  • Being alone and connecting inwardly is a skill nobody ever teaches us. That’s ironic because it’s more important than most of the ones they do.

"To make the right choices in life, you have to get in touch with your soul. To do this, you need to experience solitude, which most people are afraid of, because in the silence you hear the truth and know the solutions." - Deepak Chopra

The only time I've ever felt lonely is in a room full of people that I have nothing in common with.

I'm NEVER bored, but then again, I spend 95% of my time alone. Some days I don't even use my voice. Solitude is glorious!

Thank you for this video. Pascal is one of my favorite philosophers and his insights really resonate with me. I experienced firsthand what he meant when I completed my first 10-day silent meditation retreat. No talking. No reading. No music. No cell phones or electronics. No contact with friends or family or the outside world (unless for emergencies only) for 10 days, sitting in meditation, witnessing the breath and the bodily sensations 10 hours/day. This was one of the most profound experiences of my life.

If you've never had tears in your eyes or been upset after learning about yourself during self-awareness/self-discovery, then you have not yet learned the deeper depths of yourself.

It's a great reminder to me why my life seems more balanced when regularly practice meditation. It's the addiction to the 'lack of boredom' that makes me go go go. It's so easy to get lost in that cycle of always feeding the addiction of distraction. Mediation quiets the mind, allows you to know yourself, and to hear the truth of silence.

I totally agree! It may seem very counterproductive at first to the Ego, but sitting in solitude can teach us many lessons. I've learned along my journey that facing my own fears, being introspective, and focusing awareness on myself is what brings me massive growth. This skill is definitely useful for those who seek real personal development results.

I don't know, seems like good advice for extroverts. But as an introvert, being in solitude has been my default state my entire life.

I knew the value of solitude at 16. I know myself too damn well. I’ve got a lot accomplished during solitude. Solitude is pretty sweet. I also have happy relationships because I can be by myself and be happy.

This is what I'm trying to do. I've once heard that the best way to get work done is to be boring. Although I do enjoy my time going out and hanging out with friends, I have recently found time to shut myself in my room to get things done. This is a very important channel to me and I hope other people can learn from it too.
