If you plan to use light modifiers like a softbox I would 100% get the bare bulb attachment. The speedlight head def works best for your style of direct, harsh spot lighting.
100% spot on with that. To get the most lighting out of the head, the bare bulb head would be best (and quality of light too). I forgot to mention that since that’s not typically our style but you’re correct with that. Thank you for watching Alex 🙌
Boom! Love it! Your lighting is gonna be so much more varied by having two and setting them up than one big powerful source if you're not utilizing that much power on a regular basis. And worst case; double up. Glad I could help!
I actually have 2 ad600pro and 1 ad400pro mostly shooting athletes and many other stuff. I am willing to buy 2 of ad200pros to the arsenal as sometimes I need 5 lights for better effects
That is one heck of a lighting kit haha. And yeah it’s just nice to have those smaller flashes for fill or to highlight certain areas. Thank you for watching Michonn 🙌🙏
Thank you for watching Biswajit 🙏 we actually posted a few off-camera flash tutorial videos recently if you want to scroll through our channel. I haven’t done any Post Production ones but that’s a great idea. 🙏🙏 stay tuned, I’ll be posting a lot more in the coming weeks and months
Like you review, straight to the point, no nonsense. Thank you for your recommendation, came across a thanksgiving deal and got two Ad200’s 35 is not old.. lol..
Thank you very much Abhijit. Truly appreciate you taking the time to watch. Thats awesome! Where did you find the deals? Perhaps we can share them with our team and everyone here. And thank you lol, I still feel young so that helps
You can use the AD400 on a lightstand without a problem as if you put i on a monopod, then you or someone has to hold the light, and if you shoot by yourself, this can be a problem. A simple, although not cheapest solution is to get the extension head for about $75, and some weights for your tripod. That way, if it does fall, the worst you'll have is a broken bulb and a broket bracket, but the AD400pro itself should be fine if you place it near the ground.
Thank you for this. I was struggling to decide. Just getting back into photography this helps a lot because I want to do the evening shots. So knowing that the ad200 will hold up.
Oh absolutely Kevin. Even small flashes would work in the evening. Sometimes the AD200 is still too powerful at night when you go higher ISO. But all in all, it’s still the winner. 🙏🙏 stay tuned, I’ll be posting a lot more in the coming weeks and months
Thanks Bro! I 100% AGREE WITH EVERYTHING YOU JUST SAID!! Just received my AD200 today and I love it...this little beast is so compact and versatile....I try to keep my equipment/gear as light as possible. And investing in AD200s is the best decision ill never regret. I'd boldly say to anyone starting don't buy the AD400 or even AD600, until you start making reasonable profits and your style of shooting demands it, invest first in AD200. Personally having two AD200s coupled with Godox AD-B2 gives you perfect versatility and room for creativity. And AD200-PRO is a waste of money...there isn't much difference from the AD200. And I know I'm reiterating what you just said LOOL!
That’s awesome that it resonated with you so much Troy! Thank you so much for watching! I’m sorry I didn’t get back to you sooner, I haven’t been giving this channel the kind of attention that it deserves, but I am back on it and I’ve been posting consistently again. Stay tuned and let me know if there’s anything that you want to watch, always happy to share with someone as enthusiastic as you! 🙌🙌
Yeah, we usually use modifiers when it’s a lot closer to the subject and we’re going with a tighter crop. With a wider crop where the subject is much smaller in the frame, we don’t stress out as much on the softness of light. Try that out and see how you like it. Thank you for watching 🙌
Thank you for watching Rahul! As far as I know it should work because the v1 is newer than the flashes I use (tt600 and tt685) and they all work in receiver mode. You just have to set your 400 and your v1 to receiver on the same channel and the Xpro trigger will send to both. Usually I put group A for my stronger flash and group b for my weaker flash since its the secondary one. I hope that helps!
Elmer!! Good to see you my man!! Glad to hear you’re staying safe and healthy!! I’m still totally utilizing the Smooth Q I bought off of you. Hey, I’m still here in Irvine if you should happen to need anyone for 2nd/B shooter or editing for your channel. K. 😉
Thanks Man! I watched your video and actually getting the ad200 pro with just a couple things in the kit. I am also buying the protective sleeve and the LED light! U ROC!
Thank you for watching Kenneth! Honestly, I haven't but that's because I have the AD400. So putting two 200s together with the AD-B2 is almost the same size which at that point, I may as well take my 400 out. Since most of our shoots are in the afternoon if they're not a wedding, we typically don't need THAT much power, so it's rare that we take the 400 on those shoots (unless we're at the sand dunes or some crazy location like that). I know one of our shooters uses the AD-B2 so I'm sure there's a market for it. If I didn't have the 400 I would consider it for sure
Excellent info primo, you get right to the important info, like not needing the extra flash bulb, the led modeling light and the protective casing. I knew the AD200 is the smarter more practical choice, but its my first strobe purchase and I am anxious about buying the cheaper option and would have bought the bigger and more expensive strobe for piece of mind, only to eventually buy the practical one I should have got later anyway. You saved me some money. Also, what wrist watch is that you have on? Its beautiful, I love bauhaus and yours looks so clean and German. Is it a Junkers brand?
Thank you for watching! I'm glad I was able to save you a few bucks and share some of my insight. You're gonna love it! And thank you...It's just a simple Daniel Wellington watch my fiance' gave me. I like things simple apparently lol
Thank you so much for watching my friend. I completely sympathize with working with a budget. I was born in El Salvador so I understand coming from nothing 🙏 I would recommend checking out smaller speed lights like the TT 600 from Godox. It uses the same receiver as the AD200 and it’s fairly powerful. Or if you can spend a little more you can opt for the tt685 which allows it to be a transmitter and receiver in case you have other godox flashes. The tt600 and transmitter is a good start and more economical option. I hope that helps
Thank you Priyanka! For prewedding/engagement honestly the AD200 I would say is "better" just because of portability. The only times Ive really needed the 400 or was happy I had it is if I wanted to do high speed sync or something like that but youd still be able to get away with the 200, just waiting a little longer between pops
Hey Arifin, thank you for watching. I would say they're both very very similar units in size. The small size difference is pretty insignificant. I would say the one that's in your budget is the one I would go with. I've owned both units and I really don't feel like I'm missing any power on the 400 over the 600. I hope that helps
Hey Joel, that’s a tremendous question! When traveling I actually use a shoot through umbrella. Just for convenience purposes, the umbrella is easier to carry and set up
Oh man I would love to but at the moment we only have the 200s and 400. I can tell you one con that I would see with the 300 however is not being able to use the modifiers we use. We use a lot of MagMod products on the AD200 and on our flashes which the 300 I don't think would work with with the round shape. If I end up or one of our team members gets one, Ill be sure to review it
Hey man thanks for that. I was thinking between AD300 400 and 600 pros. Seems 400 pro and even 300 pro should do the trick for fashion and wedding photography outdoor and indoor?
Thank you for watching Sheldon! I think so: I think you definitely took away what I was trying to get across. For weddings and non-modifier shoots the 200 is plenty. If you're gonna be adding large softboxes and the like (which kill light output but give better light) then a larger flash would be better. If you're gonna be using softboxes and large umbrellas I would maybe look on the used market for the 400...you may be able to pick it up for a nice discount. Hope that helped!

