    I've got an Intimidator EV and love it. But I had to upgrade to Lithium batteries, and doors, winch, roof, mirrors, windshield, etc are all extra. All in, I'm close to $30K, and this machine looks like it is at least 90% of mine, for $13K retail. If I didn't have my Intimidator, I'd own one of these in a heartbeat. It should have a range selector, but beyond that, this looks sweet.

    If you compare to other electric RTVs, suddenly this thing is dirt cheap. 14K is rough, but I would love to have an electric as a second machine. What you think Joe? You gonna try to pick one of these up? Is the battery 48V? 11.52kWh for $14K is indeed a pretty decent battery bank on wheels alone, but would need access to that battery. I didn't see if you showed charging/where the battery is. I also can't seem to confirm what the voltage of the battery is by clicking around.

    The one thing I like about it is the noise level. It's about the same price as I paid for my utv seems like more of a work horse. I like it more than a golf cart I went back and forth golf cart utv the utv won. One plus would be maintenance. Beautiful views on top of the hill love Tn.

    I would definitely by one. I use a 36v golf cart on my little 6-acre homestead and it is super strong and helpful. Pulls a surprising amount weight. If I had to replace it today I would be looking at $7,000 easy. No AWD, disc brakes, no tablet display of all the vital metrics, no winch, no electric bed dump ...etc. $14,000 is reasonable and a value. However, no electric outlet !? Hmmm. Hope they listen to you on that.

    OK, it definitely seems like it’s heading in the right direction for an electric UTV. The trailering was actually impressive. They could easily beef up the suspension to make that work. I do think the doors should come with a way to completely close them off at the bottom. I like the idea of letting air in at times, but that’s not always what you’re gonna want. Give people a way to open and close them and I think it would be a great feature. And definitely add a couple of 110 plugs. Not having to load a power bank for a job site out on your property would be a fantastic feature!
    But…
    Maybe this shouldn’t bother me, but I could not buy it simply because it’s called Kandi, especially Kandi Cowboy. That’s the most unmanly name you could give a machine meant for men. I think most American guys would feel the same way. Even my wife thought it was really weird.
    I do like it though, and the company did a good job with its design.

    Great in stealth mode to sneak up on wild life. Electrics not going away, as more found on farms, ranches and on the range. In time, the quality, ausefulness and price of electrics will earn their place on the farm.

      I think electric UTV's are just going to be another option along side your normal fuel powered machines just like with golf carts and fork lifts. Electric fork lifts have been around forever and have been one of three options along side diesel and propane powered units. No one option is best for everything. Something like this electric Kandi would be good for use in constant short distance trips or areas where noise is an issue.

  • @Chris_at_Home
    @Chris_at_Home 2 месяца назад

    We run a trail to our remote cabin where many times we go through long puddles where water comes halfway up to the seats in the cab and the machine is lifted 5”. Electric would be nice but I’d need at least a 50 miles range through mud and water. Also how sealed are the batteries to prevent water from getting them?

    • @JoeTheFarmer
      @JoeTheFarmer  2 месяца назад +1

      I think you still need gas or diesel. Electric has come so far in the past 5 years or so…but I wouldn’t feel comfortable being stranded on hour trails!

    • @Chris_at_Home
      @Chris_at_Home 2 месяца назад

      @ I think for a small farm electric is great. We have a lot of brown and black bear that use the trail. I’ll bet with electric sneaking up on them would happen a lot, especially in the rain.

      You can't recharge LFP batteries below freezing unless they have built in heaters, this won't do that because it consumes a lot of power, too much for vehicle size.

    • @TomKacandes
      @TomKacandes Месяц назад

      You can DIScharge LFP batteries below freezing and when you do, they warm up somewhat. Many LFP batteries meant to reside outdoors have a dc warming mat on the side of the batteries to allow them to charge when outside temps are below freezing. There are normally thermistors (temp sensor) on the battery management system that shut off charging when it’s below freezing. If it is sitting plugged in with this nearly standard set up, the minor parasitic load from keeping the batteries warm is never an issue.

The problem with battery EV's is that a dozen years it will probably be dead and not practical to replace or rebuild. A gas powered SxS will still work in a decade. 48% of EV owners owe more on their vehicle than it's worth unfortunately.
