- Bang...Jan 1992, everybody's still sleeping from Xmas 1991 and in comes Kingmaker from the left to score a debut Top 40. Scorchin'. Smashing video; no digital in those days, just a bloke painting on glass, and real chickens too.
I agree, hugely underrated band and I too had no idea this existed. Great to see, so many awesome memories from this band. Eat Yourself Whole indeed!
Saw these guys play so many times at venues in Hull. Often used to see Myles in record shops around Hull too! Good times.....
So underrated. x
Great band - Eat yourself whole was one of the best albums from those times. Saw them live at the Mill in Preston, maybe 1994. Met Loz Hardy before they played, top bloke. Amazing show!! Good times :)
Mill in Preston, that was probably Elastic supporting.
...Do you mean Elastica? Ive seen Elastica too, so it may have been them? It was sooo hot, there was sweat dripping off the low ceilings. Great gig!
@@dk5468 Yeah - I think spell check got it, or I can't spell. Fairly sure it was Elastica on that tour (1994).
Yes, you're right. From memory, Elastica made it pretty big not long after that time. They were pretty good live too! Good times :)
First song I ever loved, too good!
I had no idea there was a video for this! Ahhh thanks so much for uploading. This band deserved far, FAR better treatment than they received. I'd like to see them get reassessed as the talented, worthy group they truly were.
It was indeed a glass painting, shot with an extra 16mm camera - James Deegan, Director.
Whatever happened to Loz?
Seen them play live at forem in barrow in Furness met the guys and got the autographs they were brilliant happy days
I remember coming to play in Barrow, it was the last date of our epic UK tour in 1991.
andreja0 some great bands came to barrow at that time did you enjoy it
I seem to remember a sense of euphoria that we'd reached the end of the 50 dates. We'd played our hometown show at the Adelphi just before so it was just a little extra treat on the end.
andreja0 tell me the name of your band its not coming to me at the moment racking my brains
Was looking for the metal Kingmaker but I dig this
John, your drumming is so good on this, along with all other Kingmaker tunes! Saw you guys recently with the new lineup at 100 Club. Amazing band! "Through it all shines little miss Kingmaker!"
Kind words - thanks. I did go to town on 'Scrape'...in the best possible taste...
Thank you for posting! this song got me outta a tite spot!
Thank God for youtube.. ive lost my casette! hahahaahaha!
Great song, great memories
This guy's a vocal dead ringer for Andy Sturmer (late of Jellyfish) and/or vice-versa.
MTV UK 120 Minutes with VJ Paul King 1992.
Hands up if in your mind the Chart Show fascinating facts boxes appeared at around 00:50.
Yeah, hand up here!!!
LOZ!!!!!
Absolutely! ❤
❤❤❤
👌👌
anyone know where the live sections were filmed, if indeed one show, i think it looks like the princess charlotte leicester? i attended many of their smaller early gigs and i'm 95% sure thats me with the floppy hair clapping at the end.
I can't remember where we filmed it. I thought it was the Powerhaus in Islington, which disappeared years ago. It might have been the Charlotte though. I'll ask Myles, he might remember.
Is the bass player wearing a Hull City FC football shirt?
Yeah! He used to wear it on stage from time to time.
@@andreja0 Are the band from Hull?
@@GreenLad38 Yes - well, just outside, although we all lived in Hull itself.

Just heard this song for the first time on web station AOTP. Sorry it took me over 30 years. Good sound!
