For front . Its nicer to remove the caliper for not pinch the brake line, and at lest remove the axle nut. And thats not control arm, its tie rod end. Thats not sway bar, its sway bar link. That line on the rear is abs sensor harness. But nice vid.
did you get larger tires? how large of tires do you think you could go? thoughts on enlarging wheel cavity? also did you look into a front space for leveling?
I am about to have this kit installed on my 2013 WK2 Hemi. Trying to decide how many of the 5mm shims to put in each side to have a level Jeep. I noticed in you first shots you had the shim on one strut only. Was that the driver side? My 05 WK Hemi leans a little lower on the driver side and wonder if the 2013 will do the same after a lift. Your Jeep looks like it still sits a bit un-level with the nose a bit lower than the rear. Wondering how many 5mm shims I need on each side to get all four corners at approximately the same height. According to ARB these things are for leveling right and left sides, but people use them to level front and back as well. Supposedly they give 1/4 to 3/8 lift. Any thought would be appreciated! Nice video by the way. Must have been fun compressing the springs...
I did not put in any shims when I installed this lift. That was the just the top-hat with the studs sticking out. It It was a bit nose down with the lift - nearly the same as the factory rake. I did add one strut spacer (www.tuffcountry.com/leveling-kits/jeep/) to both sides a year later to level it out. That is all the fits without putting in longer mounting bolts which would have required taking the strut apart. OME also has shims you can buy with the kit to level front to back. I don't know why you would ever need shims on only one side - that would indicate a bigger problem. As for the springs - you will need a wall mounted or hydraulic spring compressor. I took mine to a shop (for "benchwork" as they call it) and the mechanic told me he was scared putting the springs on the struts. He needed a lot of pressure.
I actually went with the rro lift, but when I was doing the front end and removing the strut, I popped my CV out, how can I avoid that? I'm about to but adjustable bilsteins up front and will have to go through this process again...
I've been told to remove the axles. I didn't do that - guess I got lucky. I did have a boot tear months later that was covered by warranty - not sure if it was related to the install.
@@sheerwillsurvival2064 he doesn't know what he's talking about. Plenty of QTI Grand Cherokees with Old Man Emu/suspension lifts. Contact ARB if you need to confirm. A suspension lift vs spacer lift isn't going to impact the 4x4 system.
Used stock specs if needed. Mostly tightened to wrench tight and re-checked a week/100 miles later. 2 years and nothing fell out. With suspension, general rule is as tight as you can with a wrench - no impact drivers.
I took it to a shop that had a wall mounted compressor. Mechanic said he feared for his life putting them on. Lol. I saw someone else do it with ratchet straps, C-clamps and a screw compressor. I would never try that.
This is a 2013 Grand Cherokee - US model with V8 without air suspension. I did not see any difference in passenger to driver side on the install. With independent front suspension, generally both sides are symmetrical. You maybe looking at a different model or year.
About two inches. Tried to fit 33's but with the spacing on the new wheels, there was too much fender rub. Went with 275/55/20s. Can get a bit more clearance with a 2.5" spacer lift but you lose the extra articulation you get with new struts and shocks. You'll only gain about .5" more clearance with heavier 33" tires. A full suspension is a better upgrade but twice the price.
Thanks for posting this - great info

Awesome vid. Thanks
Thaks for the video

I only used the 3/8" plate from the Tuff Country kit - not the round spacer. That would never fit.

Great video is yours equipped with quad 2or 1 mine is quad 1 full time 4wd wondering if you can install it
Only matters if you have air suspension. This is a Limited with Quadra Trac II. Strut and spring suspension.
@@CUBuff2001 the guy at rough country told me with quad 1 being all time 4wd he said it might be a problem heck I don’t know Iam still going to do it

@@CUBuff2001 he said it would wear out the axles CV joints and put strain on drives shafts as it changes angles 🤷♂️
Do you have the spec sheet for all the torque values of the bolts? (Like the control arms, etc)

Stock specs are? And I only use multiple torque wrenches. Nothing impact.
Stock specs are in a shop manual ( Haynes/Chilton). OME did not come with specs.
which style is this? does it have the quadra lift system?
can't lift it with air suspension.
Did you need coil compressor for the strut and the new coils?

@@CUBuff2001 If you get it from rocky road, they ship it ready to bolt on!
i am plan to buy old man emu 2.5 put i am unable to find the 2.5. can you share a link to buy emu 2.5. thanks
I got mine from US. Try contacting OldMan Emu?
You fidnt show how its done on the left side, the left is completely different as balljoint more closer to each other and its not very easily

How much did the shocks set you back ?? $$$$
Kit was about $1100. Shocks and springs. Full suspension lift, not a spacer kit.
How much lift did this give you?
