D2 has some of the best ambient music in gaming, period. The drums are so damn good. These hour long versions are fantastic for TTRPGs, so I really appreciate the uploads.
Ive played through D2 so many times that my brain super-imposes the Fallen Ones little laugh(and chest opening/item dropping/gold collection sounds) randomly through-out the song haha.
D3 has nothing that can match the music or atmosphere of this game. The fact D2 was made trying to be a dungeons and dragons tabletop game is why is has so much unique charm and atmosphere. The mass appeal of D3 is kind of its undoing at the same time. Its missing this magic of a small team that loved D and D and the goals of the game. D3 was trying to hide complexity, and D2 embraced it
D3 and SC2 resembled warcraft style. can't say it got me off with sc2 but I quitted d3 after finishing the story. Try to go back at it a couple of times but never worked. On the other side, D2 still does
@@rodrigolopezmaya5974 This is such a great way to put it. It did resemble the colorful world of Warcraft and it was not the same. Starcraft II even had too much color I feel like, not enough grittyness and gore.
@@rodrigolopezmaya5974 Well, they resembled the style that WoW specifically had become. Early Warcraft was actually rather similar to Diablo - an early preview trailer for the original Diablo actually used the daemon model from one of the Warcraft II CGI cutscenes, and while he ended up looking quite a bit different in the final product you can still see the lineage. The first Warcraft also had a dark, moody soundtrack like Diablo, though Warcraft II decided to go a much more energetic and pirate-y direction since they added boats - the composer, Glenn Stafford, really went ham on the harpsichord samples.
Ok my son shared this music with me when he was about 16 ( some 20+years ago) and said Dad, you will like this. He was right. I am 68 now, don’t know anything about the game, but this is awesome and I am guessing the game is equal to the music!
I remember transitioning from Diablo 1 which I played extensively to Diablo 2 and this music was more "progressive" and less simple than the original sound tracks. This variance in instruments and sound design per song is what's kept it's longevity throughout the years.
"Spider" track contains them too, btw. Part which represented "crawling spiders slowly surrounding player" or just snooping around hanging on walls. Those "sssssssss" like vinil needle
Am I bugging or some parts of this highly reminded Amon Tobin's "Chaos Theory"?:) I knew Diablo II was released earlier if what:) It seems Amon took inspiration from Uelmen works..
06:33 You are here for this
Why yes i am.
Amen
DRUMS
The guitar, basses and the drums are just beyond fantastic
However did you know? :)

All things are not for all people (or players).
one piece that I really enjoy from D3 is "Abattoir"
but anyway, D1 & 2 music is way more entertaining to me

Started raining in my farming game as I was baling grass. Decided this was the most appropriate music to set the tone while I played.
This music is so calming for me
I love this music... the dark but cool vibes it gives off. The guitar effects are awesome.
How can someone not like this sweet nostalgia !?

At 3:17 you can hear a bit of D1 Ost
Every OST in Act 1 made me scared shitless as a kid back when I played this.
2:41 is my favorite part
I stayed a while ... and listened.
Legendary.
Bring me back to 2002
MAT UELMEN!
I turn it on almost always when I'm grinding rifts in D3.
I could also play some Fallout 2 with this as background music.
@@yittmashups ok but FO2 soundtrack is 100% on par with D2
