Nico Vega: *uses sarcasm to blatantly say how much extreme patriotism and jingoism sucks and how corrupt America is* Everyone in the comments: America is beautiful. I'm Conservative and proud. What's satire? Sarcasm? Never heard of that, sounds un-American.
Akari Grey Meh, sorta. Jingoism is essentially extreme patriotism, as in "my country can do absolutely no wrong whatsoever and anything bad/fucked up that we do is completely justified." A little bit of patriotism, as in, "my country's sorta nice, sometimes, I guess," is fine.
PrishtinasiDE Yes, because Nazism is the best substitute for a corrupt society, that leads to absolutely no problems and/or attempted genocides (please not that I'm being heavily sarcastic and do not support Nazism at all).
It is actually the exact opposite of what you say. In an interview with the band (on wsj) the band actually said the song is about people paying more attention to the political climate and standing up and speaking about what they believe in. Essentially they believe not enough people are paying attention to what is going on in politics in the US because they are to worried about stupid shit like what Kim named her baby or who is busy blowing who. They are hoping the song will get more people involved with whaf is going on with the political climate of the US. It is in no way mocking or making fun of the US. Actually no political party is mentioned.
Boomer Dimmig When I first made this comment I had just finished playing Bioshock Infinite (which this song is in the trailer for), so I may have mixed up the lessons of the game and the lessons of the song itself, here.
I liked how your conversation wasn't just a giant rage on each other like most youtube fights and how when you where arguing and discussing you were both calm and nice. I wish there were more people like you on youtube
Some people think this song is about hating America, some people think it about loving america but both groups agree on one thing this song rocks so I have an idea how about everyone come to there own conclusions about the meaning of the song and don't hate on people who come to a conclusion different then yours me personally I think its like fortunate son by CCR it's a song about how bad the government is but how good the people are but then again everyone is free to draw there own conclusions
Most, if not all, of you are wrong in the meaning. It is not made to support any political group and it definitely isn't about "how much America sux". It's actually the opposite. In an interview on The WSJ the band said they believe heavily in Freedom of Speech (1st Amendment on the Bill of Rights) and they want people to start paying attention to the social, economic, and political climate of the US. Beast, not necessarily a term for something bad, is most likely referring to the US being a Beast, or big player, in the world market and NATO or UN. Basically they want people to start paying attention to what is going on with the US. The Government was designed to be guided by the voice of the people. If the people are to busy worrying about who is humping who than the Government has to make its own decisions and that causes the split in political parties like we have now.
Watching this in 2022 - this needs to be played with our National Anthem right now. We're sick of the government's manipulation; it's past time for another revolution to remind the government of their place.
I am not an American, but I see this song as being patriotic. It symbolizes America's just and honourable vendetta to liberate the discriminated - ironic due to how America has developed. Either way, this song is an eulogy to this vendetta and goal and wishes to encourage people to stand with the good intentions and struggles with America, so as to really be alive.
This will always be the first bad -azz song to remind us of The Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters Movie! :) @VAfandomUSA Feb. 14th, 2014 can't get here quick enough!!!
With that comment I was just trying to tell the people that this song isn't patriotic in the way they think patriotic is, because most thought it was about how great "america" as a whole is.
I'm so sorry from imagine dragons 0:00 - 0:45 Beast from Nico Vega 0:00- 0:43 I bet Dan Reynolds gave the beat to her and she didn't really edit it much.
Not necessarily. It is patriotic to the American idea. The problem is that America is not America anymore. This is against what America has become but it's about standing up for the little guy, something that America used to be, and what it can be, if we stand up against the corrupted powers that be, against the beast America has become. I can' t think of anything more patriotic than that.

PrishtinasiDE Yeah, they did... I'm not quite sure what you're saying here.

Not an American. But love the song, love the spirit. awesome singing vocals.
I thought the bioshock trailers made better music videos for this song. Watching the trailer for the first time was... kind of an intense experience.
This is very high-quality nice job ign!

This song is extreamly patriotic. It is about getting back to our roots and away from the horrible politics that have put America in jepordy.
Everytime i hear this song now i reminisce over bioshock infinite...
Best music video I've ever seen
Love the message!
"Supression is a mother... prison"
I was wondering if they would show the word and I lost it when I saw what they've done.
This video is so sweet!

Dope song, 2024. Relevant more than ever
COME ON PEOPLE
Such an amazing song
Awesome Song, Awesome Trailer, and More Awesome Game. One of the Best Games i've ever Played.
One does not simply listen to this song at a respectable level
1:45 freedom intensifies
+matejskalda1 I was like: "MERICA!".
Thats a really well done lyric video
I think the reason why they uploaded this video was the way that the song blew up after the trailer went live and also how the song fit the trailer
This song is so.... AWESOME #Bioshock Army
Bioshock
If ever a time where this has been more relevant than now.
Bioshock Infinite
Awesome!
Bioshock infinite I love you!!!!
Great job with the visuals. Props.
I believe it fits well with infinite because it's referencing the civil war in infinite and singing about America is brilliant
Excellent explanation, I couldn't agree more.
seems like you got one! GZ!

Just and honorable are not the two words I would use to describe america's vendetta against civilization
How about "ironic"?
Liam Grogan
I don't think you understood what I meant with my comment.
i think the ironic already start from "it symbolizes America" part
This song would go well for far cry 5
best lyrics vid ever welldone
Reminds me of one of my most favorite games... Bioshock Infinite
come on i can't be the only person who liked this song because of Bioshock Infinite

@VAfandomUSA Feb. 14th, 2014 can't get here quick enough!!!
This is surprisingly good.
it is coming...
I'm playing this on 4th of July
With that comment I was just trying to tell the people that this song isn't patriotic in the way they think patriotic is, because most thought it was about how great "america" as a whole is.
ahhhh..... good ol' bioshock.
So much for Hope n' Change
One does not simply listen to this song on a socially acceptable volume level
This should be the next national anthem.
the both are great
i reminisce over The Collector when i hear it
Thats..ROCKS! \m/
every time i here this song i think of "the collector" this song usually is on a lot
They do it because it's awesome :D
You are absolutely right. He has a magazine in his gun.
this song seems more politically satirical rather than patriotic.
yeah, it's supposed to be like that.
i feel like its both
I feel like you can't make meaningful political satire without an understanding of, and some strong emotions for, the country youre going off about.
It's both. It is saying that the people must stand up to the beast(government) if they were ever to be subjected to tyranny.
Okay dude- NO its the government talking about people who go AGAINST america "governments dime" as in where rewarded and are story will live on
I'm so sorry from imagine dragons 0:00 - 0:45
Beast from Nico Vega
0:00- 0:43
I bet Dan Reynolds gave the beat to her and she didn't really edit it much.
I know that feel bro!
Can we all just agree that Nico Vega is a freaking boss band?!
yeah
Not necessarily. It is patriotic to the American idea. The problem is that America is not America anymore.
