Always impressed when teams not only translate games that never got released over here but even do the voiced dialogue going the extra mile. Thing is it makes me wonder if the bigger companies see that gamers are going through this much effort and that there is a demand for it hell why not make it official and pay them for their hard work perhaps? In a perfect world....
The music on the title screen of Super Mario Odyssey is a remix of Chronologie 4 by Jean Michel Jarre... I know because it's one of my favorite pieces of music in history :)
Oh Mummy is the first game I ever played back in 1985 on the Spectrum. Fond memories of my dad plugging the whole thing together and showing me how to play it.
There are a lot of Super Mario World hacks I can think of right now Super Demo World - this hack was pretty big and more of what Lunar Magic is capable of VIP series - a series of Japanese Super Mario World hacks that featured a lot of custom bosses and game mechanics (and stars Boon instead of Mario) Brutal Mario aka Super Kitiku Mario - another Japanese Super Mario World hack this time by Carol which adds RPG style boss fights and tons of custom bosses and stuff in this incredible hack. and there are Super Metroid hacks out there too. Super Metroid Redesigned - a huge hack of Super Metroid that adds elements of Metroid Prime into the game (limited bombs, enemies being vulnerable to a specific type of beam, needing to locate certain chozo statues to open the way to Tourian) Super Metroid Zero Mission - another huge hack that takes elements from Metroid Zero Mission and adds them to Super Metroid there are also translation hacks for Final Fantasy IV, Final Fantasy V, and Final Fantasy VI
Hack to cover later would be Mother 3, which is now fully translated. Also, a bit offbeat, but an unfinished copy of Faceball for the Virtual Boy was found, and now finished and released.
God, I haven't seen "Oh Mummy" since the 80s. It was one of the games that came bundled with my Amstrad CPC 464! It didn't look as good as the version shown here though, lol.
I had you guys come up in my suggestion feed a lot so I started watching and then just kept clicking. Suddenly I lost track and couldn't remember the page name and didn't wanna search through 10,000 faves , so I kept looking around through the game channels. Finally got back on. Big fan. 😄✌️
FFFFFFFFFF-WHAAAAAAA? BAD APPLE ON THE GENESIS? I MUST HAVE THIS!!!!!!!! (I'm a HUGE Touhou fan) Also, another hack that I own on reproduction cart is a finished version of the unfinished english translation of Earthbound for NES.
the star ocean DeJap is one of the best games I've ever played. great fight mechanics, fast combat, in depth itemization and character development and after getting it to the "end" the world opens up and there's a TON of things to do, lots of extra bosses, dungeons and character progression. great game world also, up to par with games like FF9 and FF6 (im talking about "world building" here) another great translation is the Tales of Phantasia one. combat is even faster and fun, too bad the game is kinda short.
For once I break the silence to thank you for this nice vid. You've made a lovely job here and you pushed me to check for these demos. Well done guys, keep posting!
I realize it's been 5 years since you guys made this video but i watched it today and wanted to say thanks for bringing the 'bad apple' video to my attention. Loved it right away, so, thanks guys!
OMG, I know that MOD file in that 32X game... it's Guitar Slinger! I remember making a little song of my own with the samples in it! Joe, if you like MOD files, you should look at my channel... I write all of my music in IT format.
Bubblemans theme took a hit. The bass drum sounds like it was removed. I may have not heard it because I'm watching it from my phone but it sounds really good.
My favorite hack / translation of a game was Policenauts. It only translates the text for the ps1 version, not the audio. But reading chris sawyer, the head programer for the hack, write about the hell they had to go through just to cram in all the english characters to replace the kanji but still synch to all the events, and the pain of making sure it can play on the ps1 natively, It's surprising they didn't quit halfway through. Plus it's just an awesome game.
Super cool episode as always, guys! If you're looking for some cool hacks, check out Dragoon X Omega, a complete hack of the original Final Fantasy on NES.
I made my own Seiken Densetsu 3 repro by swapping the MASKROM on a Super Famicom copy of the game. Now I have a complete boxed copy of the game that plays in English!
Oh Mummy! was originally an Amstrad 464 release, back in 1984. I used to own an amstrad 464+ at one point and I also had this game. This genisis/Megadrive remake is pretty impressive and stays true to the original, even the music is the same.
great episode guys...I think you should definitely do a part 2. And yeah, going more into depth with the shining force 3 hacks would be great too...keep up the good work!!
