This is a great explanation for a crucial but often misunderstood sequence. The best explanation I have been given is that expansion is the flattening of the force triangle. The second best image is to imagine you are between closing walls. You don't push them away, you wedge your arms and shoulders in a line.
Good instructions on expansion phase; it’s really a challenging task in fine tuning the shot cycle and my inconsistency in aiming is due to this phase.
@@RogueArcheryTV direction is one of the key aspects through release and expansion. Your comments on it having more of an impact to higher scores as opposed to aiming alone. I shoot trad 3 under with a fixed crawl, however a lot of what you explain (minus the OR gear) still helps.
Another great descriptive video thanks. For those of us coaching and shooting barebow expansion is even more difficult and it's subtlety hard to teach and execute. But it is so essential to good marksmanship. I often think of it as a molasses in winter flow that starts the release- you must avoid the jerk. Again thanks for the good explanation..even if you use the clicker crutch when you shoot🙂
Hello, I am looking for this exact point. I have recorded the 10 steps and am trying to progress progressively. I would say that I am missing information about my bow arm shoulder (the contraction force of the pectoral and dorsal muscles) and the exact anchor point. If I use the muscles along the spine to pass the clicker, have I gone too far or am I in the right process? I love these videos because they answer questions that of course we ask ourselves.
Hi, I shoot barebow, I have learned a lot from your videos. I actually came to the conclusion that the barebow and Olympic bow technique have more in common than different things. Why don't you make some videos or explanations about barebow too? It's an idea I wanted to suggest. Keep it up, you are very good! Tonino (from Italy)
@@antoninoimbesi2228 thanks you Tonino! I'm glad you have found the videos helpful, and indeed you are correct! There is much more in common with Olympic and barebow recurve with only a subtle difference. Even though I don't market it towards barebow, quite a few barebow archers have signed up for my online course and seem to apply it very well. The reason why I dont create barebow specific videos, is that I am not a barebow specialist, so can't speak with authority on the specific nuances. One day I do want to do a video on "What compounded can learn from revurve archers" and vice versa though. So this could be a fun topic.
Does the masterclass ever go on sale? Im very interested in joining but was wondering if gets discounted on black friday. Loving the content so far cant wait to see more
@@8bitsweg528 thanks! Glad you're enjoying the content. I don't discount my courses. I'm 100% confident that it offers excellent value, and I feel that discounting this kind of product attracts the wrong students. My course requires some work to be done by the student in order to get good results, and I want my students to be committed to the program! Hopefully this answers your question!

^ this!
For me, this is the best channel I've found so far. You explain things really well and I've already learned a lot from you.

Great work Jarryd, good explanation and laying out the steps.

Amazing video. Thank you.
Two years later and final understand expansion, thanks
@@barrybkopicz2845 don't worry mate, it took me 15 years to properly understand expansion...

Which techniques in particular are you looking for?
I wish you taught comp bows too

@@RogueArcheryTV Thank you for the quick reply. I understand completely
Wrong posture got me lol
I couldn’t reply to my comment so here’s my reply:
no clicker so expansion is kinda like a surprised. Trigger, thumb or back tension variations.
