- One of the compositions that TM Krishna performed at his concert at Kala Mandir in Kolkata was "Jambu Pathe Mam Pahi" in Ragam Yamuna Kalyani, a supremely beautiful Muthuswamy Dikshitar kriti, pertaining to one of the five elements, in this case water.
Krishna was accompanied by Akkarai Subhalakshmi on violin, Arunprakash Krishnan on mridangam and Chandrasekara Sharma on ghatam. Tanpura support was provided by Krishna's student Vignesh Krishnamurthy and Ritwik Pal.
This concert was the finalé to Experimenter Gallery's 10th Anniversary celebrations and was curated and co-produced by First Edition Arts.
I am a fisherman and fishermen community I don't know what is your raagaa aalaap swaraas but I heard that very nice vocalsounds from you thank you
You speak decent English for a fisherman!
Music is universal. Anyone from any profession can appreciate the purity of sound and music. You must have a very pure and deep emotional foundation-- music will come to you. God bless you!
@@deviantvc I think you are being racist. A profession as a fisherman does not mean you can't speak English

I have always found such a stand out seperation in TMKs performance of krithis. He is really trying to explore the depths of the subliminal nature of the composition and its place within the raga through his own vulnerable and exploratory nature. Truly moved to tears in certain parts of this rendition.
This rendition brings out all the bhakti and emotions of the song that would make Dikshitar proud. TMK clearly has put all that he has got in every note, pushing himself to the limits emotionally and physically which moves and directly touches the audience. The "gap" was him collecting his energies, thoughts, emotions before unleashing it again musically. I was waiting in anticipation and bated breath, as did he co-artistes on stage who were also clearly moved as well. While the "gap" may be unorthodox, the comments on its inappropriateness is profoundly misplaced.
"Music is the ornamentation of silence." (-- Swami Chinmayanda)❤
Absolutely mesmerized. "Hrdaya tapopasamana", "Anirvachaniya nada bindo"- just can't get over these parts. Wow!
This rendition brings theflowing river to the mind's eye Can confidently say that this is a musical expression of the flowing Ganga or Cauvery in all their grace & serenity What a singer!
"Here before Shreyas K
" :) :)
I wish I could hit the like icon for each audio-visual moment of most of his concerts, especially those presented by FEAC. Yeoman service to music and music fans. Thankful, deeply so.
Thanks to the articulated music, the gaps of silence in between, the song's slow and majestic gait, the depth of rendition, the scant instrumental punctuations, and the singer's meditative reposes, I saw Lord Siva in all His yogic grandeur!🙏🙏🙏
To @FirstEditionArtsChannel ,
I request you to upload all renditions to spotify and other music platforms...

One and only, Arunprakash.
Enjoy the music for what it is. Not for sharing with some friends, for likes, not for measuring any rendition based on your knowledge. All these are nice if you have something to offer. Otherwise refrain from generslly grabing the mic because it is accessible. There are too many voices in this world that are not expressed, not all the expressed voices are meaningful. I think this is a terrific rendition by the team...
Thank you and congrats for your excellent concert keep it up I need more if you believe in God it may bless🙏
Makes u wonder ,can there be a better rendition....can feel the soothing waves of the Cauvery at the Jambupathe lingam...
Wow . Nijanthanthamritha bhodam dehi ....... Wonderful rendition in Yamuna kalyani
Blissful. Feeling like being in a different Devine world. TMK's rendering are invariably mellifluous. Million thanks to FEAC for the excellent quality presentation.🙏
Would be lovely to have a chat with TMK about this krithi and Yamuna Kalyani and the million intricacies in this rendition, including the original notations used[ likely]. That would be a treat which only his Shisyas and co-artistes have got! Maybe a LecDem if we are all lucky enough?
Here is an audio version of TMK teaching Jambupathe to his students. It is a 43 minute long video. You could possibly get some insights of TMK's interpretation of this krithi. ruclips.net/video/Ep8txGUT6qs/видео.html

Blissful. How many versions of the same raagam have you sung? Can't keep track.
Don't misunderstand, please. I want to hear all. That's the reason for asking.
I saw/heard " Sri Ramachandra Kripalu" and "Krishna nee begane" on RUclips. Same raagam.
This is amazing!
Absolutely beautuful🙏
❤
Wonderful service to music fans! But why is the background so pitch black?

