@@forever3797 that's why Hannes is a perfect fit here. He's fleshed out more of the jazz influences in recent prog releases, particularly the ones that don't have elements of metal.
@@AlexRamosDrTaz Agreed. I love groove in fast metal. Lombardo always blows my mind in whatever project he's on. I also love Stephen Priestly on the Morbid Tales album as well.

Once again, these old CF songs sound so much better in D standard than the B standard that Triptykon usually uses. I feel they're even tighter now than CF was in their reunion tour. Martin is sorely missed, but I'm glad Tom isn't shying away from his legacy and embracing everything from old CF to Hellhammer these days. Now, if only they played more from Into the Pandemonium...
Regarding tuning, that may be true, however lowered and slowed down Procreation of the Wicked (eg. from Wacken 2011) was, well, wicked. I consider this performance to be far better than the original.
Tom G. Warrior still the godfather of Black Metal (sorry Venom). Circle of the Tyrants single-handedly pulled me away from Iron Maiden in the mid-80's. (23:10 - Super fan in background)
damn Grossmann is really nailing those grooves. obviously these songs should be pretty simple for a musician of his ability, but it takes a different skill to nail those mid pace grooves, while playing it with actual feel and not just with robot precision

A really good set, but for me the best was Wacken 2006 when still Celtic Frost. The truly heavy, black, grinding rawness sounded like a direct transmission from Hell. This video is a must see.
Haha. I remember when I excitedly bought that cassette. I put it in my car stereo on the way home and was like...huh? Celtics Frost was amazing otherwise though.
Hellhammer, Frost, Triptykon have been a part of my DNA for 37 years. Simply the best metal act of my lifetime!
whoever did the sound needs a raise.
I wonder if it's the same sound guy (from Greece) I met at a show in Belgium in 2018 . . . not sure if he's with them now
the filming is horrible
Imagine hearing that guitar tone back in the day, it still sounds so heavy.
Hellhammer, Celtic Frost and now Triptykon!!
Just striking songs, macabre lyricism, great artists, great bands!!
Greetings from Brazil 🤘
They sound amazing! Heavy, sludgy, and tight!
Oh yeah so awesome
Sludgy
Great show guys. Please get fit Tom - we need you for as long as possible.
Hannes Grossmann killing it on drums!
Well, he's a professional. Seems he really likes the music, though. And yep, great performance here.
He's good, but a little too groovy for Celtic Frost songs.
@@dmitryowens Really? I always thought Reed St Mark was groovy as he came from a jazz background.

Celtic Frost, hands down the greatest metal band ever 🤟🤟🤟..... What a set and I didn't realise Tim minchin
was such a fantastic drummer !! 😝
This heaviness and aggression is the counterpart to his piano and comedy. A balanced guy.
Omg now I can't unsee it lolol 😂

It's also the speed they're playing at. CF slowed the songs down a hell of a lot on that last run
I think that they're going to tour with the whole Into the pandemonium album

okay now I know who influenced the band Obituary. Especially in terms of the guitar sound.
