The reason why Tamil say their language is very old comparing to other dravdian languages is because, 1. Tamils consider the proto-dravidian language as Tamil itself. Reason, if you compare the vocabularies and the grammar, Tamil has retained the most(though other languages retained few words which are lost in present Tamil). 2. Less Sankritized: Comparing the other Indian language including other Dravidian languages, Tamil is the least Sanskritized language. Meaning, negligibly less foreign influence hence maintaining the originality. Infact, few decades back, an anti-sanskritization movement happened replacing sanskrit words from Tamil with original Tamil words. 3. Archaeology: Keezhadi excavation pushed Tamil and its culture even more back by many centuries. 4. Literature work: so far, Tamil's literature work is the oldest. That's from 3rd sangam Literature. Like you said,it was between 2100 and 2300 years ago. Only Tamils among all the dravidian language speakers can understand Sangam Literature (by atkeast 50%), the so called "proto-dravidian" language. 5. And many referential informations. Like the mentioning of the duration of 2nd and 1st sangam period in 3rd sangam literature. Ther was also mentioning in 3rd sangam literature regarding the destruction of the former literatures through oceanic disasters. It has mentionings of bery old that they are considered as legends...

As a south Indian Tulu speaker, I understand your romanticism towards your mother tongue. Tamil is definitely old but not the oldest. It is still spoken more or less in a similar fashion as the bygone era and this is it's merit. But this doesn't mean that other Dravidian languages are not the oldest. Sangam period is attributed to be existing 100 BC to 250 CE. The oldest inscriptions of Kannada are dated 250 BC. Both languages existed and fluently spoken and well structured to be written as scripts and literature. This suggests that the current Dravidian languages as old as Sanskrit or any other ancient languages from the Middle East and Europe. Let's not put one on the pedestal and others on the street! Let's embrace our Dravidian culture together!

Suhas Shetty I'm one of those few people who knows that there's a Dravidian language called Tulu. (If I'm correct) It's spoken on the borders of Karnataka and Kerala. I somewhere read Tulu is written in both Kannada and Malayalam scripts. But I didn't know Tulu has its own script. I know these things because I'm interested in languages. Btw, my native language is Bengali.
Tulus lived with Tamils too. Many Tulus became Tamil speakers. There is even a Tuluva Vellalar community in Tamil Nadu. They did not have a strong kingdom or king that patronized the language, and it did not have written history and old grammar like Tamil. Many languages, especially the ones from Munda group are older. But the did not establish themself.
It's true, recently got to know about community called Tuluva vellalar, we're tulu speaking people's started learning Tamil & Settled at few regions of Delta zone at Tamilnadu Love for Tulunadu from Tamilnadu will always exist❤
You are wrong. Just see the geographical area of Tamilakkam. Tulunadu is one of the subdivision of Tamil Land. Tulunadu is under Cheras where tamil is the language used. There is no tulu in sangam period 1century BC. Later Tamil in Tulu nadu diverged and became Tulu language is developed. Thuluva vellalars are tamil speaking community not tulu as tulu doesnot exist during Karikala chola reign. Just Type Tulu nadu and know the history
I am a Tuluva Vellala.I am proud of Tulu. I have profound and equal respect for Tuluva the language of my ancestors,Tamil the adopted mother tongue I would say. Kannada the language I learnt at school, home and state where I live.I can read, write and speak in Kannada.
Tulu is now decreasing bro because of Kannada, Even tulunad is getting short, before tulunad was from North Ankola to Sourh Neeleshwara then it became Barkuru to Kasaragodu and now its from Udupi to Mangalore, now present udupi also vanishing, In Tulunad every places had tulu names but after the reunion of Karnataka our whole Tulunadu place names are converted to Kannada, so this is the main thing to vanish Tulu and Tulunad, And Kannada people's say that kannada is older and speak kannada... Any way thank you so much for the support of Tulu❤

