Mario & Sonic: Worlds Clash

- Through an unforeseen event, two of the worlds biggest video game icons are forced to switch worlds, and struggle to overcome the differing rules, mechanics and goals defined by each others games.
A Mario & Sonic crossover animation I created for a high school Media Project back in 2008. Due to time constraints, the version I submitted had scenes cut out and others rushed, and as a result, I wasn’t satisfied with the final product. Since then I’ve been animating on and off during my spare time to reach the point I intended the animation to be. And here it is :)

Awesome animation, humor, sounds and story. This was really epic tribute to both franchises! I say this is one of the if not THE best crossover animation I ever seen of them! All the hard work and years you put into this really shows and I applaud a million times for your dedication to this project. I loved when the characters get introduced and how they interact. Sonic and Mario adjusting to their opposing worlds had to be the funniest thing ever.. Everyone was hilarious and that ending was soooo great. the inner fan girl in me jumped for joy, watching this all... You really stayed true to the games and it came out flawless :D I'm reading all of the profolio now and I can't just say how admirable and inspiring how much work you put into this epic animation! It's awesome, I can't even begin to explain my love for this. :) Keep doing you!

I expected the duo to not get along with their counterpart's friends/brother, but they surprisingly made a great team that made me want an actual crossover game between the two!

This was...REALLY well done. Funny, had a well written story and amazing action and it's really cool to see how fast they adjusted to each other's worlds. 100/10 gonna watch again

This is amazing! If there's ever a Mario and Sonic crossover game (an actual one, not a minigame compilation), they should hire you to animate the cutscenes! I know that's a bit of a stretch, but the point is, you're really good at animating! You deserve way more subscirbers!

Now that my respect and love has grown for Mario, Sonic and sprite animations, I have to say this might be the best fanmade animation I have ever seen. Great work!

Sadly, I was sorta expecting for Mario and Sonic to like...give a high-five or something when they were returning to their worlds. It would've made my day. Still though, the story, animation, and just the entire production itself is 200% wicked.

This animation is beautiful in every way. It hasn't aged badly at all. I remember when I used my dad's phone to watch videos of Mario and Sonic. As a fan of both franchises, from Super Mario Calamity and Sonic Shorts to this animation, my head exploded. Seeing the idea of two of my favorite franchises together when I didn't know how to distinguish what was and wasn't official, your animation did my childhood, what a great job being beautiful even after 7 years (I'm Latin American, I use a translator 😅)

it wasnt about him rolling it was him learning how to _JUMP_ like Mario over Bowser. Thats why you hear the Mario jump sound effect when Sonic did it. Because Mario usually jumps over him.

DAMN. It's 5 years old and I only get to see it know ? I feel like really missed something, that was SO Good. Gives me Super Mario Bros Z vibes but since it's shorter, I fell like there no "filler" or long conversation to slow down the pace. That was epic. From what i know, the entire story is when Sonic and Mario both create a wormhole out of nowhere. Sonic and Mario fall in and end up in each others world and then each of their sidekicks have to teach them how there worlds work in order to fix this. This was the entire plot in my words.

The humor was really on point in this and reminded me a lot of what I enjoyed when I watched the SMBZ series by Mark Haynes (Alvin Earthworm). What differentiates this animation from his is how you incorporated Mario and Sonic's gameplay styles in each other's worlds and showed how it wasn't going to work unless they adapted to their new surroundings and learned new things, which was a really clever and cool touch! Haynes' work focused highly on really flashy fight scenes that are clearly inspired by DBZ (hence the name), and there's nothing at all wrong with that, but showing each character fighting with old and new abilities that are more familiar to both worlds was very refreshing.
I don't know if you still have the time to animate things like this like how you did in the past, but I hope you're still enjoying the hobby!
