Your channel has been such a joy to stumble onto and I appreciate how passionate you are about your craft and the diverse world of TTRPGs! I’m really looking forward to your UDT video, as I am in the middle of figuring out my first UDT craft! After years of taking a break from running RPGs, your crafting videos and rules light systems have brought me back in full force. I’ll have my notifications on in eager anticipation
Amazing videos! I wish I had saw this videos of paper craft a couple of years ago. We switched to play online on foundry because minis are very expensive in my country. Now we can play on person once again. Thank you so much!
The other reason to not use buildings with interiors is that it's a lot more fun to have a town where all the buildings are bigger on the inside, you get to cram a lot more buildings into the town so it feels bigger but still have lots of space to do things inside.
Yes, this is a great point!! I have basically done this by putting a tavern on the board, fighting outside in the street, and then been like "Oh, all of the distance is abstracted anyway, this tavern as actually like 3 times the size inside." Best thing 4e ever did was call everything a "square." Who cares about the number of feet things are???
Seen ads for Acidhouse pop up terrain houses. They figured out a pretty good fold flat construction method but you have to buy their manufactured ones not PDF. Great video. Thanks for sharing
Love this guy's voice and commentary. Could literally listen to him talking about dirt. As it turns out I was interested in learning about paper craft as a first time GM. Great video can't wait to see what else he comes up with.
This is so inspiring. Thank you. I do scale plastic models, and I can see now how I can flex paper models in between drying steps of my plastics as a way to pass time and be productive.
Yeah honestly, I just wish that people would make content that makes stuff just the easiest way possible. Too much RUclips crafting stuff is like "Here's how to make the absolute best version of something possible," not the scrappiest, easiest thing that will just suit your needs.
great video. I loved the teaching style and the informal atmosphere. I hope you continue producing about paper minis and terrain. there is a world of possibilities in DIY and being less dependent on big companies and such. explore the more creative side and allow ourselves to create our hobby. let's go let's go.
Great video. I actually did paper craft as a kid. Designed my own tank. For dnd I couldn't find the print outs. Looks like you did the finding for me. Loved you paper minn video too. Made a bunch of em
just wanted to say a big thank you. I was stressing out trying to make this fancy terrain for dnd. Messing around with XPS foam and all these other crafts. Being able to just hit print and cut some stuff out has been so freeing. I no longer have to dread painting all these terrain bits and can focus on my cool minis. Amazing channel i will subscribe and follow your website !
lol I'm gonna be real with you, that is NEVER happening, haha. Making that ship during COVID probably took... 20 hours? Or more, maybe, of INTENSE work. I developed migraine headaches. I'll never do this again.
Ok but talk about that Ultimate Dungeon Terrain circle you sneak peeked. I love using mine and think it’s almost criminal that more people aren’t discussing the method.
Oh god I was DREADING getting this comment. Was just telling someone that I have a great method for making UDT using paper templates glued to wood, and it's so much easier and better looking than throwing together some foamcore monstrosity. God, now I might have to make that vid...
What a great video! I've been looking to get into terrain building for D&D and this seems very accessible. I've refused to buy layouts until now, but think tbf it does work way better like this probably 😂
Haha see, I actually had the thought midway like "Oh... I actually... haven't made a paper kit in a month or two. Whatever, I probably don't need to run through this part first." I needed a run-through, lol. Glad you liked it!
Houses with balconies are super simple to make if you have the supplies on hand, just get yourself an exacto knife and some super glue! The boat is an absolute terror though, it's a great kit, but it was like a part-time job for a whole week, just a nightmare. But it feels super solid!
The short answer here is: I've experimented with this intensely, and have never found a solution that works, except for my section here on "pop-up" terrain. Most of the stuff in that category packs flat, like the stuff you see in my opening on that turntable. But like, whole buildings? I've never made that work.
I don't! My big rule with the channel and the stuff I make is like "As light as I can keep my process in order to also be totally functional." For me, edging is just a step further than I feel the need to take. I have one or two edged buildings, and when you look at them from a foot or two away, you can't really tell which are edged and which aren't.
OH SNAP!! It was this comment that made me realize that when I was younger (god, maybe even a teen?) I used to DREAM about putting these kits together but didn't have the resources. I think I mistook them with Fat Dragon, but it was definitely WWG that had the best kits. Wow, what a throwback, thanks man. Yeah, they'd be killing it if they were making kits today.
The forums on that page are still filled with tons of information, recommendations, advice. It was a strong community. Handle was Shatteredragon, and I used to have posts that showed how to solidify this terrain to match and rival resin and plastic terrain for durability and solid strength. Definitely miss those days.
Algorithm worked for me. It was in my recommended, probably from following Crooked Staff Terrain YT channel. Definitely subscribed here.
Dave Graffam's paper crafting guide is the finest document on the subject for any beginner! Thanks for spreading the papercraft gospel for gamers!
And it's so simple!
My friends don’t give two diddly squats that I have painted miniatures, I’m switching to paper terrain and mini’s lol. Great Vid.
Haha, yeah forreal, check out the paper minis vid, it's SO EASY to have great-looking stuff fast and cheap. Players don't care!!!
I’m in the same situation
I’ll still buy kits and paint, but at the end of the day I want to play tabletop games

Crooked Staff Terrain has superb pay what you want terrain. More involved crafting but still all paper textures!