Importance of Tamil is that it exists for a long time from the starting of the yugas and survived until current yuga and the first cultural language of earth. Hindu God is protecting it, even if the World extincts, we can easily get back to normal with this single language because it has everything! All 64 arts have their excellent research results and complete knowledge only in the Tamil language. Tamil siddhas traveled universe very frequently and they know all. The moksha or final destination of any soul on earth is moksha. Tamil language has all scientific evidence as well. Due to many invasion most of the evidence were destroyed. Only Britishers, latin, greek, portuguese know the value of Tamil language. For example, they are still predicting weather forecasting without any scientific tools. But that is not at all appreciated by the State. They predicted all natural disasters and political situation for future until this yuga completion. Their calculation is always accurate. Lets learn it simply to expand our knowledge and translate them to other languages atleast, please dont do any plagiarism😅

Tulu and Telugu are younger languages than Tamil. Tamil goes all the way back to the source of both the Dravidian and Aryan [Indo-European] languages. Aurobindo's quote expounds on this: 'For on examining the vocables of the Tamil language, in appearance so foreign to the Sanskritic form and character, I yet found myself continually guided by words or by families of words supposed to be pure Tamil in establishing new relations between Sanskrit and its distant sister, Latin, and occasionally, between the Greek and the Sanskrit. Sometimes the Tamil vocable not only suggested the connection, but proved the missing link in a family of connected words. And it was through this Dravidian language that I came first to perceive what seems to me now the true law, origins and, as it were, the embryology of the Aryan tongues. I was unable to pursue my examination far enough to establish any definite conclusion, but it certainly seems to me that the original connection between the Dravidian and Aryan tongues was far closer and more extensive than is usually supposed and the possibility suggests itself that they may even have been two divergent families derived from one lost primitive tongue.'
Tulu language is very Old and has its own writing system as well. But writing literature on tulu is very less. Very less researches were done on Tulu language since it didn't get royal states during kings times, present days governments of Karnataka also not supporting Tulu researches much. Tulu has its own culture we worship Daivaradhane which is very Old nature worship. Tulu is as old as other Dravidian languages. Tulu writing system was adopted by Malayalam .during 12th century. Anyhow it's very difficult to tell which language is older. We have proof which says Tamil is old language, since we didn't get proof it doesn't mean that Tulu is not old language. Many old Tamil literature also talks about tulu

I'd recommend you to see the documentary called "Thamizhi" - by Hiphop Thamizha. There are 8 episodes. Next level of excavation is about to happen. The script which was called as Tamil brahmi is now called as Thamizhi. The first found script in India was termed as Brahmi, however, when the Tamil script was found, it was termed as Tamil Brahmi. No attempt was made to find actual name of Tamil script untill the keezhadi excavation. But it now officially called as Thamizhi.

Tulu language diverged very early from Proto-South Dravidian, when Kannada-Tamil( not even talking of Malayalam) were inseparable/hadn't been separated( it was before 1200BC or so). This is evident by Tulu's characteristics such as grammar and vocab, which is alien to Kannada/Tamil/Malayalam languages. Of course, we can't talk about Telugu now, but although Tulu has considerable influence of Kannada throughout history, it has somewhat still maintained its originality. Tulu has its own script called Tigalari script, which has been widely used in Tulunaad since the 10-11th century AD, this script is ultimately derived from Grantha script and a large body of Tulu literature still survives in this script, along with in Kannada script. This script was blatantly copied by Ezhuthachan of Kerala in the 17th century CE, to transcribe Malayalam( a cheap hilly and whiny Tamil dialect), when the latter had always been written in Vattelutu scripts. There was no unity among Kalyalis of Kerala, as to what script was best for Malayalam, even until the 17th century CE. The Hindu courts, Muslims and Christians all used different variants of Vattelutu, it was dissimilar among Kalyali Hindus the most. Ezhuthachan was educated in North Kerala, close to Tulunaad, picked on the Tulu script( which was already used by some to write Kalyalam), but he added the non-sense Chilluaksharas and other stupid sounds, to transcribe the foreign Arab/Persian/Afghan/Syrian and what not sounds, characteristic of Kalyali language.
Where the heck, The Dravida term even existed 200 years ago. That term never existed anywhere in the world at any given Time what so ever , before the Caldwell was given a new form for that.when The Christian missionary Caldwell came to India ,then in order to spread the religion he started to learn south Indian languages. He then found Tamil is Very unique Very old.alsk he said all the south Indian languages was born out of Tamil. Then what happened was, The language leaders didn't like that and they suggested to bring a term call Dravida and proto dravida instead of The term Tamil. From that onwards Those leaders Carry forward that as a theory. But in reality that is actually Tamil. Tamil has its own unique set of rules as a grammar. But all the other Indian languages have Sanskrit based grammar. Tamil + Sanskrit= Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam.