I know it is kinda too late to post a comment here since this video was uploaded in 2013, but FYI the title screen music in Mario Odyssey is Jean Michel Jarre from the album Chronologie. Sure it does not sound like Mario, they just wanted to show off CD quality audio :) JMJ music was widely used in different Demo Scene competitions in Europe/Scandinavia. Peace.
Germany: Monday new Simpsons episodes, Thursday new Naruto Episodes and Sunday is Game Sack day =) Looking forward to it like a child to his Saturday morning cartoons
17:27 ... BAD Apple!!! ... TOUHOU! =D I'm happy now =D ... Uh... for those who don't know (probably many) "BAD Apple!!! (feat. Nomico)" is a fanmade video for a fanmade vocal arrangement of a song from the videogame Touhou 4: Lotus Land Story ... And, they ported the video to a format that can be used in actual consoles (like there's a NES "version"), so it's technically not a demo, becouse I don't think it's supposed to be the intro to a game, just the PV... so... yeah =3
Of all the game sacks in the world, you're the game sackiest. Not sure if you guys have mentioned it before, but have you ever played Sweet Home on the Famicom? It's totally awesome. I only ask because there's a repro cart available now.
eb88408 I guess you could say that, it's an 8-bit horror RPG made by Capcom with some very survival horror type themes. I've even heard that Capcom's original intention with RE was to remake Sweet Home for 5th gen consoles, but I can't really confirm that.
You guys got yourselves another subscriber. This is my first time watching one you guys videos and I love the topic and the delivery. Gotta check out more of you guys stuff.
Even if you don't like Sonic hacks you should at least acknowledge Sonic ERaZor, Sonic 3 Complete and Dr. Robotnik's Creature Capture. At least you mentioned Sonic Classic Heroes.
Man i really need to get some everdrive carts...also i didn't know that SF3 Scenario 2&3 were translated, i am gonna have to look up how to get them working on my Saturn.....so many cool RPG's at the end to play as well
Glass Breaker was hilarious, I laughed so hard first time I saw that Grandma with the shotgun. Pretty harsh just for breaking a couple of windows, lol :D
Sacred Line is actually a physical cart now. I picked it and Pier Solar up recently, and couldn't be happier with both of them. The Sacred Line cart came with some cool stuff with it, too, including an art insert so you can put it in an actual Genesis case and have a cover. It also had a little cardboard stand in the package, so you could display it I guess. Personally, I love the game. Really cool to be able to play something like that on my Genny.
I just got an NES Powerpak to play a lot of these, good to see there's a few more out there. I'd definitely recommend the "Final Fantasy VII" hack on NES. It started as an unlicensed pirate, then hackers translated it and made it a whole lot more playable.
Very cool epsoide, guys! A companion episode showcasing the various Everdrives, PowerPaks, and other Flash Carts and repro hardware would be very cool to see. I know you don't do hardware reviews all that often, but it'd be nice to see.
A game I'm working on playing now is Front Mission: Gun Hazard (which i'm surprised i haven't seen here yet) which is now a translated Run and Gun Action-RPG for the SNES. I was a bit skeptical as to how they could stretch out a Run'nGun to 20 hours, but there is a lot of customization, leveling, story and pretty clever level design. They even have optional Blow Crap Up levels where you can go through a pretty flat level and do just that gaining XP and Money and de-stress yourself!
You guys should have looked at the fan sequel to Crono Trigger, called Crimson Echos/Flames of Eternity. The game is 100% done to, which is impressive for a Rom hack attempting to make a completely new game.
I loved this episode! Aside from a game translations and dopey graphics hacks, I never ventured much into the world of homebrews, hacks, and demos. I'm pretty blown away by what I've seen here, though, and it seems that I've missed out on a lot. Thank-you Joe and Dave for constantly managing to bring something new and exciting to every episode!
Wait a sec! I know that music at 6:50! It's Chronologie Part 4 by french electronic musician Jean Michel Jarre! And the stage music is I think Calypso, also from Jean Michel Jarre! Hope I'm not the only one who noticed it! :D
Wow, so many RPG games I wished were translated years ago. Langrisser 2 and all the missing Ys and Final Fantasy games. Nice ep, have a great Christmas!
Great episode guys! I would like to see you make an episode of homebrew, hack and demo for the great sega white lady, the Dreamcast. You would be astonished to see how many hack and homebrew exist for this platform, if you don't already know about this of course.
