At 3:10 I thought the curved beak means it's a raven, or are terms basically interchangeable?

I just got two baby crows could use any advice for a pet crow
Male crow to female crow: "Honest baby, I swear it, I'm 100% faithful 80% of the time."
Actually, it's often the females that are "unfaithful"! Similar to prehistoric humans, the females would sometimes copulate with more males than just their mate, often one after another sometimes. Likewise, her mate would likely have engaged in the male segment of said behavior (i.e. they might be one of the males that mate with a female after she's mated with another... mate isn't the right word, but you know what I mean)
@@JesseDylanMusic prehistoric humans lol, women do it today dude, forget about prehistory
@@7yep4336dfgvvh true and they complain we are unfaithful
In Australia crows wait by water holes for animals to get a drink and the crows proceed to groom and remove ticks from the animal drinking water. That's a very necessary service they provide and it's super smart. Instead of looking for food they wait for it to come to them
Hi Lesley! I am 59 years old and have crow encounters throughout my entire life. They do recognize people and tend to show up at important times in my family's lives. My kids have grown up watching how the crows interact with each other and with us. I am passing this down to my granddaughter now. Just as crows have strong family bonds, they also have recognized my children throughout the years. They are so smart and loving. I really appreciate your corvid videos. Thank you so much for sharing the good side of them!
I like watching crows, they're smart animals. Once saw a crow trying to crack open a walnut. After pecking at it without success, it decided to try picking it up, flying up and dropping it on an asphalt road below. After that failed attempt it sat looking at the nut for a minute. After several cars had passed, it picked up the walnut and placed it in the road. After more cars had passed, the crow would adjust the location of the nut until finally a truck managed to break it open enough for the crow to peck out the nut inside. What an amazing animal. Since then I've grown to like crows. I know why they harass the hawks, but I like hawks as well.
Yep! They are very smart they can remember faces as well!
Last week I saw a crow attempt the exact same thing on a local street, it kept dropping the walnut to no avail. While the crow was up on the building top I helped it out by smashing the walnut with my foot. It waited until I was a couple hundred feet away, then swooped down and enjoyed its appetizer.
@@NipkowDisk That's so cool, I'll take my grandson out every morning before I'm off to work to watch crows fly in. Even got the kid to call out to the crows. Caw caw caw...lol. And again in the evening before they fly off to wherever they rest for the night. Glad you got a personal experience with one.
I thought the crow funeral was a myth until I saw one. It took place over a period of a few days and ended when I buried the dead crow. The mourners watched me then just left. They are fascinating to watch as they patrol the valley here.
I witnessed a crow chasing two doves off a building. All it had to do was walk towards them.
My favorite bird. I think crows have a sense of humor,
Hello Lesley! I love your videos, but you already know that. Crows are my friends here in rural PA. I invite them to roost and nest around my property as they are the BEST defenders of my chickens against Hawks. Since the crows don't tolerate hawks, they drive them off and my free-ranging chickens don't have to fear the skies :) The Feathered Ape... aptly named :) I am happy to see your channel continue to grow! Finally... will they eat mice? Your information about them being song-birds is VERY interesting! Thank you again and again...
Frederick Dunn I don't know about eating mice, but when I laid a dead rat (non poisoned) out on our lawn, they showed up and stripped it down to the spine, and chopped it into three pieces. Yum, yum... crow pizza! My Wife was not impressed.
Hey Frederick, sorry for the late reply. Just seeing it now as I try to catch up on comments. That's awesome about the crows keeping the hawks away from your chickens. Thank you, I'm amazed that my channel has grown this much. It's great :) And finally, your question about whether crows ear mice or not. I'm not sure if they eat live mice because I've never seen it before but I have seen them eating dead ones. I imagine that are capable of catching and killing a mouse though.
Glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for the nice comment. Have a wonderful day!
Crows are my favorite animal. And I love hearing them sing. Thanks for another great video.
I TRULY LOVED MR. PIEWACKET !!! HE WAS A GOOD FRIEND FOR A BIRD
I LOVE them. Absolutely LOVE them ! 😍😍😍😍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
so glad to live at a time when Corvids are gaining the respect they deserve.
I have come to love the Magpies that are quite common on the front range of Colorado!
