I'm about to buy my own home and I'm devouring your videos for tips and ideas for how to make the things that I want to make the place truly mine. I think there's still very much room for a power drill in my life but one of the things that struck me in this particular video is how effective and deliberate a brace is for drilling to a specific depth. I think I just added that to my list of "tools to have". Lovely, lovely work.
Great to see a "Brace" used, as most 'hand_tool' wood workers always make the concession of using a Drill press or corded/less hand drill; and also that unusual plane that you used in the last video, good to see these unusual and antique tools used in the modern era, can you please tell me what that plane was, a filister , Rabbet , or combination, or other, as it's so unique I am unsure what to call it.
Thanks for the comments and question. The plane is a "Router" plane-; ) not at all like our modern plugged in variety but used more for final depth adjustments like I used it here. all the best~
I really enjoy your project videos! :-) Just one question: what us that lovely music in the video? Thanks for all the work put into making and sharing the videos.
Thanks Lou- The brace is an old Millers Falls and the auger bits are a vintage Irwin boxed set. I found the bits on eBay and the brace was my grand-Uncle's. all the best~
Donald, thanks for the question. I'm using two saws in the video- one cross cut, one rip. Coincidentally, in this case they're both 12-in. long and both filed 14ppi. If you look closely you'll see the cross cut has a cherry tote while the rip is walnut. all the best~
Thanks for the interest. The ones I'm using in this video are Veritas, made right here in Ontario, Canada. I also use Ashley Iles, Robert Sorby, Lie Nielsen to name a few. All the best~
Its strange some of these techniques seem to be easier and ever faster (sometimes) as you do them by hand than I have seem on utube done with machines.
김상석 thanks for the interest- I think it's a 1949 - 1710 original. Really sweet brace-; ) You'll probably be able to find one as they were made and lasted a long time. hope that helps, all the best~
You are a pleasure to watch not just for your skill but for the really cool tools I didn't know existed. Thanks
Unplugged for sure, Awesome Work, Thanks ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🛠⛏

Are you using two saws for your cuts or a hybrid saw set from Bad Axe?
Donald,
thanks for the question.

I like the videos, but had to kill the sound after 3 minutes of that song repeating over and over and over….