6:33 Super Mario Odyssey huh?
Rusted Logic predicted the future i guess.
Lol yeah I was thinking that too.
Yeah
I came here looking for a comment about that lol
I literally did a double take when he said that
Was gonna post the same thing!
At least it seems like Sega is doing that with Christian Whitehead. Now if only they would bring on the team that did Streets of Rage Remake...
@@ebiljebus Well....😁
Thx for mentioning our Genesis demo "Overdrive" ! :D
It's amazing, thanks for making it! :)
The music on the title screen of Super Mario Odyssey is a remix of Chronologie 4 by Jean Michel Jarre... I know because it's one of my favorite pieces of music in history :)
Just mentioned it myself. Sorry I missed your comment.
Fun fact. I recently found out, if you run the Titan Overdrive demo on an emulator, it says "Your Emulator Sucks"
And now we've got an official Super Mario Odyssey.
Oh Mummy is the first game I ever played back in 1985 on the Spectrum. Fond memories of my dad plugging the whole thing together and showing me how to play it.
To think, the new Mario game for the Switch will be called Super Mario Odyssey.
Gabriel Hunt Hi im from the future (2017) and the switch game is called super mario Odyssey
Kinda makes you wonder...
Oh yeah, and Cat Mario from Syobon Action appeared in Super Mario 3D World
This aged like wine
I like in the end how Joe made his character all buff and manly and then he made dave look all pathetic and fugly
I'm honestly loving the music that plays over the Mode 7 demo/SNES test footage.
There are a lot of Super Mario World hacks I can think of right now
Super Demo World - this hack was pretty big and more of what Lunar Magic is capable of
VIP series - a series of Japanese Super Mario World hacks that featured a lot of custom bosses and game mechanics (and stars Boon instead of Mario)
Brutal Mario aka Super Kitiku Mario - another Japanese Super Mario World hack this time by Carol which adds RPG style boss fights and tons of custom bosses and stuff in this incredible hack.
and there are Super Metroid hacks out there too.
Super Metroid Redesigned - a huge hack of Super Metroid that adds elements of Metroid Prime into the game (limited bombs, enemies being vulnerable to a specific type of beam, needing to locate certain chozo statues to open the way to Tourian)
Super Metroid Zero Mission - another huge hack that takes elements from Metroid Zero Mission and adds them to Super Metroid
there are also translation hacks for Final Fantasy IV, Final Fantasy V, and Final Fantasy VI
>each day lasts three minutes just like in real life
I woke the neighbors up
It was a nice surprise seeing Bad Apple in this video! I sure wasn't expecting anything Touhou related on a show about console games.
Hack to cover later would be Mother 3, which is now fully translated. Also, a bit offbeat, but an unfinished copy of Faceball for the Virtual Boy was found, and now finished and released.
Great stuff as always guys. Top notch editing too. Love your show, having a game sack marathon here in Scotland on this rainy day
Thats a great show, its give me that 90´s game shows. Btw, as usual, great choice ! The ArtAlive at the end was hilarious !
Cheers from Brazil !
I hope you guys dont stop doing these for a long time.
God, I haven't seen "Oh Mummy" since the 80s. It was one of the games that came bundled with my Amstrad CPC 464!
It didn't look as good as the version shown here though, lol.
6:33 dang, Rusted Logic's got some good foresight. He could see almost five years into the future!
I had you guys come up in my suggestion feed a lot so I started watching and then just kept clicking. Suddenly I lost track and couldn't remember the page name and didn't wanna search through 10,000 faves , so I kept looking around through the game channels. Finally got back on. Big fan. 😄✌️
You binge watching? Such an awesome channel.
+moviemetalhead totally. I binge every day off. 😄👍
+bluestrife28 Me too bro. I'm almost done with my second marathon of every episode.
FFFFFFFFFF-WHAAAAAAA?
BAD APPLE ON THE GENESIS? I MUST HAVE THIS!!!!!!!!
(I'm a HUGE Touhou fan)
Also, another hack that I own on reproduction cart is a finished version of the unfinished english translation of Earthbound for NES.
Me Too
Surprised you didnt mention the repro and translation of starfox 2,I know it was never "officially released" but its very playable.
I'm like 4 years late, but Super Mario Odyssey at 6:38? Fantastic!