My favorite bird, love them so much❤
I love learning about God’s creations. We know some animals do have self-awareness, so fascinating. My great grandfather had a ‘pet’ crow he called Carlo.
Evolution is nice thing ain't it?

Crows are one of my favorite birds.
Crows or just corvids in general are by far my favorite birds, they're reallly funny to watch, they're always pulling tricks on each other.
This is one of my favorite videos. I love crows. Across the street from one of my deliveries is a family of at least 50 to 60 members. It's beautiful to watch them. I love your heart.
Love your crows.
How could someone dislike this beautiful video? I just don’t understand... Thank you so much for this amazing video, Lesley! This brings so much joy to me during this Quarantine.
I liked the fact about them being self-aware. That's really cool.
Crows/corvids/ravens and chickens are my flock and if you don't care for them - CAW CAW CAW!
I wouldn't _bawk_ at that🐔! your youtube videos would prove it!😄
Just discovered your youtube channel and I love all the fun facts and important info on wild birds. Tks so much!!
I've always loved them. They are the protectors of the neighborhood. They always let us know when something is wrong. The fact that so many people dislike these amazing creatures hurts my heart.
A BIG thank you, Lesley, for all the knowledge and love of birds you share with all of us.
I LOVE crows! If you told me they could read an encyclopedia then recite it, it would not surprise me. They're amazing. I happen to love their call, it's my ringtone!
Birds are amazing and so joyful to look at. I am a bird person, my cat loves them too.
I love my crows. They also talk a lot.
Thank you, all ways lovely video.
I adore crows. There is a type here, in the Yucatan, that sprints along the Carribean coast and has a deep melodious whistle as well as other vocals. Sometimes they fly just over the beach, one noisily chatting to another. When they land to grab a few of the teaming insects in the seaweed, the chattering continues. Other times they are silent. They've begun to trust me a little as I sit quietly in a beach chair admiring them. These are scruffy seeming in comparison with the sleekness of the American crows you showed and with whom I'm most familiar. They add immeasurably to my day, every day.
it's awesome that they are songbirds. I only knew crows until we moved to Pahrump where we have these amazing ravens. welove how they play in the air on a windy day, it's like birds surfing they wind.
I find them very Interesting! 💖💖💖
I adore crows! When I visited Salt Lake City my Father was feeding Magpies. The looked like crows with white on them. Beautiful birds
So excited to have a crows nest in our yard- in a large pine tree.
Thanks for this video. My favorite fact”they know what they know”
God loves the song of crows. He gave them their voice.
♥️😘♥️I adore the Crows, absolutely adore them. I feed them shelled unsalted peanuts and excellent dry kitty.food. Recently found a Crow who's left leg is severely injured, however, this Crow has adapted. With the food I feed it amongst it's other Crows they are all doing well. I adore them, absolutely adore them. Graciously, I thank you♥️🙏♥️
Crows are beautiful and extremely smart bird!!! I love them!!
I love crows so much, keep them in a good spotlight Lesley
Loving your work ❤
Corvids are such awesome birds! The most intelligent of them all. It is so ridiculous when people complain that crows eat eggs and nestlings, as if they never fried an egg of eat some damn chicken... Hypocrites!
...at least they eat them for food. Local cats will do the very same thing just to practice killing!
i love crows they are my favorite animal =3
I've been feeding a family of crows for a couple weeks. Very smart birds, they wait till they see me then they fly down low so I can see them. Awesome birds.
Iv reared many crows. They gave a sense of fun and can see right through you. They are super intelligent and very self aware.
Super cool. Thank you Lesley!
I live on a rooftop in New Orleans and have become fond of the crows that visit regularly for bread. Their initial weariness of me was admirable.
Your videos are interesting and informative and I like listening to them because I find the nature scenes calming.
Thank you Lesley. I share your love of corvids. The are dignified, sentient and magnificent.
since i was a small child we have always had birds as pets not kept in cages and not in the house ! but in a 12x12 shed with the window always open and then they can come and go as they please ... on my way home from school i would shout its name and it would come flying over the hedges chattering with joy and land on my shoulder tickleing my ear with its beak.. i found them to be very inteligent..all they want in life is securitey love and a full belly and somewhere cosy and warm to sleep.. i could go on all day but i think you get the gist of my feelings towards these creatures. [who want to make friends with us ] and when they do they make your life more complete.. regards laurence
I interact with a Murder of Crow's now for 6 years! I really enjoy all you share about your observance of Birds !! Thanks :)
Crows & Ravens are my Favourite Birds.