Amazing recital.
I request you to post videos with the name of the song as heading and not the name of the ragam. It becomes really confusing as you've posted multiple songs of the same artist singing the same raga.
If you simply read the accompanying description, you will find all the information you need regarding the video.
Yes I see that but it makes it more difficult. Also the description is not always read.
@@FirstEditionArtsChannel That's a flippant remark to a valid point of feedback. Also Google or RUclips search does not prioritize descriptions as much as it does titles. Insulting instead of thanking the person for their feedback, demonstrates very poor attitude and utter lack of character.
Excellent music, but can you also upload a 1080p or even 720p version?
This video is a 1080p version.
@@FirstEditionArtsChannel Highest resolution version is 360p.
@@vishnuathreya8005 Frankly, I don't know how you're getting only a 360p resolution. Are you watching this video on some other RUclips channel? On the First Edition Arts channel the video's resolution is 1080p. Or could it be that you don't have enough broadband width/internet speed in your area? Try this link: ruclips.net/video/v1g16qHvc74/видео.html&lc=UgwsN2Id0D341FCRKPF4AaABAg.9IMYpD-zv--9IP2k7xj6gs
@@vishnuathreya8005 Could you post a link here of the video you are watching that has the 360p resolution?
It does show the ability to play at 1080p. Dunno if that is region specific or somehow determined by RUclips based on available bandwidth.
I agree that there is a failed experiment or two (maybe the almost-nerival and whatever tadarananana he does at anirvachaneeya nada bindo to disturb the flow of the kriti) in this rendition, and there is definitely a lapse of musical judgement. There is, however, nothing preposterous about him having giving it a go. The rest of the composition- it felt beautiful. The sensitivity of TMK's accompanying artists-- especially, Vid. Akkarai Shubhalakshmi and Vid. Arun Prakash-- makes this rendition touching.
Those comparing this rendition to those of Vid. DK Jayaraman and the other musicians who refer Vid. DKJ's notations must be mindful of differences the same composition can embody across baaNis. Here, in particular, we should be mindful of TMKs adherence to the SSP when it comes to Deekshitharu's kritis (which is probably as close to the original composition as it can get).
+1. Could not agree more with you. Wish however that they had edited away the part from 13:00 - 14:47, prioritizing the composition and performance over the performer.
A respectable opinion worded elegantly 🙏. I, for one, found this rendition to be resoundingly majestic and extremely memorable. The reason for this reply to you is about the point you make about 'Anirvachaniya Nada Bindo'. I think that part is one of the highlights of this performance and many other fellow viewers have appreciated it. It is quite beautiful in its own way. Krishna's personal and unorthodox touches are one of the things that make him a unique artist. It reminds me of Pandit Kumar Gandharva of the Hindustani tradition who was also known for similar experimentalism. I am not comparing them at all of course, please do not misunderstand 🙏. Finally about the 'almost neraval' comment, as per my observation, Ragam Yamuna Kalyani is almost always sung in such a manner. It is sung with mostly sangati based expansion. Very rarely you see a full fledged Neraval and Kalpanaswarams in this Ragam. It would have been a treat if Krishna had done that but it's fine enough. I think the best way to describe T. M. Krishna and his music is 'quite odd but hauntingly beautiful'.
@@YashRakeshGawade the build-up and the special effort taken to highlight the "anirvachaneeya naada bindo " line was indeed special. 🙏
Wow
Profound

In deference to the prayers of goddess Parvati, the Lord manifested in the form of the Linga representing the element water. He is the Lord of the universe, which is made of five elements. He is Shambhu, who is compassionate toward all beings. He manifests of his own accord in the forest inhabited by elephants. He is the nectar-like ocean of mercy, and is the succour to those who take refuge in Him. He is the indescribable Nadabindu. He always holds the Ganga and the moon on His head. He is the Kalpaka tree, and is engaged in the desireless Samadhi, supreme consciousness. He is the father of the pure, faultless knowledge in the form of Guruguha.

Dare I say? I fully share the awe, the grandeur, the majesty of the composition that TMK attempts to convey here, but not his expression or articulation, I am sorry. It borders on insolent indulgence.

@Shreyas K yes💥✊😂
I found Sikkil Gurucharan's rendition more connecting. TMK may be technically superior or something but his renditions are difficult to keep our focus and devotion with especially for novices in technicalities of carnatic music contradicting his own idea of taking carnatic music to the masses.
When I share this with my friends, it elicits the usual reply of this being boring and lengthy. They may be wrong but we gotta respect FoE 🙃.
Many see beauty in the way he renders the raga but for someone who's not deep into technicalities this definitely should seem boring.
@Shreyas K Agreed! IMHO, his best rendition of this composition was in the film 'One'. It was a visual treat as well.
@@sreekrishnasaikolipaka7020 I understand what you mean. But, my personal opinion is that, when his slow moving phrases and the beautiful improvisations meanders through the alapana, thanam and pallavis, the real essence of the raga truly shines through. His music elicits emotions in me and that is art to me.
I don't think one is 'technically superior' over the other. Each artist makes an aesthetic choice on how they sing, few sing it slowly, many sing in madhyamakala. It's completely fine if you like one over the other.
Also if you listen to what TMK says about art 'reaching the masses', he says it's only the duty of the artist to take his/her music to the masses, the masses may completely reject the music and that is okay as well.
@@sreekrishnasaikolipaka7020 I think the beauty of TMK's music is that without going into ANY technicality, without knowing anything about any raaga, his music is mesmerizing. You don't have to share with your friends if you don't appreciate it. I feel sorry for your friends. His idea was not to take music to the masses, per se, I would say, but to break a monopoly that exists in this field, and expose it to the masses. Whether or not they like it should NOT be any artist's concern. To his eternal credit, TMK went beyond that concern and we listeners have benefited immensely. I agree with Shreyas K, though I lack his expert knowledge. Once TMK has transformed a composition, difficult for others to match it, to my ears and emotions.
Mr.TM Krishna can explore the Raga to his heart's content but certainly this style of concert does not evoke devotion in the listener as it is originally meant to.These compositions are divinely inspired. Accomplished carnatic singers like Krishna must remember to pay homage to the composer which is very sadly missing in his style of concerts.
Though there is a miniscule of truth in ur statement, ur very far from truth. Tmk's rendition of jambupathe is most authentic with respevvt to sangeetha sampradaya pradarshini. Each minute gamaka included. He has preserved music better than the entire community of musicians. He goes overboard in some places. Thats true maybe
