I saw at least part of this documentary many years ago, and thought it was amazing. Robert Palmer's take on Gershwin is particularly interesting, and I wish he had done more with Gershwin's Songbook. I have little doubt but that he would bring something utterly his own to those works, and I think that would have been a VERY good thing, indeed.

I loved his attitude towards music. He loved music. He loved to create music. He loved to sing. He could sing virtually any style.
Robert was such a gem. Sorely missed.

Obviously his taste evolved , since in another interview he stated he didn’t particularly like musicals.
@busyhive In an interview he said opera and Broadway show tunes were over and under his head. I understand completely what he was saying!
He did not begin to like musicals, is what I get from this interview. But it's the songs, the WORDS to the songs, that he's attracted to.
