Welcome back to Scotland! Today we wanted to learn more about why Scottish whisky is so well known, so we head to Dewars Aberfeldy for a distillery tour and tasting with chocolate pairings and what a day!
Whisky from Scotland is world renowned and we can understand why now. The distillery tour was eye opening to see how meticulous the process is and the love that goes into every bottle. We're honestly not big spirit drinkers but Dewars definitely positioned their distillery tour and whisky tasting to us in a way that was much more approachable - with chocolate! It's crazy how much the chocolate changes the profile of the whisky and now we're both a lot more open to whisky.
Having all the notes listed in front of us helped with the tasting as well, to an untrained drinker (us both haha) we really feel like our eyes are open to whisky now and will be looking for the Scottish magic around the world.

If people don’t like whisky, Scotland is one of the biggest produces of Gin in the world, and there are loads of distillery’s around where you can go gin tasting!
@@DanegerAndStacey it's the smell ... Choclate won't work ... and i can't drink alcohol now i had a bad flu 19 years ago and my taste buds changed and Alchol now tastes very bitter to me ... so i haven't drunk alcohol in 19 years ... i have to say i don't miss it ... i don't smoke either ... starting to worry i'm a Quaker now lol :P

I literally drooled through this video. Whisky and chocolate....heck ya!! Great video presentation. Several years ago I had the pleasure of touring the Springbank distillery in Campbeltown dating back to 1828. What a great experience. You got it right - whisky is Scottish and whiskey is Irish. The tasting experience after a tour is really special and now you get to enjoy a wee dram of whisky with friends and tell them of your experience. Well done my friends!

@@DanegerAndStacey God made the world in 7 days, BUT?? on Monday he was a bit disappointed, sat back and decided he would take all the best he had made and make and put them into one country, just to be a wee a wee bit special, so he made Scotland.
We make our way to Scotland at least once every 18 months just because we love it so much!! Needless to say, we do really love Whiskey 😆🙌🏼

Hey Dane and Stacey, Just found your channel and watched a bunch of your video's and they're amazing!! We're traveling in Scotland as well and spent a lot of time in the Perthshire area and actually worked in the whisky industry for a while. So very nice to see you two enjoing a proper whisky tasting!

Loved this! I've always loved whisky and have tried more types than I can remember. I can absolutely confirm that whisky and chocolate is a thing, because our Sunday afternoon treat is to pour a whisky, select some dark chocolate, open a good book and CHILL! That hotel was fantastic - you guys really know how to select your accommodation :)

Super liked this. Firstly you observed the very strict drink driving laws in Scotland and that is a credit to you... and then (as I just find that whisky gives me tummy ache) you did a cracking review of a wonderful distillery. The chocolate did look rather yummy and the whole experience was proper interesting. Thanks for taking me along :)
Is the limit lower in Scotland than the rest of the UK? I never drink at all if I am driving so have never bothered finding out what the limits are.
@@caw25sha Yes the limit is lower in Scotland. Their spirit measure has always been 35ml rather than the 25ml in the rest of the UK and perhaps as a result of this the devolved government tightened the laws so that now a half pint of premium lager would put you close to the limit and two drinks in a day could well be over.
@@caw25sha Personally i would ban all and any alcohol consumption with drivers, it shouldn't even be a thing in this day and age.

Les 1266 the spirit measure in Scotland is 25ml too as standard. Bars and restaurants across the uk can choose to use 35ml but the standard is 25.
My dad was an engineer and had several Scotch distilleries as clients. When I was a student I worked for him in the holidays and we spent a few days at Grants in Dufftown. They gave him an old barrel to cut in half and put plants in, and we drove back to London with it in the back of his estate car in the middle of summer. This was before cars had aircon and the car reeked of whisky for weeks. Can you get drunk on fumes?

I know you visited Romania already but the landscapes in your last videos are similar to Brașov County area, also some other parts of Transylvania and Bucovina (north-eastern Romania). Maybe one day you will come. If you do, I can show you arounds in Brașov, my hometown. (one of the most beautiful city in Romania)

Dewars was my first alcoholic beverage! I won a botte when i was 13 by swimming for it at a party. Fun memory, i wasn't even invited, went there on my own, sneaked out from our hotel where my family was sleeping during the night, and i was walking during nightly town, saw an open gate, and just walked in, minute after they were announcing that whoever managed to grab and swim out from the swimming poole the bottle is for them...imagine how i jumped first, and like 20 older men and women after me...now watching back i wonder how i survived it...i cannot swim for the life of me...ah ,teens years...well now i sound like a granny...tsk tsk...the things your videos are do to me ;)

Scotch whisky flavours vary a lot so if you try a few you might find one you like. I don't know where you live but in the UK even ordinary supermarkets sell taster sets of several miniature bottles of various types of Scotch.
It's whisky not whiskey, whiskey is only found outside Scotland because the name whisky is a protected brand.

Curious why it's whiskey and not scotch??
It's whisky not whiskey, it is only called whiskey when made outside Scotland because whisky is a protected brand. Much like how you have to call champagne sparkling wine and prosecco if it is not made in the champagne region of France because the name champagne is also a protected brand like whisky.
Scotch is more of a nickname foreigners call whisky or whiskey.
Gary Mcatear not quite Gary. Whiskey is the term used by Americans and the Irish primarily. Most other whisky producing countries prefer the spelling whisky, including japan, Canada and Sweden. The protected term is scotch, not whisky. Whisky can be made in any country, scotch can only be made in Scotland.
To answer your question Vegan Voyagers, we don’t call it scotch cause we’re from Scotland. The stuff made in the states is known internationally as bourbon but in the states most folk would just call it whiskey. Same with Ireland, I call it Irish whiskey as I’m a Scotsman but they’d call it just whiskey. When I’m in Scotland I call our stuff whisky, when I’m out of Scotland I call it scotch so people know what I’m talking about.

That's exactly the reason we haven't visited. Some people go there just for the channel subs to work the system, but the reality is those followers from Pakistan aren't followers - most don't care about any video you make other than in their country so it's actually detrimental to go. Its a shame, but lots of creators trying to game the system.

As a Scotsman you might be suprised to hear i hate whisky, it's like drinking fire in my opinion and i don't think any amount of chocolate will change my view of it lol. Actually i hate the taste of all alcohol, i don't understand how people can drink the stuff, i will stick to Scotlands other national drink...the good auld Irn-Bru.

@@DanegerAndStacey Irn Bru used to be better before the EU brought in a law to cut out the sugar content. Sooner we out of the EU the sooner we can get the sugar back in our Irn Bru 😃
