Hey Kirby, I'm very very pleased to announce that today my dad and I are going to get fitted for our first Bespoke garments! Meeting Joe himself with My Tailor at the Hilton in Concord CA. I want to take a moment to say thank you for this channel and all the products on your website. They have single handedly changed my entire quality of wardrobe and I always feel incredible when I put on my suits and shoes!! Today is special too because I get to share this bespoke dress shirt experience with my dad which i was inspired to invite him along and join in from your channel. Again thank you for opening up this world to me, cheers!
@@MauricXe i had a shirt made. It was a great experience. Looking back i wish I would have picked some more premium fabric but even still the shirt fits great. Joe was awesome to work with. I intend to have a suit made at some point as well.
Thankyou Kirby, I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see this finished shirt. I have not seen collars like that for many many years, since I lived and worked in London in the 70`s and 80`s. So nice to see the younger generation carry forward and indeed enhance true Gentlemens style and panach. I am even more enthralled to see that it is an Englishman who you are spotlighting here, brilliant. Thankyou.
I can quite grantee there is no other video on the internet describing an amazing button down shirts, spot on Kirby looking forward to seeing you rocking some casual outfits pal.
I keep forgetting, your a Texas resident like me. I'd love to see a video specifically for how to dress well but keep cool in our 100-110 degree weather.
It is impossible! At 110°F and 90+% humidity--- impossible. I love linen but you look like a shalumpadinka by midday. Both shirt and pants in linen, woven vamp shoes, it's still hot as hell out there. Just sipping iced tea makes one break out in a sweat! No thanks! Prefer the non-humid climes, only!
Also, while it can be a signal of quality, it's risky to focus too much on the stitch density. I had a long chat with Wil about this last year. When the stitches are too dense, the fabric can be weakened too much. After all, stitches are formed of little holes in the fabric of the shirt. How much density can safely be achieved depends greatly on the type of fabric the shirt is made of.
If you keep going with Wil, I recommend trying out his lido collar. More casual yet than the button down, but the perfect shirt for the beach or poolside!
The cuff finishing with the ruffles is a work of Art! Reminds me of the English late 18th Century early 19th century styles that the likes of my ancestor the poet Robert Browning would have worn. Likewise the collar The shirt fits you perfectly, it has enough room for a casual shirt but not so much to make it shapeless and that blue! It’s gorgeous Kirby. This in the fall would look stunning with a cognac coloured corduroy jacket and those stunning shoes and to make it even more casual a really well made dark rinse pair of jeans
Hello Kirby. I discovered your channel, not a long ago. I subscribed it. I watch your almost all videos. I appreciate that you have been trying your best to help men dress better and better. In my opinion, if you like to achieve your goal to the highest level, you must include the prices and costs of the items, you show in your videos. I also appreciate that the prices and costs can be not very important for some men, but In my opinion, it is extremely important for all the wise men. Thank you.
A lovely shirt but to see you in a relatively casual outfit was a shock to the system. This is a man who shaves in a shirt and tie. I'm sure you were born wearing a smart suit and a shirt and tie.
Is the buttonhole 2 thread corded or no cording? I like the snipped band of the collar wonderful shaping. What kind of cuff "placket" did the shirt have? I think I would have put a reverse hidden third button in the placket area to prevent gapping. I could not tell if there was one or not. Please show us the placket.
I enjoyed your casual look. The collar seems very high. I would love the opportunity to try it on myself. For the moment, MyTailor is my bespoke maker of choice. I was intrigued by your video with Joe an the "cooper collar". Cheers all the round!
As a person who’s worn linen (not from wil but that doesn’t matter) you’ll still be hot. It’s no miracle worker and you’ll be cold. But they’re no hotter than t shirts I find. Nothing noticeable. Also if you haven’t. Go buy fresco trousers. Cooler than a thick pair of shorts.
Kirby, your pressing skills need honing. Get yourself one of those irons with a separate water container and high pressure steam delivery, so you get rid of those linen creases.
Mr. Allison, what are your thoughts on shirt stays? I wear them at work for a cleaner appearance but when I'm off, my shirt becomes untucked at every turn.
A few creases in the ironed shirt visible! I personally do not like the shirt with the button down no top button look also not impressed with material gathered into cuff.
The arm cut is really nice. I bought a Gucci shirt black in color. It's slim and superb fit but the the only problem was with the arm area that didn't have a room and my shirt torn in 6 months. I went to Oxford street Selfridges Gucci and they said to goto Gucci store. I went to the Gucci store and they say call customer care. It's so time consuming the I got it fixed myself and again the shirt torn.. Gucci really 👌. I had a work on it and only wear on some occasions. I would say Dolce Gabbana Slim /Gold fit has been nicer and lasted till date. The Gucci canvas belt also has some faults. The Gucci leather sneakers are good and lasted 3-4 years ( I wear them 10-15 times in a year).
the collar looks fantastic, with that beautiful roll. but i do not think the shirt fits all that great. there is a lot of room in the body of the shirt. i don't mean to say that you should wear skinny-fitting clothes but i am sure the shirt can be much slimmer, especially around the waist area!
It came as a surprise that you decided to go with a fused button down collar, as the classic button down collar is actually supposed to be unfused and unlined for that casual wrinkled asymmetric look that's missing on the majority of ready to wear button downs with fused lined collars. But to each his own.
Some contradicting info here. In your mytailor video you go into how you don't like or need darts for your shirts and now here talk about how you need and like darts.
He said he pressed it. It's a brand new shirt made with a quite crisp linen fabric. Creasing is unavoidable. It may soften over time with washings but probably not enough to lose that quality.
Linen with buttondown......? How American....how unsophisticated...? Incredibly cheap packaging...got a comparable shirt with better packaging from Amazon for less than $30. Poseur.....
He did, but he mentioned going home to change and remember it is a linen shirt. A trademark is a nice and refined wrinkle with wear and movement. If you don't like that, you have to avoid linen.
Got news for you buddy.... made in UK became a dirty phrase in The 1970s....right about when made in Japan began to take off.....Get out of the colonial hangover..... That shirt does not look any better than my proper shirts.....
@@abajaj1510 Never ever heard of them. You cannot beat english tailoring, finest in the world. And why do you say made in Britain was a dirty word in the 70`s??? Mr. Allison is a very smart Gent indeed and his hangers are equal to his good taste. Have you ever bought some proper hangers or are you still using re-cycled ones from your local Laundrymat???
You pressed that shirt Kirby? With a cold brick?

