I was partying to this song in 2001. Optimistic and joyful times. Then 9/11 happened. Everything felt like it changed. You can't go back, because you can never recapture that Janet Jackson pre- 9/11 smile. However, we can look forward to this new decade....a chance for newfound joy and optimism. Time heals all wounds.

Fun Fact: The opening acoustic guitar riff, which goes throughout the song, is sampled from a group called America, and their Top 10 hit single from 1972, "Ventura Highway". Janet's producers, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis were inspired to use it after remembering hearing the song growing up listening to Minneapolis' KDWB AM 630 radio top 40 station.

This song started in April 1888 with Erik Satie's "Gymnopedie No. 1" which is considered by some to be the first pop song. Don't believe me? The melody of Gymnopedie No 1 is actually sampled in this song as the background melody when Janet sings: "Alright maybe gonna find him my today I gotta get someone to call my lover...." Gymnopedie No. 1's chord progression inspired America's "Ventura Highway" Jimmy Jam sampled Ventura Highway to make this song. All three songs are on display here. Absolute genius work by producer Jimmy Jam. Here's to a song whose origins began in 19th Century France.

I simply love Janet Jackson since 1986, when I was sixteen years old. It was the year that the third studio album of Jackson's younger sister Control was released. Tremendous commercial success in the US, the album topped the Billboard 200 chart, while five of the six singles made it to the top five of the Billboard Hot 100 chart, including the third single to number one. Luckily, the following albums were as commercially successful as the singles around the world, making Janet Jackson one of the richest and most famous pop and rhythm and blues artists in the US and around the world! It's with great pleasure and honor that I have five of these magnificent albums that are masterpieces of world music, Control (1986) two copies, Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation 1814 (1989) two copies, janet. (1993) two copies, All For You (2001) four copies and Unbreakable (2015) one copy. She is a queen, a great pop, soul, R&B diva in the world. She has been mixing many genres since 1986, and has always been accompanied in the production and composition of her songs by famous producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Long live the Queen of Pop/R&B! She is a living legend! She deserves the best in life because she is a great artist and no one compares to her!