My girlfriend and me a d thinking about getting into paper terrain for alpha strike. This is exactly the video I've been looking for, thanx.
Very informative. I sometimes glue the image to strong material like wood or foam board. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah man of course! If you're used to resin and such, paper is just such a breeze, you can bang stuff out so quickly.
Loving that you approach this as a regular amateur. Thank you.

I really appreciate these paper crafting videos! Trying to get my friends to play some d&d with me in person and you're giving me all sorts of ideas.
Yeah start simple!

Amazing! I'm in love with paper minis and terrain. I like this ship
Wonderful video! I found that double sided tape works really well as a glue substitute and has much less potential for messes.
Oh man, you're using TAPE!? It just seems like so much more work!
Keep making these! I love this channel and it’s helping me run a game in my tiny apartment. 😂

Thanks man!!!!! How has it been going, has the paper stuff continued to meet your needs?
long live the paper models!!!!
I'm waiting for a guide for that "Paper Ship" you got. I'm going to subscribe until I am notified when the video's posted.

Awesome job
That was great. You made it look very accessible.
Thanks Jim, that's the goal! Just so long as I can make it through the vid without gluing my fingers together
Papercraft floats my boat 🛶
Thank you! This was one of the best, most informative videos that I have seen in a long time. I am happy to have stumbled across your page!
Glad you liked it man!!! :)
Great video! just bought a paper town bundle
Heck yeah, did you start building it yet?
Ok but talk about that Ultimate Dungeon Terrain circle you sneak peeked. I love using mine and think it’s almost criminal that more people aren’t discussing the method.
UDT for life. Anything else is just too impractical!
Oh god I was DREADING getting this comment. Was just telling someone that I have a great method for making UDT using paper templates glued to wood, and it's so much easier and better looking than throwing together some foamcore monstrosity.
God, now I might have to make that vid...
@@Jack-gs6sd 3 months later and I still want that video!
Keep up the good work. I hit the like and subscribe buttons.

Thanks for the video! Great overview!
"I shouldn't publish this video with how poorly I'm doing" I say this with every video I make LOL. Love paper terrain. Keep up the good work.

I use a glue stick and double sided tape to hold things together keeps it from sliding around too much
I can see me gluing card to balsa blocks with those tiny ones 😅
I use Dr pepper, tv dinner, cereal boxes I already have. I then use sticky backed paper.
Holy smokes the ship look huge everything things looks great I always wanted to make a house with a balcony

@@Jack-gs6sd please show that ship if you get a chance, I got everything I need to make a balcony I think I guess I'll have to try it on my next build
I would like to tell you about Kirigami and how to make decent paper trees
[Me, refusing to learn new things]: "It can't be done."
I have been making papercraft buildings for year, when I saw the buildings in the opening sequence I got a big grin, I have made all of those. lol
Ooooo, folks we go a Dave Graffam fan over here!!! I really wish Graffam would make like, 10 times as many models.
Also, to be more in line with your space-saving binders for paper minis, have you any sources for fold-flat terrain?
The short answer here is: I've experimented with this intensely, and have never found a solution that works, except for my section here on "pop-up" terrain. Most of the stuff in that category packs flat, like the stuff you see in my opening on that turntable. But like, whole buildings? I've never made that work.
Maybe you should have performed a dexterity check before starting that first rook 😂
Way cool video
Do you do any edging on your score cuts?
I don't! My big rule with the channel and the stuff I make is like "As light as I can keep my process in order to also be totally functional." For me, edging is just a step further than I feel the need to take. I have one or two edged buildings, and when you look at them from a foot or two away, you can't really tell which are edged and which aren't.
can you make also cardboard?
Cardboard how? Like the material boxes are made of? Sure maybe, I just don't find the need to go heavier than card stock.
Where do we get these printable models at? Free sources or?
I browse a bunch on a site called Papermau. He links to original creators, which earns brownie points.
Look in the video description, I have a blog post where I list half a dozen creators. Shop around as see if there's anything you like!
LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I miss World Works Games.
