My only suggestion will be to add the gasket insulator same you use on the side of the battery on the top and bottom or fiber glass insulators. Other than that looks amazing.
Thanks for comment. Yep, today we use fishpaper for all sides, battery pack is wraped to shrinkable foil like in video but on sides we use insulator glue for waterproof efect.
I though you only needed 6S for 24v... I am confused, if these are 3.7v nominal voltage that would make it 25.9V and 29.4V fully charged. I am thinking of building the same for my scooter that uses two 12в lead acid batteries.
Hi, in battery world is 24V for 6S and 7S...like a 48V is for 12S and 13S. Same 60V for 16S and 17S. It's rounding. For replacing 2 12V lead acid batteries is good choice 7S connection.
Also those 12v x2 lead acid battery type scooters do not charge or hold charge for very long due to the electric motors being very power hungary. Bsst to just buy li ion scooter with brushless wheel motor.
@@fraserm803 The scooter was free, I figured I could make use out of it if I build a Li-Ion battery for it. The sad part is when my son was 4 it was perfect for both of us to ride it. 3 years later he kind of outgrew it and I am sad I put this project for too far long on a backburner :(

But 2 comments from my side: -At 5:10: Too dangerous in my opinion: While welding on the second side of the battery, there should be some tape for isolation on every cell you are not working on at that specific moment. If you missplace your strips left or right or one strip falls down on the pack while handling it or something like that you´ll get a short. Also if there is a metal strip or anything else conductive left getting under the pack. -Why are you using black for the positive discharge wire???
@@mcells_batteries my battery is charged to 29.4V. The BMS is like yours, but it turns off for some reason when the battery is discharged to 25V. can it be a faulty BMS?

@@GulftodayT Samsung 40T 21700 batteries might be better way to go... as they can handle very amp discharge (30+A continuous). Are you planning on powering large electrical appliances like a heater, AC, etc?

If so, can you tell me what size panels you are using and how they are connected (series or parallel)? What inverter are you using? What is the input voltage required for your AC air conditioner (or heater)? As for the 18650 battery cells they will do fine powering your unit through inverter if they are quality name brand new conditioned cells and set up right. I don't recommend using LIFEPO4 batteries as they have lower limit of operating voltage range and cannot handle high amp charging and discharging. Samsung 40T 21700 may be the best battery to go with as they can handle high charging and discharging, and it doesn't lose charge in freezing/below-freezing temps, extremely efficient and reliable.
That lap solder joint will reflow under high loads and let go, in my experience. I encourage you to consider a linesman splice or similar mechanical joint under solder.

We cannot get 24 volt using 3.7 volt cells. Correct volts should have been shown with a multimeter at end. Apart from that, the hand work is impressive, no doubt.
I have created a 7s 15 p battery pack with bms, and tried to use it with apc ups.. It just trips when power goes.. When i use it with existing battery in parallel it works fine

Great job. Worked systematically. They say if you cut the balance leads unevenly short and long, there will be difference in resistance and the cells will be charged unevenly. Is it valid?

A physical barrier more than kapton tape would be preferred for the BMS/balance cables. Something like barley paper but this is a really minor thing to point out. The fact that you're using kapton paper is enough honestly, RUclips is full of Indian kids using cells that look like they died 10 years ago and have been rusting away at the bottom of a river ever since, put together with zero capacity, IR testing, no balancing is done prior to assembly they don't even look at cell voltages and then they solder some random wire to the terminals and call it a day. Followed by 1200 comments saying "Genius boss you are great. I wish one day to build battery like you" Ehhh 20 seconds later the barley paper comes out! This is a quality build, just don't use the Smart Daly BMS's. The dumb ones are just fine though, good price and they work.

We learn from other and sure from our mistakes and aplicate it in next builds. Today we build our own busbars, our holders, 3D projects etc. but it was long way and i think that it will be much longer :)
@@Bharani_0601 these are compatible in 7s mode, the ups will charge these batteries up to 70%. It will reduce the maximum on time as battery not fully charged due to higher voltages but will least much longer and still a lot better compared to lead acid batteries. If you already have them in hand just use these. But I agree it will be better using 3.2 volt batteries in 8s mode, such as 32700 you can put 16 batteries inside UPS with 2 leadacid at 12, also more safe to use lifepo4 batteries as these not exploding.

Capacity of 24Ah? You’ll need a (insert number for voltage) S and 10P pack if using 2400mAh cells. (Insert)S5P if using 4800mAh 21700 cells. 3000mAh cells would be (insert)S8P. The first number I’m omitting is the cells in series. 7S for a high 24V. 6S for a very low 24V. 4S for a 12-16.8V and 3S for 9-12.6V. Thankfully 36V fits just about perfectly at 10S with 3.6 nominal and is close enough for 3.7 nominal cells.

Great video, that very first weld on your first spot didnt look like that first weld took, i only see one dimple on your closeup, rest look fine.
Yes, sometimes is welding pressure little bit different and it make some changes but it has not effect for final work.
How do we know it worked? No testing done.

These are 18650 cells which is not compatible
for UPS, try with 26650/26700 cells for UPS. I'm already using 12V 6AH 26700 cells for my APC UPS.
