    I used to be plagued by noise, almost s7 on SSB, but what saved the hobby for me was a separate horizontally polarized receive magnetic loop. It took my noise floor down to s0 and brought all the signals out from the noise. Great video Fred as always! 73s from 2ED503

    Hello Fred. I went onto the zello channel and I got ptt fright. It's because I haven't been on air for quite a few years 😃. Great video 👍😊🍻

      @CB-RADIO-UK  3 года назад

      Hi. I did briefly see some of your comment on Zello. Sorry you had a bad experience. Its been fine when i go on (you need to be quick to get in though) but i dont go on in the eve when its very busy and active. It is moderated so anyone being abusive or stupid will be muted. If you wanted to try it again maybe go on mid morning when its quite. There is some good advice given.

    Good morning Fred great videos with good info, reference the noise issue that Alberts got if he has got router or WiFi or any neighbours have it will giveb off a lotb of noise on all bands. The cheaper the WiFi router the more noise it will emitt, he should check his neighbours...
    Cheers fred...

    Hi Fred, just a side note for you. It's always worth fitting a ferite ring on your power cables to help stop interference coming into your rig and any RF possibly going the other way. You can also try a power conditioner on your power supply and a cheap fix is to fit a 0.1yf capacitor across the power cables to the rig.It's
    That might help somebody..

    I keep an eye out on 27Mhz on my IC7300 - totally like what you say Fred, get on there around commuting time, lots of very funny banter and a bit of a chuckle ! The best thing is just to keep on trying at your own regular time, like 8:00 - 8:45 and 17:30 - 18:30, just to keep trying ! If you have a blog/social media, let people know when your active. Regarding QRM - if you know the source of the QRM/Noise that you cant remove (street lights), phasing (changing the shape of the RF field) will help, getting a wire and QRM eliminator will null out and reduce it for sure !

    • @CB-RADIO-UK
      @CB-RADIO-UK  3 года назад +1

      Good point on calling out at regular times. People tend to be habit forming on the times they go on air.

    If you've got a bit of wire, a couple of zenner diodes and a multimeter or an analogue guage you can make a field strength meter to track down the source of noise.

      The PLT noise is still there but mostly effects my CB and CRT 10m radios. My HF radios help to filter it. Sadly you will hear it again once i start using the shed shack again.

    Not around here. Theres no nets. Everyone is on UK40
    Its like the old days... except it goes quiet around 5pm
    19 is the calling channel. if its quiet people have a talk on the 19. when its busy we go to a channel, just like the old days.
    Really like the old days.... Lots of the old guys n galls are back on.
    I didnt buy a 6900... I bought a CRT Millennium clone. Im mainly mobile.
    At home. I rarely turn the rig on. I still have my 40 year old homebuilt antenna up, at the very worse I get s3 noise, generally its s1, but about 1 mile from home there is a 300m cube and its 30+ of dead carrier. Its there and once out side the area its gone. (weird) Glad I dont live there :-)
