I was partying to this song in 2001. Optimistic and joyful times. Then 9/11 happened. Everything felt like it changed. You can't go back, because you can never recapture that Janet Jackson pre- 9/11 smile. However, we can look forward to this new decade....a chance for newfound joy and optimism. Time heals all wounds.

Janet's producers, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis were inspired to use it after remembering hearing the song growing up listening to Minneapolis' KDWB AM 630 radio top 40 station.

I was nine years old when this song came out. My Mom was driving me home from one of my evening swimming lessons and we were on our way to 7-11 for ice cream when this started playing on the radio. I can never listen to this without having flashbacks of my childhood.

I like many Janet Jackson songs and this is definitely one of my favorites. The guitar chords and the beats flow together so harmoniously. There is also a recent live version from 2017.

This takes me back to the beginning of the Summer of '01. I first saw this music video on MTV that summer. That was such a simpler time before all the maelstrom of bullshit happened a couple months later with 9/11. I miss how things used to be before that shitty incident happened.