Yeah man, me too - just kinda going through these guys' videos now, and I definitely got a kick out of seeing the Super Mario Odyssey hack.
the star ocean DeJap is one of the best games I've ever played. great fight mechanics, fast combat, in depth itemization and character development and after getting it to the "end" the world opens up and there's a TON of things to do, lots of extra bosses, dungeons and character progression.
great game world also, up to par with games like FF9 and FF6 (im talking about "world building" here)
another great translation is the Tales of Phantasia one. combat is even faster and fun, too bad the game is kinda short.
Huh, that Timmy game looks a lot like some of the stuff from "I wanna be the guy"
Yes I love watching hacks!!!!!
Us too that's why we watch Game Chasers OOOOOOOOOOH!!!!
HEY you cant reuse my joke. I realize mine was more subtle but still.....
Game Sack Where's Vagrant Fighter FX, Hong Kong Project -NKTF? It's a homebrew fighting game! Come on Game Sack
arringtastic41
I just double-checked and they are not in this video.
Game Sack Shoot.
Just wanted to let you guys know I've seen every single one of your vids now. Big fan. Keep up the great work :)
Thank You!!
OMG, I know that MOD file in that 32X game... it's Guitar Slinger! I remember making a little song of my own with the samples in it! Joe, if you like MOD files, you should look at my channel... I write all of my music in IT format.
Darn! I've missed Beggar Prince and Brave Battle Saga for the Genesis. Still again a fabulous Gamesack episode, guys!!
Cold outside, worm tea and a blanked while watching this.
Best thing ever.
Mmmmm. Worm tea is the best. I love earthworm tea it's so yummy.... LoL.. Thanks for watching!
Super Mario Odyssey came out 4 years before it was announced for the Switch. Wild!
AWESOME EPISODE! For some weird reason I couldn't watch any of Game Sack's episodes, but now that I can it's gonna be early christmas for me :D
Have I just been Rick Roll'd...Sega Genesis style??
Awesome episode.
You guys really should check out the SMT I & II translations that Aeon Genesis did, they're really good RPGs.
Bubblemans theme took a hit. The bass drum sounds like it was removed. I may have not heard it because I'm watching it from my phone but it sounds really good.
This need a follow-up.
Amazing episode guys!
Thanks for it.

Super cool episode as always, guys! If you're looking for some cool hacks, check out Dragoon X Omega, a complete hack of the original Final Fantasy on NES.
Imagina a game called Super Mario Odyssey released years prior
I made my own Seiken Densetsu 3 repro by swapping the MASKROM on a Super Famicom copy of the game. Now I have a complete boxed copy of the game that plays in English!
That's awesome!
the music on that super mario odyssey level is just petal meadows from paper mario 2
Oh Mummy! was originally an Amstrad 464 release, back in 1984. I used to own an amstrad 464+ at one point and I also had this game. This genisis/Megadrive remake is pretty impressive and stays true to the original, even the music is the same.

Great episode! Love the demos, really shows what those systems can do.
I wish yall made videos more often (once a week)! This is one of my favorite channels!!
Great episode as always guys. I really appreciate the time you take to make these videos. I love how they tend to run 20 to 30 minutes.
13:39
Game Under. Just brilliant. XD
I am so pumped to see this. IDK how gamesack doesn't get over a million views per video but I love the longer videos you guys rock.
At 8:43 The game starts to play The rolling stones - as tears go by
Germany: Monday new Simpsons episodes, Thursday new Naruto Episodes and Sunday is Game Sack day =) Looking forward to it like a child to his Saturday morning cartoons
I like how that one game says GAME UNDER instead of over. Awesome episode you guys, keep 'em comin'
Amazing episode. Looking forward to more of this type.
the music in the mario homebrew around 7:00 is the petalburg theme from paper mario the thousand year door, that's why it sounds authentic.
17:27 ... BAD Apple!!! ... TOUHOU! =D I'm happy now =D
... Uh... for those who don't know (probably many) "BAD Apple!!! (feat. Nomico)" is a fanmade video for a fanmade vocal arrangement of a song from the videogame Touhou 4: Lotus Land Story

I know exactly what this is. I'm an avid Touhou player and this made my day too.
Wow! What an excellent idea for an episode! You guys are the best!
There was a Super Mario Odessy years ago... Mind blown
Of all the game sacks in the world, you're the game sackiest.
Not sure if you guys have mentioned it before, but have you ever played Sweet Home on the Famicom? It's totally awesome. I only ask because there's a repro cart available now.
