I had the pleasure of seeing Vaughn Benjamin live for the first time with Midnite in 2010, in my home town Sacramento, CA.
I was in awe of Midnite’s sound.. Hypnotic… Vaughn’s presence was captivating, and he and his brother Ron Benjamin’s harmonies were so beautiful. I got to see Vaughn live again in 2017 solo as Akae Beka at the One Love One Heart Reggae Festival.
This performance in Oakland, CA May 19, 2019 was the last time I would ever get to see Vaughn Benjamin sing. This was about 6 months before he passed away.
Former Midnite lead singer Vaughn Benjamin later Akae Beka, passed away on Monday November 4, 2019 at Tradition Medical Center, Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Such a beautiful voice and presence. He will truly be missed in this world.
