    SREC have a sunset. You cannot sell them for Life they're only available for a few years. It would be better if you included in your calculations the cost of acquisition and installation. That would tell the real net loss story. You didn't factor in the government tax credits either. Even so, a huge net loss story.

    Did I understand that correctly....your house uses about 20,000KWH in a year? Sounds like a lot (I'm using 11,000 in SE Virginia in a 2800SF home). We recently installed a 10.6K solar array on our roof and my area of interest has shifted a bit as I better understand our energy usage. The annual11,000KWH we used cost about $1500 total. But, looking at my Toyota 4Runner, which gets about 19MPG and I drive about 16K per year....I'm spending about $3400 on gas at $4/gallon. So the savings potential is much greater in offsetting energy usage for the car vs the house. And that's just one car. So, we have an EV on order that will soon replace my 14 year old Toyota and I'm looking forward to an earlier payoff as a result. By the way, I was totally unaware of the SREC credits until i got an email asking me to sign up shortly after the install this past April. Bonus!

The PG&E mafia has pushed a rate hike of 13 cents/KWH through, so our electricity will soon be the most expensive in the country. Given high interest rates, we can’t finance solar right now. • @FrugalRepair
      @FrugalRepair  9 месяцев назад

      Our true up is in May and it’s for the wholesale rate for each kWh. So not as good as the retail rate. The downside to oversizing your system is that the power company might take away your net metering agreement. They don’t want residential customers putting in solar just to become an electrical generator. If you are making a little extra kWh each year personally I don’t think that’s an issue but if it’s a lot then you might get scrutinized.