Thank you Rohan! It was this one: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00O469EGM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Great Monopod. I would probably recommend the twist lock instead, however, and you will need that little gold extender piece for the AD400/600 to lock on. The one that comes with it is too short
Thank you Albert! I'll try to post more; Im trying to simplify my set up and editing to get more content out. You know, that's a GREAT question. I'll probably TRY one but not until I destroy my TT685's. The 685's act as transmitters and receivers so at the moment I don't see the need to upgrade my on-cameras. Do you think the AD200 could work for a newborn studio photos too? I want buy something that works for my photo studies as well once I started like professional
Hey Abeba! Sorry for the late response. Feel free to DM us on IG, Im usually better at responding there. I think the 200 should be plenty powerful. Just have an extra battery in case you need it. I will say however, since you'd be indoors and with newborns you'll probably not be blasting flash at high power so you'll probably be ok with just one. I would say the 200 is better overall for portability purposes and the power is def. plenty for indoors
@@TNKPhoto Thank you for respond Elmer. I bought the AD200 and although unfortunately my photo session was canceled at the last minute. I am waiting impatiently for the moment to use my new light. Thank you for your videos

I am old, I am 35 😂! You're not old until you've reached 50 buddy 😁. Nice review though! I just ordered the AD200 but unfortunately it's backordered. BTW, the sleeve link you gave above no longer carries it. If you have an updated link, please provide. Thanks!
Haha thank you! I appreciate you taking the time to watch. And I’m gonna start telling all these 20something year olds that too lol And back ordered, wow that’s surprising. They usually have a good amount. Regardless you’ll love it when it arrives. And thank you for pointing out the out of stock sleeve. I found one here for you: www.adorama.com/fplfevpsk1b.html
Thank you 🙏 It was actually the first real purchase I made all with photography money back in 2009. I don't think I'll ever sell it because of that. It showed me that I could do what I loved for a living and have nice things. I was 24 at the time and I was able to save up enough to pay cash for it (it's a 2001)
We’re there 😆 I’m 39 now since it’s been a few years since this was filmed. Still feeling fresh though 😁 I posted a new video on keeping fit as a photographer
haha I love that little thing. It was the first thing I purchased with "photography money" so it holds a special place in my heart. It's also Nardo Grey now :D My girl got it wrapped for me for my birthday
It's such a great deal. Honestly I remember the days of using pocket wizards. One on camera, one on the flash and you were at $300 already just on that....then having to get a cheap flash which would constantly misfire cause of the PC wires...oh things are so good lol
You know what Sergiy, I did break one of my AD200s so I'm not against trying something else. I would try the AD300, however, the 100 doesn't do anything for me. I find the power to be too close to a speedlight for 3X the price. At which point the 200 makes more sense (size wise too) if you're going for it for recycling speeds

Very happy we could help Mitch. Enjoy the new toy!
Great video. I was on the verge of buying the 400 but since I already own the 200 and am a magmod aficionado, getting another 200 is a no-brainer! :)

Thanks Timothy! Those things are hot fire. We've gone through a bunch of units and always come back to the 200s. Thank you for watching my dude
That s2000 👀
haha I love that little thing. It was the first thing I purchased with "photography money" so it holds a special place in my heart. It's also Nardo Grey now :D My girl got it wrapped for me for my birthday
It’s worth $300 now lol
It's such a great deal. Honestly I remember the days of using pocket wizards. One on camera, one on the flash and you were at $300 already just on that....then having to get a cheap flash which would constantly misfire cause of the PC wires...oh things are so good lol
Get AD300pro ;o) and AD100
You know what Sergiy, I did break one of my AD200s so I'm not against trying something else. I would try the AD300, however, the 100 doesn't do anything for me. I find the power to be too close to a speedlight for 3X the price. At which point the 200 makes more sense (size wise too) if you're going for it for recycling speeds

Thank you for watching!
not these two! AD300Pro!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You seem very enthused. Care to elaborate?
