most people probably aren't aware, but goatman also gets +20% (i believe additively? unsure) resistance to *all damage types* while drunk. i think the baseline 40% magic vulnerability is a more significant drawback than you implied, given that you will be glued to magic resist items once you have them, but it's only a big deal if you're clumsy in the early game, or if you really like scaling up the magic gloves that aren't djinni's bracers. this weakness is most significant for gnomish mines, you have basically zero room for error against lightning gnomes. when drinking/tapping a fountain, goatmen will also sometimes get a few free potions, which you probably just forgot to mention, but it makes early game alchemy more achievable, and you can get powerful potions as drops, so i think it's worthy of note.
I think you underrated Incubus and Succubus, I've found making cursed items a buff instead of nerf incredibly useful, for example Shelob drops a +5 armor ring of invisibility, as well as early items, which are often cursed, become far stronger, and the blessed stuff is pretty easy to work around if you remember it.
Yeah. And the upper limit if enchantment is higher, because you can turn all your scrolls curses with water, and then use spare water from ghouls in the fortress to further increase weapon stats. Or if you’re lucky enough to find a cursed alembic. This outlays the loss of one enchantment some artifices have.
I think Succubus/Incubus are at least A tier. In hardcore mode these races have a much stronger start compared to others as cursed items are plentiful. With cursed armor especially you can reach the higher threshold required for training your block without damage. Cursed weapons help you kill the higher HP enemies. Also I just learned in Hamlet the Jester will curse your weapon by -3 or -4 which is huge for this race late game.

Ability to wear cursed gear as blessed items is a huge boon even in singleplayer early game as skeletons tend to drop cursed gear. Sure not being able to peel off artifact weapons in the mid-late gameis an annoyance, but by the time you get enough enchantment scrolls (usually in hamlet), you wouldn't want to take off your main weapon in most instances anyway (usually already have dig, why would you need to throw potions unless ur alchemist). and if you really need to peel off the weapon, just polymorph away and turn back
Tier list is of course biased by personal skill and playstyle so to your points: - Damage by gnomes is, at some point, easily avoided altogether so I don't think it matters that much. I don't even think the 20 % innate magic res matters that much against the bosses as long as you get some magic res items. - I don't think you're ever really dependent on having to use unappraised items. Even with bad starting perception, if you play it properly, you can get the appraisal grind going in the mines. - Not being able to switch off the blessed weapon may be fine if you're overpowered. If not, you lose out on using bear traps, pickaxes (way faster than dig - think escaping) and some other utility. Not ideal.