Mysore people even took the Demi god and constructed Guliga temple and Swamy koragajja temple 😂 Whenever there is success, they claim it to be Karnataka/Kannadiga. On the other hand, we had Tamilians respecting Tulu before. Tamil Nadu first CM had even thanked in his speech staing Tulu is the mother of Tamil. I know Tulu is very close old Tamil. Does Tulu has sanskrit words like kannada, telugu, and malayalam? Tamil has it own words and it is standalone by itself, but tamil brahmins mix lot of sanskrit word hile talking, mixing gradually goes down by the community ladder. Tamil newspapers during the indepence time use to have sanskritized Tamil because it was run by brahmins. This is what happening in different parts of the world today under the pretext of “nationalism”.
Even in old tamil books tulu language mentioned not Kannada, and region of tulunadu called erumainaadu, but tulu somewhat lost its script because of Kannada impact, and kannada impacted by Sanskrit unlike tamil. tamil also have Sanskrit impact but tamil have different words for same meaning so without Sanskrit tamil can be Speakable language language. New words for new things 🎉. I wish all other Dravidian language should follow this

Whenever I see Tulu writings on social media, I find that most of them are in kannada script 😕. But it almost feels like, extinction of Tulu is inevitable. And it feels really nad though.
@@samueldragomire yeah people only talk about 3rd sangam. But tholkapiyam the oldest tamil book we have now is from 2rd tamil sangam with is mentioned in the book

Importance of Tamil is that it exists for a long time from the starting of the yugas and survived until current yuga and the first cultural language of earth. Hindu God is protecting it, even if the World extincts, we can easily get back to normal with this single language because it has everything! Tulu and Telugu are younger languages than Tamil. Tamil goes all the way back to the source of both the Dravidian and Aryan [Indo-European] languages. Aurobindo's quote expounds on this:
'For on examining the vocables of the Tamil language, in appearance so foreign to the Sanskritic form and character, I yet found myself continually guided by words or by families of words supposed to be pure Tamil in establishing new relations between Sanskrit and its distant sister, Latin, and occasionally, between the Greek and the Sanskrit.

Tulu has been documented since adishankaracharya's time
Watch the sanskrit movie on Adishankaracharya, it has tulu in many portions

Tulu is a beautiful or in Tulu, “Porluda” language. There are words in Tamil Telugu and Kannada taken from Tulu. Surely Tulu is the oldest language and definitely older than Telugu and Malayalam. So, oldest Tulu then Tamil and Kannada. And in culinary, Tulunadu is superb. Kori Ajadina (Chicken Sukka or Dry) is number one. ಬಲೇ ಚಾ ಪರ್ಕ (Invited for Tea). And of course thanks and welcome in Tamil cannot be matched. நன்றி வணக்கம். I love Tamil and all languages of India and of the World.
Sangam literature talks about so many nadus like kongu nadu, kuda nadu, vengi nadu, thondai nadu, kadamba nadu etc.
Tulu has its own grammar, more consonants and complex words than tamil.

While I appreciate your passion for Tulu, as a Tuluva I also want to let you know that Tuluvas are equally eccentrically proud of their culture and language like any other people with their own language and culture. So a comparison mechanism might be problematic. Romanticism of any language and culture that makes us uncritical about our own past is dangerous.
Even in every 100 of new words are introduced in Tamil for new invention (radio, tv, internet, paper) if one language create new words according to current generation it can withstand for long long years in world only English and Tamil only have this unique strategy. New words for new things 🎉. I wish all other Dravidian language should follow this

