I give the guy a lot of respect. He took ownership of his mistakes, he seems legitimately upset about it, and he’s trying to make things better. I’ll give anyone respect who does that.
But while he was giving that honest explanation (which I respected as well whole-heartedly) he was tattooing like he was trying to beat the world record at an Etch A Sketch competition. And the end result, is an absolute atrocity.

I stopped watching a year ago when I saw a piece where the 'host/journo' teased a sloth in the amazon calling him "stupid looking" and completely shat on a researcher who did actual proper research work. Taji is waaay too genuine for vice. Just go solo channel already.

Nate’s my brother-in-law. I haven’t spoken to him in a few years and I didn’t know he was being featured in a VICE video until someone sent this to me. He is genuinely a friendly guy at heart with a rough exterior. He did have self-inflicted trials and tribulations; I’m happy to see he’s doing well and learning that life can give you a second chance if you’re willing to take it.
Thanks you VICE, for helping Nate make amends and right his wrongs.

This is the ONLY guy I’ve seen take responsibility for his bad reviews. And I’ve been binge watching these for hours. Despite trying to keep them separate, your personal life can definitely effect your professional life. The repercussions are just much more relevant and severe when your profession is permanently scarring another strangers body who’s not only paying you but trusting you. It’s tough but I’m glad he’s holding himself accountable and moving forward. Best of luck, Nate.

Nate has been my favorite interviewed person so far. I feel really awful and disappointed that people treated him unfairly and didn't stick around to make sure he was okay. Wishing him all the best. Really the most heary warming episode for me
To be fair, yes people have bad days but if it’s a bad day that ruins a tattoo that you’re going to have for life, of course you’re going to be mad, no? I personally would never get a tattoo, but imagine making a decision that “I want this on my body for life” only for the guy to screw it up cuz he’s having a bad day. That’d be pretty bad
Tattoos are permanent and his job is to deliver a good quality tattoo. His costumers aren't there to check up on him, they are there to get a tattoo. And to be honest his work is very poor quality judging by the tattoo he gave Taji

Also, if they didn't feel comfortable having him fix the tattoo, I'm sure there are plenty other artists that would cover it up for free. Yes, even tattoo artists are human and even the best artists in the world have made their own blunders. Try to treat people as you'd want to be treated and remember that they're still human at the end of the day.

I had my own business for many years it was phenomenal, it was successful, I had the best reputation and then my health took a hit and I wasn't feeling well.. a few bad months made my reputation plummet quickly.. I'm actually tearing up right now just writing this because it still hurts my heart. I got burned out mentally and physically and all of my hard work that I put in for all those years went down the tubes quickly.. I ended up losing everything.. my health, my business, my marriage, my career, my income and almost my life 😔
unless people have owned their own business, they have no idea how stressful it can be and how risky and fragile it is..

Vice chooses the best people to do the reporting. Watching Taji in tattoo parlors and strip clubs is funny before anything even starts. His self-awareness helps a lot. He knows how he comes off. This is a GREAT episode.

I have several friends that are very popular talented tattoo artists... and this "host" is exactly the kind of customer that made them all have a policy that all customers need to text or email them your ideas and agree between the two of you on a final design BEFORE you show up to your appointment where you get your actual tattoo.

It is, people here don't understand it what he wanted to it's good. This is showing the most simple tattoo an artist can do. What you need to see is something a little more complex to determine how good they are. His tattoo is apprentice worthy and quality

I love what you doing, as humans we all go through stuff, we all make mistakes. Those things should never define us... Being a tattoo artist is not an easy job... It takes year of skill and practice to master, we put alot of effort and dedication into every piece we do, a little appreciation goes a long way

But it is probably true to his portfolio - you can't dock a guy for producing the work he has shown. If the work is not the same as the portfolio, then you've got a complaint - but not liking the style is not a 'very bad tattoo'.
Nah it’s unique and nice man. It might not be a traditional tattoo in terms of what you mentioned but I think it looks much better than I expected.

This company yelp is very very rude on chat the agent name was Brandon R. he left me on hold for 30 mins. Trying to be nice and explain that I was not just a online business but a local business also. After, a few exchanged questions he got silent and started ignoring me. I would not recommend them to no business.

I do feel sad for whatever Nate was going through that made him lose his artistic vision to get all those negative reviews, but come on. All those stencils he sketched out were messy and all over the place, and that finished product was even worse. I would be Nate’s friend, but I wouldn’t be his client.

I agree he seems like a cool dude,but i think he should stay away from tattooing.
He said it was great and everything he could ask for and i just cringed. That tattoo was nasty, so gross with the thick lines and overdone shading and the surfer is blocky not a real person it’s just not a good tattoo and im sure the first person he shows it to will make him regret getting it.
Yeah I would not get a tattoo here. I couldn’t figure out what was going on on that stencil, it looked like he actually did it free hand but I couldn’t tell. Seems like a nice guy, but when I’m getting tattooed I wanna see precision, someone who takes their time, cleaner line work, etc