The collar is a masterful design on an otherwise stunning shirt!
Excellent video, Mr. Allison. You were like a kid on Christmas morning...and deservedly so, that's a gorgeous shirt.
Dodya / Додя Yes. I had high expectations. And this exceeded even those!
Stellar shirt. I completely agree with the collar it really makes the shirt

Wow. The collar and the shoulder area looks great. One of the cleanest fit i have ever seen.

The ruffles at the end of the sleeves give me an almost historical vibe.
Great unboxing!! The collar is my favorite part of the shirt.
Wil is a legend. Very much looking forward to my shirts from him.
Graham Morgan Yeah. He is indeed very, very talented and has a phenomenal product. I’ll be ordering more.

Nice shirt Kirby, after a few washes it will soften and feel so comfortable.

beautiful shirt Kirby, love the collar soft roll make it sit nicely on you.

Shirt looks nicely made , although the press job wasn't very good .

Looks good. Nice brown jacket too
Those cuffs are so beautiful
Amazing cuffs
If it's a casual shirt, is there a reason you didn't go with a cooper collar?
Justin Marsh I that Wil does an incredibly beautiful button down with a very elegant roll... wanted to try something different.
is that a one-piece collar? haven't seen that with a button-down before. looks good
Kirdy what’s the weight of that’s jacket and composition ?
It looks superb! Love your videos thank you Kirby.
Please can I ask, do you have a wallet maker you could recommend?
Would you please explain the differernce betwen a "made to measure" garment and a "bespoke" garment? Thank you
The shirtmaker certainly was very pleased that you didn't even iron the shirt before presenting it.
One shirt cost $1000 or a bundle of them?
What was the start to finish /delivery time?
Would these shirts work in Miami?. Miami humidity and heat make you sweat through everything.

Dracula 🧛♂️ collar. The no top button is extremely weird.
Amazing shirt but would encourage more attention to detail on the packaging to mirror the experience of the shirt making
Nice french front
Mr. Allison, what are your thoughts on shirt stays? I wear them at work for a cleaner appearance but when I'm off, my shirt becomes untucked at every turn.
Walter Nishida I very rarely untuck my shirts, even when dressing casually.
The color must be little darker, like medium blue🔵
Is the collar gap ok?
For bespoke shirt one would expect a better packaging.
Nice‼️

Look at the condition of that packaging.. Jesus
you could wear it inside out, and it would still look proper

Why do you always wear solid shirts
President Trump has that kind of collar shirt. Very nice!
Uniformed professionals in japan always only wear flex-linen shirts unless its winter. Theirs look ugly as hell though