If we use your logic you can easily avoid damage/deal with almost every mob in barony, especially when u get more tools to do so in the later levels. One of the best players, Lyciant, most frequently has his runs end in gnomish mines because there is very little room for error in there. Although the chance of making a mistake is so low for a player of his caliber in gnomes, its pretty much gg from just one; whereas in the higher levels the chance of mistake might be higher, but it’s more of an inconvenience (losing a few healing potions/resurrects) rather than instant death from double zaps
Early game, being forced to expend a significant amount of mana so you can unequip your weapon or a piece of armor whilst also having everything cursed you had equipped become an absolute liability until you wait, happen to have water, or have revert form,- Is NOT "free" or "at a whim." It's a good tool on their belt for Succubus, but saying that the downside is negated as Succubus is highly inaccurate. Now, once you get the ball rolling, you can reasonably collect water, and your mana pool is big enough to not take too big of a hit, ect. You STILL are being *slightly* inconvenienced by playing Succubus over human, even if that inconvenience is small, it matters quite a lot for a tierlist like this.
big note about incubus is that killing shopkeeps with ranged weapons and spells takes forever, but they have an early game spell that makes both deal normal damage, making them the best serial killer out of all the races
another point about vampire is that levitation is absolutely broken for grinding both spellcasting and magic seeing as how you can spam it to get both and reach 100 spellcasting before you even set foot into the dungeon
Because of how automatons hunger works they constantly replenish mana faster than other races, in a way becoming able to use gems like a mana potions, making them much better wizards capable of spamming all spells they want
White race was hard nerfed every last patches lately, they developped "ethnomasochism" racial trait to replace the "ethnocentrism" old one, debuffed intellect with "leftist ideologies" and they buffed asian intellect significantly, with "will to work hard" racial trait, so : S tier : Asians, perfectly adaptable to almost any environment, don't take shit from any other race in their countries unlike whites, highest IQ score and economy that's getting better than white economy. A tier : Hispanics from America, "rampant crime" racial trait is keeping their powerlevel in check because otherwise they could be S tier since their economy is growing quite strong. B tier : Arabs, they can steal and attack people in white countries freely thanks to the "leftist ideologies" nerfs on white race. They are also on par with current white race intellect and smarter than the other races in the lower tiers, more cunning. So they can parasite and take advantage of other races, except asians who they are still trying to figure out how to best. Will probably get A tier in the future if they win by demography in Europe, since their fertility stat is very high. C tier : Black race, their race and victim card works perfectly on the white race that's getting dumber and dumber with newer generations plagued by "leftist ideologies" debuffs, but they are still exploited by arabs in muslim countries the most and still sometimes in white countries by greedy corporates who take advantage of "leftist ideologies" to justify having them as unofficial slaves. Their fertility is on par if not better than arab race, so they are unkillable though. 2nd C tier is White race. With repeated and serious debuffs to intellect, economy and fertility, they are on the road to get to D tier. Some of the richest players are still white, and a few resisting communities are trying to salvage it from its rapid decline thanks to their old S tier ranking that lasted many patches in the past, but they are on their way to extinction in the west. War on eastern Europe does not look good for the future of this race either. Will probably disappear almost completely in 60 years if things keep going the way they do in Europe. D tier : Variants of the big families of races like Pygmees, who are the most isolated and primitive ones. Are at the complete mercy of any of the other groups, usually have almost no intellect, economy or fertility, and no written history. Only recommended for hardcore players seeking a true challenge. Aren't automatons also heated by swimming in lava? So you can train your magic freely without burning or starving by swimming in it and casting heal spells
Succubus is very underrated, since the polymorph spell essentially removes all of their downsides for a modest mana cost. When you factor that in, they're essentially a human with magic resistance and curse immunity. Very strong, probably high A or low S if I had to place them.
yo please do a class tierlist, would love to have your insight on them.. or maybe a series of videos explaining what to know when playing each class. the only ones i saw were really not that good.
It's a pain to manage followers, but humans can farm leadership early enough to make more use of the 100 skill bonus. Not nearly enough to move them higher, but it's an extra gimmick they can do early on with more classes than the rest, before spell spamming lets most species just use dominate. Babying them all the time against boulders, magic spamming traps etc isn't fun times, but at high leadership a group of humans/insects/etc who have gone through level grinding + holding bows can rack up a lot of damage quickly.
Let's be real, human is S tier above everyone else, you have no restrictions and can use any class or playstyle you want. You will never regret going for humans, compared to anyone else.
Definitely agree human is really good. with no issues gives a lot of unique solutions to problems. Only thing is outside of legendary npcs I find that most human helpers are way less effective than goblin helpers or insectiods.

How tf do you talk about the Automaton and not discuss the amount of things you can build with them? Automaton is S tier if you make use of the full kit. Being able to repair gear is another huge plus. The dummy bot carried me through end game, as I could throw one out in front of creatures like a Cockatrice and backstab it to deletion before the dummy bot gets destroyed. Turrets are major early game, I carry 3 at all times and never even use the cross bow because they shred enemies way faster. Justice for Automatons!!

I disagree with goblin, I have a harder time with the Gnomes then I do with the swamp. Goblin is only good for the forest section of the game which is 5 out of the 35 levels, but the 30% reduction in weapon skill is terrible and it also by the wording I think it applies the debuff to ranged without the versatility buff to said ranged this means the only good classes you could play as a Goblin without having the effects nip you in the butt is physical classes. For Magic you cant learn books, For ranged the effects go against you so its only A tier imo if you just play a Fighter/Barbarian due to the reduced equipment degrade which said classes are hurt most by but if your any other race and stick to Polearms/Axes for instance your gonna get to 100 faster then the goblin sure you have versatility but you can just get a good weapon of the kind your using and be fine for the rest of the game. But if your doing Ranged or Magic automatic D making it a B for average between the two just because your kind of funneled into a Martial class unlike other races. And insectoid is B on average because the ability to eat any food means there is no food that will go to waste. If your doing a ranged/Melee its a A tier because the ability to navigate with flutter helps in those situations where loot is across a chasm you cant reach and you don't have levitate yet and the acid while not good is a nice ranged start option if your low on HP. Yes the conjurer dilemma is bad but a Insectoid Wizard/Healer can work unlike a Goblin Wizard because they cant learn the spells making them a D at spell casting cause you HAVE to rely on books which take up inventory and have limited uses.
Nothing huge, it will basically: - Restructure the game and make it longer (no branching paths) - Rebalance, redesign and add challenge - Add some content (new artifact, new bonus level) It's meant to be a really challenging hardcore+ mod but I will probably also offer an easier version for people who aren't looking for pain.

succubus has polimorf, so can recruit humans, go into shops and take off blessed gear basically whenever you want. at least A tier.

Purely looking at melee builds, most races are pretty similar in power level! I don't think it matters too much what race you play with warrior.
insectoid has zero traits that positively influence warrior in any regard
