  • Victor Davis Hanson describes the moral hypocrisy of the elite-left, and how they use power and influence to control the middle and lower classes. This comes at a time when the wealthy pollute far more than the average citizen, but justify their actions anyway, while piling blame on everyone else.
    Watch the full episode here: • The State of the Union...
    Victor Davis Hanson is an American classicist, military historian, columnist, and farmer. He has been a commentator on contemporary politics for the National Review and The Washington Times and is currently the Martin and Illie Anderson Senior Fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution.

Hanson was awarded the National Humanities Medal in 2007 by President George W. Bush, and was a presidential appointee in 2007-08 on the American Battle Monuments Commission. His latest book, The Dying Citizen, was published in October 2021.

    When Extinction Rebellion kicked off, an acquaintance on Facebook (a friend of my brother's) posted on Facebook that he supported them and hoped they'd become a major political force. A few days later, he posted pictures from his safari holiday in Africa. When I pulled him up about his hypocrisy, he argued that he'd booked his holiday through a special environmental holiday company that planted trees as carbon offsetting. So, basically, he deluded himself to justify him doing what he ruddy well liked, while demanding that poorer people stop going to benidorm for a fortnight.

      Marxist (or similar) government has to wield great power over almost all aspects of an individual's life, because that's the only possible way to even come close to achieving "equality of outcome" (which, I agree with here, isn't really what these elites care about). That, in a nutshell, is why no one should desire that type of government, because among many other problems, it means almost complete loss of personal autonomy and the motivation to strive to be one's best. (If you know you won't be allowed to benefit from trying as hard as you can, why try hard?)

      There's no such thing as a "normal" American. We are too diverse.. The "tragic" thing, is that we've allowed them to DIVIDE US.
      We've had MANY good, "Governments". Some FOUNDED & CREATED This very nation. "We the People" have become APATHETIC, and allowed our power to be transferred to them. WE MUST TAKE IT BACK.

    Hypocrisy doesn't exist and it never has. It is and always has been hierarchy. Hierarchy is the asymmetric distribution of power aka one side gets to do something the other doesn't. It can be based in meritocracy which for many seems like a reasonable way to distribute power or it can be based on heredity or loyalty which is just a different form but is often frowned upon based on the "enlightenment" and the modern world (It wasn't so much in the ancient world but the scribes of the modern world have conditioned modern people that this is something to frown upon even though it has always existed and has just become more concealed over time). The reality is that those who have power, whether its culturally, institutionally, martially, etc will exercise said power how they see fit aka do what they want while those out of power will suffer what they must. Those out of power rationalize this helplessness by resorting to saying things like I just want to grill and be left alone which will never happen because the point of power is to exercise it over others.

Elitist leftists are incredibly hypocritical and some security detail of their political representatives will not be able to withstand infuriated crowds

    • @doh917
      @doh917 Год назад +2

      @@ericeverett2353 The story you are told in school is not accurate to how things actually play out in real life. The "revolutions" were not some mass discontent that rose up out of nowhere. From the French Revolution to every revolution that followed, there was a counter-elite who riled up the masses to usurp power from the existing elite. That's the reality behind popular uprisings. But it makes for a better mythology to think the population rises up together. That's not reality. The reality is that "the people" are not organized. It's only an ambitious counter elite who is organized and discipline enough to use the masses as the battering ram to gain power for themselves. That's how reality really works and that's also why most people are misinformed from their "public education"

The "intelligentsia" or the brain of a society do not have the martial prowess to maintain their power so they must convince the populace to support their ambitions. This can be through promises of honor, riches, or whatever incentive structure that will be effective at the time. The ideal is to have the interests of the aristocracy aligned with the rest of the people but it always inevitably devolves into self interest and corruption at the top and the construction of barriers to withstand any pressures from aspiring lower classes.

    Nature of Versai ~. “What was the Short Term Significance of the Treaty of Versailles?
    Nature: One of the most famous peace treaties at the end of World War 1, to make peace between the five nations: France, Germany, Britain, Austria-Hungary and America. It consisted of a number of clauses, including one making Germany take the blame for the start of the war, a.k.a the War Guilt Clause.
    Origin: Signed in June 1919 by the Allied and Associated Powers i.e. Germany, France etc. Written in the Place of Versailles, hence the name.
    Purpose: To create peace after world war 1 - restrictions of Germany's land, military, and suing them lots of money. Many believe that it was one of the key reasons for world war 2 i.e. Germany breaking the chains of Versailles.
    The Treaty of Versailles is a huge document, with plenty of clauses and restrictions, mainly aimed at Germany, getting them to take the blame for the first world war - fair or not fair? It was written in the Palace of Versailles by the giants of the world at the time…”. . .
