a great fan of your channel. that said, I think we are overlooking the happychick emulator. a lot of top channels refuse to talk about this emulator. but I found happy chick to be a beast of an emulator and if u choose the phone or the tv version, both do great work for cheap tv boxes. it plays all these emulators just mentioned very well. I use happy chick as my number one go-to on my x96air and I have very little to complain about when it concerns gaming on the budget. pls check it out. I recommend the phone version for these cheap boxes as I have come to realize it works better on them. Luv ur 2 channels boss

Very nice! I picked up the T95 max awhile back after seeing ETA Prime's video on it and I've been really happy with EmuELEC so far! The android box is slowly replacing the PS Classic & SNES Classic, there's just so many added perks to enjoy once you get into the customization aspects of the firmware. And nothing beats chillin out and enjoying those scraped video screensavers you put me onto!

I have to get me one so I'm looking forward to the other reviews. I wanted to go for the Console X Pro because it was plug and play. Russ helped me put together an emulation box using an X96 Air TV box. S905X3 and 2GB of RAM. Cost me $25. Plus EasySMX KC-8236 wireless gamepads and 128GB microSD. Total cost $76.
Btw EasySMX is a great brand if you don't wanna spend too much on a wireless controller. Got mine for just ~$18.50 each including the dongle and shipping. I don't think it's Bluetooth though; you really need that dongle it comes with. Works with no fuss. Very solid and responsive. The only thing I don't like is that it follows the Xbox ABXY arrangement.. Emuelec follows the SNES arrangement. If you configure the buttons as it says on the buttons your games will have flipped ABXY controls. I dunno if you can make Emuelec follow the Xbox ABXY button layout while still playing like you're using an SNES gamepad though, but for me, what the heck I followed the SNES-style layout anyway. It's hard to play games like Streets of Rage and Punch-Out!! with flipped buttons, especially if you're used to the SNES key mappings.

Oh yeah, so much more it can do. Depending on what you get and your specs ofcourse.

I bought the 256gb Super Console X a few months back. While it has a ton of games, like most other Android boxes, it has a weak CPU & struggles with many Dreamcast, Saturn, PSP, & Playstation games. Don't even think about trying to emulate Gamecube, PS2, & the original XBOX with Android. Also, the Super Console X has a ton of games on it that will require to use a keyboard to play. On some of the emulators, the controller isn't set up properly either.
Fortunately, I a box on Ebay, with a much stronger CPU & more ram that runs Batocera 3.0, for under $100. I've been porting ROMs from one to the other and it runs flawlessly.

The issue that I ran into with running android games and emulators was the console simply throttles at 70c, which most games ran the cpu temp up there quickly. I purchased a 5volt 20mm high blower fan, like for a laptop, and wired that to the inner leads of the usb 2.0 port. After installing that, I also added some stick on cooling fins from a raspberry pi advertised kit, made sure the air flowed across everything and away it went running great.
Neat mod, and a little in depth, but the performance gain was great.

Thank you for the video, Russ. I was thinking, maybe with some work it would be possible to transform and cheap (or not) old (yet quite powerful) android smartphone into a emulation machine with the best of both worlds: connect it to a TV (some phones are capable of doing that) and a bluetooth controller to couch play or just use the phone with a controller for portable gaming. I'm considering doing that to my galaxy s10 later on (it's not a cheap phone, it's still very powerful so I guess I could play almost everything available), maybe in one or two years when I will consider buying a new smartphone (I'm love messing up with configurations, the only thing I care is that the final result is practical and stylish, I don't mind the process to get there).

Excellent video. I remember only a few years ago the Android boxes coming out of China were very closed systems... preinstalled with bloat and hard to work around.
This is amazing stuff for an Android TV box.
    - if set up right, might become a nice machine that the kiddies can play too (trying to keep a plug and play form somehow).
PSClassic modding -> I hear Russ might make a video on that sometime (fingers crossed).
I personally like to keep PS stuff on the PSClassic only,
The SNES Classic for SNES and NES stuff.
    - it's a type of History Lesson for the babies : I remember a nephew saying to me when I first brought home an 8BitDo Pro controller
    - oh hey = that is the same controller as the Nintendo! :D
-> yes, but this one has no wires :D :D :D
Exciting times for the Android space. Fingers crossed on the next set of stronger chipsets/DreamCast Emulation (Chao Garden, and Shenmue minigames on the go, here I go).

@Retro Game Corps Hi, just a heads up, buying this android box today is a hit or miss situation if using emuelec is what's intended.
For what I managed to gather from reading lot's of people complaining lately, maybe some firmware change or something, can't boot emuelec... In my case a brand new Sandisk 128Gb Ultra SD can't boot, only an old 16gb sd card (which is SDHC) I had lying around booted successfully. Other than that I could also boot with success from an usb pen 64Gb, but that defeats the purpose of having only 2 USB ports where I planned to use for 2 controllers.
That said maybe this isn't the box to recommend anymore, I bought Rg351P and PowKiddy V90 out of your recommentions and I'm pretty happy with both of them, but unfortunately pretty disapointed with this HK1 MUB box :/

One of the main downfalls of these boxes is they are using older versions of MAME from 2012 so all the extra games that were added since 2012 and all the bug fixes that were added since 2012 are missing. If the most current arcade experience is what you want get a mini or SSF PC and run it with Windows or Linux using the latest emulators for the best experience.
