the fact that rocky acts more responsible mature than his own Mom that's heartbreaking

Reminds me of the explosive row my mother and I had when she caught me smoking. I was 15. OMG, she got so angry with me! I realise now that the only reason she got so mad at me is because she cared about me deeply. Like Rocky I was born noticeably different too. I can laugh about that argument now (in fact we both did years later 🤣🤣😢🤣) but I don’t half miss her now that she’s gone…she died six years ago this month at just 59 years old…rip mum…

This was a powerful scene. It shows that despite all her affection for her son she also felt trapped. She turned to drugs and men for her “ escape”

I think she was into drugs and men before Rocky came along!!!!!

I didn’t say she started after he was born. But from what I understand coming from the real mom, it escalated. She actually didn’t stop using drugs until after the movie was released.

Wow…my life just the opposite when I was a teenager, lol
My mom telling me all you care about is getting high and laid…I reply back all you care about is donating to charities that hate you…and giving all my expensive clothes to the kids in school who bully me.

I would've done drugs too if I'd had a mom like that. Actually, I did have a mom like that.... and I did do lots of drugs, lmao. She cared more about looking like a superhero to the public than she did her own goddamn son. She sure wasn't too good to judge the shit out of me though.

@@chilliecheesecake I did not really do drugs in fact I never even drank…I now occasionally take Kratom as it is a godsend for anger and my crippling anxiety and helps me with my severe PTSD…but I have over done Kratom and it was hell getting off of it…now just once or twice a week…really the gym is the best “Drug” in the World for me…just need to get back in there…but she always thought I did drugs. She is still hard on me. When I start bulking up from working out she sees me and starts yelling about me about how bad steroids are for you…I have never touched them.

@@Shadowx011 I'm terribly sorry to hear that my man. I likewise have crippling anxiety, just got diagnosed with C-PTSD (which was actually a relief in a weird way), and I know well how it feels, like your brain is in a wheelchair but your body appears to be doing just fine... as far as drugs and alcohol go, you're way smarter than I was and I hope you stay clear of all that mess (besides, of course, prescribed medications, but that's not really the same thing). Kratom has helped a whole lot of people with our sorts of problems, but like you said it can be as addicting as any other drug. It's actually quite similar to opiates and pain pills, so that might explain the hellish withdrawals. I believe you're absolutely right about the gym and exercise. I used to run laps every night/every other night, sometimes I'd run 3 miles as fast as I possibly could and when I was all done I'd just lay down on the ground, unable to catch my breath quickly enough, feeling the biggest rush you could possibly imagine. Like you I need to get back to my healthy habits. And man I know it sucks when the old lady gives you hell and seems to micromanage you, but your wife is only doing it because she cares and she worries about you. Maybe she's not going about it the right way, and maybe she's not communicating her fears properly, but I've been around the block and a real friend will give you shit if they think you're on drugs. Even if you're clean as a whistle.
Anyways my man, thank you for sharing, truly. It's always helpful to be able to speak with someone who understands. Take good care of yourself and stay positive, no matter how dark it gets.... peace love and blessings to you 🙏

My parents knew not to slap me. I would hit them back. They raised me to stand up for myself. So they have to accept that....But I never hit them. I respected my parents. I just stood up for myself a couple times because I was innocent.

@@mcgannahanskyjellyfetti6854 Sort of. That was called, “The Mask”. This is a fantastic movie and a true story. Rocky Dennis was an incredible inspiration to all who knew him. His mother raised him to not believe he was different just because of the way he looked.