Isn't that the influence to Resident Evil?

KidShoryuken ive played it as well, and its great. im surprised it wasnt covered, along with clock tower on the snes
Love Sweet Home! Pro Jared played it last year around Halloween. Check out Stop Skeletons From Fighting reviewed and live streamed it.
I had Oh Mummy originally on the Amstrad CPC 464. Wow.. that's a blast from my childhood! Cheers fellas. :)
I Wish there could be a Homebrew Made "The King Of Fighters 94" Port on Super Nintendo
Forget having a morning wood.. It's Game Sack time baby!!!!!!
Man i really need to get some everdrive carts...also i didn't know that SF3 Scenario 2&3 were translated, i am gonna have to look up how to get them working on my Saturn.....so many cool RPG's at the end to play as well
haha! Joe joins the hate for Rick Dangerous. I remember when we used to play that bitch on the C64 back in the 80s. It was a kick in the nuts.
Game Sack has the best music in each episode
I love those sketches you guys do at the end of the videos
Great video. Thanks for the mentions!!
Dang it Joe and Dave, where in the world is my Fan Translation Episode?!?!
But in all seriousness, this is an awesome episode.
Glass Breaker was hilarious, I laughed so hard first time I saw that Grandma with the shotgun. Pretty harsh just for breaking a couple of windows, lol :D
my favorite fantranslation of any game is still Mother 3
although i do have to admit i was amused by the Finnish translation of
Chrono Trigger haha..
Sacred Line is actually a physical cart now. I picked it and Pier Solar up recently, and couldn't be happier with both of them. The Sacred Line cart came with some cool stuff with it, too, including an art insert so you can put it in an actual Genesis case and have a cover. Absolutely love that choice of Persona 4 music at the start!
Super interesting episode too.
Reproduction carts are an option as well. They usually come with cool boxes, manuals, and even posters
Very cool epsoide, guys! A companion episode showcasing the various Everdrives, PowerPaks, and other Flash Carts and repro hardware would be very cool to see. I know you don't do hardware reviews all that often, but it'd be nice to see.
I am watching your guys' vids back to back for the umpteenth time...love your show!
Awesome episode guys. You should check out goldeneye X or fzero X climax both on n64 they are amazing
6:46 Super Mario Odyssey ey? Now where did i see that...
Kinda funny looking back and seeing a fan game called 'super mario odyssey' when the actual switch game named the same thing exists
You guys should have looked at the fan sequel to Crono Trigger, called Crimson Echos/Flames of Eternity. The game is 100% done to, which is impressive for a Rom hack attempting to make a completely new game.
6:45 That's actually a cover of Jean Micel Jarre's "Chronologie Part 4"
the fact that there's a Homebrew called super Mario Odyssey and Nintendo is making an official Mario game with that name is kind of funny. lol
Touhou in my GameSack? life 1 step closer to complete!
Wait a sec! I know that music at 6:50! It's Chronologie Part 4 by french electronic musician Jean Michel Jarre! And the stage music is I think Calypso, also from Jean Michel Jarre! Hope I'm not the only one who noticed it! :D
I've been eagerly waiting for this episode, since hearing about it on SEGA-16.
"For criminal use only!" Haha.
Another great episode guys! Interesting and funny, as usual. I actually never knew about those SD Flash Carts even existed, until today.
I wonder if anybody has recreated Sonic 4 on the Mega Drive using the classic games as a base...
+NateSnivySmasher yeah i did
U-Bahn Drei-D
Please, show proof.
The level design in Sonic 4 is ass. It would be a complete waste of everyone's time to recreate it.
Only one more week until the true Sonic 4 is released.
Super Mario Odyssey, 7 years ago, HA!
Project M is a really cool hack of Super Smash Bros. Brawl making the game more balanced overall
Wow, so many RPG games I wished were translated years ago. Langrisser 2 and all the missing Ys and Final Fantasy games. Nice ep, have a great Christmas!
Pokemon Light Platinum. This game has a MUCH deeper story and is in general much more engaging and deep than your typical main series Pokemon game.
Great episode guys! I would like to see you make an episode of homebrew, hack and demo for the great sega white lady, the Dreamcast. You would be astonished to see how many hack and homebrew exist for this platform, if you don't already know about this of course.
You guys listened and in a couple weeks , I am impressed excellent episode.
That Mario Odyssey game has some clear as fuck audio
great episode
