I wish they woulda put that scene in the movie. I wish the movie woulda lasted a little longer. I wish Rocky was still with us. He had more heart than 100 men!
The guy playing guitar at funeral, and who Cher was making out with earlier in the movie, name is Les Dudek. He was Cher’s guitar player at the time for her band and was her on and off again boyfriend for a few years. He also played in Steve Miller Band and was a member of The Allman Brothers Band, he actually co-wrote the song Ramblin Man with Gregg Allman and played lead guitar on the recording. Fun little fact.
Everytime a family member passes, I feel like Dozer and Rocky. I don't want be there but like Rocky said quoting Red "No One Ever Dies". I always remember the good times.
I saw in an interview that the real rusty Dennis said that this movie was a fairy tale but the heart of rocky was true to the core he was a kind gentle kid who loved everyone...
I imagine this movie was heavily Hollywooded up. I'm sure the real Rocky was a nice kid and all but they made him out to be some kind of saint that was just too beautiful for this world. Only in fairy tales and Hollywood movies is someone that good of a person.
I was five years old when this movie came out.Saw at the theater and loved it ever since. My mom bought me and my brother the VHS wore it out.About 20 years later it came out on cable with this scene added and I was upset it wasnt added to the final cut. With this scene I cry even more.Rest in peace Roy L.Dennis aka Rocky.
I'm by no means a Cher fan! But Mask is certainly one of the best, movies I've ever seen! That's for sure! And they should've left this, scene in the movie!
Scenes that take away from the Movie are usually deleted. As cool as this is, it wouldn't have added anything to the Movie. The Focus was on Rocky. His Mom wanted this scene in the Movie.
I love it, "21guns Red! " then "Hang on a second Red! " and then the other two guys with the accordion in the steel guitar just like nothing's happened just walk up and start jamming while people in the background are running for their lives
everybody saying this scene was in the movie and not deleted, it was not in the theatrical release back in '85 .... i'm wondering if people are confusing it with a scene that *is* in it, where Cher walks outside to the porch, where Rocky's sitting with his dog Screech, when the gang ride up and Gar orders him to go inside to get him a beer... then they all gather around him in the kitchen when Rocky discovers the new suit they surprised him with to go to his graduation in...
I'm not sure why its deleted. I can think of only three reasons. 1) It doesn't "move" the story along enough as it doesn't directly related to Rocky 2) Copyrights of Little Egypt (which is essentially an Elvis song---watch Roustabout) 3) Shortens the length of the movie to the allotted time frame.
@@terrimoon6501 This scene is not in the original cut. I saw this movie in 1985 when it came out. This is the first time I've seen anything about Red dying.
They should have kept all scenes in whats the point of a movie if they take out scenes if they didnt want the scene they shouldnt have filmed the the scene!!!!
A lot of people are buried with their bikes, cars, or some other possession they cherished. Most aren't actually stolen though. It's just for sentiment and respect for the dead.
@@smitty4493 never know that. I don’t think they missed out not having him in the movie. The movie was about Rocky’s last year and he wasn’t around that time why put him in the movie ?
I ordered the dvd of "mask" and was sadly disappointed. The deleted scenes added nothing to the film-and this scene made Sam Elliot's character cartoonish. The original also had better music-Bob Seger, the DVD has Bruce Springsteen's music, which was Rocky's favorite. But I thought Bob Seger's music was more in line with the hardcore biker life. A really bad DVD..the VHS from the 80's was better. IMO
dam?? this shouldve made the cut.... theres at least 5 other scenes we could of did without,, definitely in my top ten dramas.... cher and sam elliot were epic in this one..
So he was just missing from the rest of the movie with no explanation? This reminds me of Almost Famous. They deleted the scene where Jeff and Russell iron out their differences. So then the ending where everything is all hunky doory make no sense. Or did they just continue on with the movie and pretend that this scene never happened?
I agree...even though in real life Rocky Dennis was a huge Springsteen fan, they couldn't get the rights to the music. So they used Seger's instead, which in my opinion, was infinitely better for the vibe of the film. (After the movie was released, and Springsteen heard about it, he agreed to let his music be played in the directors cut)
I wish they woulda put that scene in the movie. I wish the movie woulda lasted a little longer. I wish Rocky was still with us. He had more heart than 100 men!
Gary Price They did in the dvd version, I know it wasn’t on the vhs but i remember i was like i never saw this part
And more brains. He was damn near a genius.
False, his heart was average sized
yeah I wish..
Agreed
This scene actually clarifies why Rusty looks down the highway and adds those tacks to Rocky's map at the end of the movie.
Rocky said he wanted to go to Europe with Ben. That's why she put the tacks on the map.
Now you can go anywhere you want to baby....that was the point...

Thanks for the info 👍
Who hasn't Cher been with!!!
@@november1120 Your right about that!!!😮
Thanks so much for that. I love music, no matter what kind, type, or tempo! It's all heavenly 💞!

In the scene where Rocky died, Gar tells Rusty says "I gotta go do this thing with Red.." like he was alive.

That's just awesome , wow
very touching.the closing statement by rock....
interesting perception of what he thinks of death, as he himself is close to his own.

What’s wrong with Cher?😂
Being buried with your Bike is awesome!!
his most prized possession
😂
This young MAN humbled me and this movie......♥️♥️♥️💪💪💪
I Could Watch this movie Mask 24/7 & Never get Tired of it 💖✌👍
I grew up watching this.
Same here
Sam really rocks that 'stache! I swear it's high definition.
loved him in road house
For those that don't know, the guy playing guitar is Les Dudek, who played with Allman Brothers and Steve Miller Band
I wish this scene wasn't deleted.Such an awesome scene
It’s in the Dvd Directors cut. Rusty in real life hated that they cut it originally too.
I like when the dude loses his shit and starts shooting and the instruments just come into the frame and start JAMMING
Wish they would put out a extended version of the movie
This is how bikers value family
I love this movie and it’s definitely to be cherished and this scene made me cry Rest In Peace Red.🙏🏻
I can't believe so much good stuff was cut from this movie.

Then you would have a 4 hour movie.

Love this movie!

I always wondered why the movie never depicted Rockies older brother. I think it would have added more depth to an otherwise amazing movie....
He left home when Rocky was 11, he was gay and lived secretly for a few years he died of Aids in 1987

One of the best films of all time ..and sam elliott 🤪
What a great movie...
Love this classic!
It is kind of stupid they deleted this scene. It clarifies a lot about Cher's character.
Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out why this scene was deleted.....
In the movie I think red was played a very good 40s actor ...such a good movie ..soery not good at words ...
Das ist ja unglaublich ich wusste überhaupt nicht dass es herausgeschnittene Szenen gibt wie viele Szenen gibt es aus dem Film die Maske
Actor Harry Carey Jr. (Red) is still alive and kickin' though!
Great flim great cast
my favorite movie
Nobody ever really dies. Rocky donated his body to science. And continues to live on and save lives. He should be made a saint!
I'm glad they cut out this scene. Seems kind of silly.
smart move to delete this scene,Rocky's death was more than enough.
0:36 - Reds dead baby ! Reds dead.
Most of the deleted scenes are in the director's cut DVD
Funeral don't have to be fancy they can be happy and celebrate life like they were doing.

definitely not in the theater release... i went back around 5 or 6 times when this came out

Buried Red with his bike and celebrated by his motorcycle family. Better way to ride through Heaven than the Sons of Anarchy ever could when Jax died.

It’s so crazy because children like me were sold.

I love how people shout guns in movies as if the bullets won't eventually come back down and possibly kill someone a mile away. 😂