A language should be able read, write and speak without the help of other foreign languages. Will Tulu or Kanada, or Telugu or Malayalam able to read and write without Sanskrit help ? Please let me know. #Keeladi #Adichanallur opens broader gateway for Origin of Proto-Tamil or Tamili script. Thank you. Tulu should be recognized, no doubt in that.
Its called Lipi/Script not Language
nandraa soneergal intha Aryan/Sanksri cross breedgaluku. tulu is just a slang of old tamil, it is a cross breed between that pest sanksrit, prakrit and tamil. Tulu does not even have its own script. it uses pallava grandha script
We are divided ! Castes claim superior complex, we were all tribal - nobody decended with stamp on forehead of brahmin/shetty/poojary/gowda etc etc - reunite & claim for lost land - my kasargod ❤
Cool bro respect on u as well as our Tulu ❤

For all the people who think Tamil is oldest language just read the book "ತಮಿಳು ತಲೆಗಳ ನಡುವೆ" . You will understand the scripting, story building techniques of Tamils.
The author of that book who himself lived in Tamilnadu with Tamil people.

tulu is oldest
@@Neo-ld6qv thamzhi is oldest bro.
You should learn Malayalam too, there are no more movies in Malayalam which is completely in Malayalam.
Oru Vadakan Veeragatha is an excellent movie which also tells about Tulunadan Kalari, which is probably from Tulu speaking people.
Tulu Language is oldest language after Tamil. Tulu language has mentioned in 4th century Tamil poem 👍. Tulu dialect is Tamil. But now convert has kannada. Am staying in mangalore past 5 years its very good people. I can bet after 10 years there is no Tulu language imposition of kannada 🙃. Kannada that old halekannada is 5 th century only. Hale kannada is medival Tamil. We are dravidans not to fight be happy we are brothers and sister ❤️
No. Tulubhase is the earliest to isolate itself from Tamil-Kannada Languages Group, Because of its Uniqueless & Lesser Similarities. U first started ur comment itself by claiming tamil is oldest & u expect other communities of dravida region to not opposse your false claim. Tulubhase is 'eldest' among all.
Technically speaking. Sign language is the mother of all languages.
Actually old Tamil & present Tamil don't have lot of difference, we can easily bring back old words‼️
And we don't accept proto Dravidian language, people who can't accept Tamil said there was a proto Dravidian language ‼️
Wait until 2026, NTK will win election in Tamil Nadu, And we Tamils will show our Tamil historical evidence ❤️💯
No.. Old tamil and present tamil are very different.
Tani tamil iyakkam was a failed movement in tamilnadu to avoid loan words in tamil. 😢
Also new tamil uses different script 😥
@@CJ-ud8nf😂 Telugu/ Kannada Iyyakam blockbuster in Karnataka nd Andhra bro
@@CJ-ud8nf No, only few words are Sanskrit influenced words because of vijayanagar rule.
We can bring those old words easily by instructing movies & TV shows to use old words then those old words will get registered in people's mind‼️
But the present government won't do it. TN needs NTK to implement it💯✨
See all the proto dravidian words all words are present in old Tamil and even mordern tamil.
We can understand politics-
Proto dravidian is nothing but a term introduced to hide old Tamil.
That's all
They can only change the name but not words !!!
Soon All the fakes will be removed!!!
@@CJ-ud8nfI'm a normal mordern Tamil speaker I can understand 90% of old Tamil (sangam) so do any Tamil speaker who know nothing but Tamil..
Sick everywhere 🗑

I'm tamil. When i meet tulu friend, lot of animals, birds, vegitables & many words are similar to Tamil. So, i'm also interested, what is real tulu? & What about tulu real writing words.?
USA has some tulu groups. Now there are some tulu movies
Tulu needs its own State to survive. Tulunadu is the only solution.
Dakshina Kannada district is 4800 sq km. That makes it bigger then Goa which is 3200 sq km. Add Udupi as well. Then it would be 8400 sq km.
Hope this happens. That would be the only way to Save this ancient language.
Konkani saved due to Goa. Similarly we need Tulunadu to save Tulu.
How can i contact you ? Thank you for speaking about Tulu. solmelu (Thank you)
You can DM me through my instagram: @samuel_dragomire
