Best thing ... dig a cat hole back upslope of the water, shoreline, and critter drinking and poo /peespot. Filter the cathole water with the filter - with water already filtered from the soil. Cut down massive clogging of gunk and gack from the filter from any water source (still or free flowing). If anything else, carry a small Tyvek fabric that can be put in front of the siphon nozzle - pulling out .1 - .4 microns first - allowing the filter to take care of the lesser "stuff." Tyvek can then be washed and put into sunlight UV to air dry and kill any bugs on the fabric.

Great demo. I couldn’t stop looking at the tree behind you that the beaver chewed through when you were drinking

Haha! Yeah that’s an active beaver pond all right. 🤣 I didn’t see any beavers that morning but I did see a muskrat and a couple of ducks.

I think I could buy three of these for the price of one LifeStraw.

Looks like a nice filter, thanks for sharing! I was thinking about trying something new, I'll give this one a try. I really like the versatility of it, looks easy to clean as well.

It is quite versatile. You can connect it to several things. I’m thinking of getting a water bag to do the gravity filter.

Oh wow!!! They’re not even trying to not look exactly like lifestraw. 😅
Hoping for the buy by colour.
Can’t argue with the price! ❤
    Like the features. 😮
Have you done a quality test to see how it really holds up? I’d be curious to see.
Claims are easily made after all.
Always a great video from you brother.
    Be well
    Craig

This filter comes in blaze orange and camo too. I recorded this Saturday morning and it’s Monday night and I still feel fine after drinking from that beaver and muskrat pond. As far as 5000 litres go, I’d have to drink over 13 litres every day for a year to reach the filter’s limit. That’s never going to happen 🤣
You can’t beat $13 bucks. I bought a LifeStraw for $30 bucks at BassPro about five years ago. I’ve no idea what they’re charging for them now.

I like it because it’s smaller than the LifeStraw, and at $12.99 it’s a lot less expensive too!

To be honest, they found me.
I’m thinking of doing a side-by-side comparison to the LifeStraw water filter.

Are there filters available, Jim? And if so, what's the cost?

    • @MuskratJim
      @MuskratJim  Год назад

A brand new personal filter straw is $12.99 and is good for 5000 litres (roughly 5000 quarts) you’d have to drink over 13 litres (13 quarts) of water every day for a year before you needed to replace the filter. That isn’t going to happen. I haven’t seen the replacement filters on their website.

I would recommend buying a LifeStraw brand. I believe they are available word-wide through Amazon.com.