I want to be friend with the crows that live nearby, gotta find what food they like
We put out scraps of meat and corn feed. They sit in our tree and call out their orders lol.
Always enjoy your videos, thanks
I love crows. I have a family I feed at work who have become quite accepting of me. Most times they’ll even come when I call them.
I stumbled on this site and fell in love with it. Thanks for putting it together!!!
Glad you like it!
*As a Raven I’m disappointed you haven’t done a video on us yet*
Some day soon I hope 🐦🙂
@@LesleytheBirdNerd i know getting good footage is tricky...takes me months to earn my Ravens trust.
New Caledonians to be specific.
There's a local cemetery with a large crow population. The place is beautifully landscaped, with hundreds of older maple trees and oaks. It covers about 45 acres in all. It's very beautiful in Autumn.
Anyway, the resident crows and squirrels have lost most of their fear of humans.
I sometimes arrive with a large bag of unsalted peanuts. Within a few minutes, word has spread, and I'm surrounded by crows and squirrels. I love it.
I really enjoyed this. Thank you
I love crows. I really admire their intelligence.
truely extraordinary
AWESOME 👏🏼 Video ‼️
Thank You 🙏🏽 4 Sharing ‼️
I LOVE ❤️ CROWS‼️ 🙏🏽❤️
one of my favorite birds
Great video Lesley. I have great admiration for crows, and have enjoyed rescuing two crows on different occasions with my wee dog Lucy, cardigan corgi. One crow would sing her name when I let her outside. I know it was one we rescued. The fun fact I enjoyed was your reference to their song. We take the crows caws for granted, and surely miss it if they decided to go to Brazil, my second fun fact.
crows are probably my favorite type of bird
Love your videos, thanks!
Great Sound, video and content is cool 😎 about the 10 facts 👌.
I love the way you narrate your experiences and knowledge of birds. Just like music to me. Thank you Lesley.
Great video. Thank you!
I liked all of points you made.
Thank you!
Never knew they are songbirds. Thanks for your informative videos 👍😊
59 years!💕 Wonder whether they communicate with that energy. Crows and Ravens are fascinating. Jays too.
I can't believe some people gave this a thumbs down, lol, must be the same ones who hate crows. Great video Lesley!! I love learning more about them. Mine have been getting rotisserie chicken for 5 plus years every morning plus peanuts etc. and they still fly off when I go to put more out. A couple hide in the trees and peek lol but that fact about them not trusting humans in rural areas makes sense. By the way, the print of Blue and Sweet Girl is beautiful 🥰!!! Thanks so much! I might have to bug you for more prints, I love the photo you took of Feisty Jay and Nova!!
Why not, be happy. Do what makes you happy in life. Keep us posted.
Amazing animals!!!
What do they call a phone conversation ?
Answer: phone caw.
Thank you for making this video. Crows are my favourite animal yet they are so hated by some.
I live in a European city but fortunately next to a huge nature reserve. For the past FIVE YEARS, I have gone to feed these crows every single day.
They are so very, very smart. They recognise my car and I get 100 of them dive bombing me until I park. They recognise my face (if I am in my husbands car).
It has taken five years but just last month they started to eat from my hand. Maybe in another five years I will be able to touch one. Just once.
Incidentally for all my fellow crow lovers out there. The seem to love meat. Cat food especially and if you want to make friends with them, try to be consistent and alone. Even though my husband has been with me so many times they are still skittish.
Also I love their song. Especially the little clicks they make when they are relaxed.
Have been a crow fan for years. I love hearing them converse with one another.
I absolutely adore my crows in my backyard. I feed them peanuts, steak cubes, and hardboiled eggs, etc. I talk to them and they hang around to listen.
Crows are absolutely amazing I love crows and ravens and I want either a raven or crow so badly lol
informative and nice photography
Also, Lesley, I’m from Ohio but I live in Texas. This early January I’m going on a solo camping trip in Port Aransas. My main goal is to see whooping cranes. It isn’t guaranteed I’ll see them, but it is likely. I’ll take as many pictures and videos as I can and if they are of any quality (I’m a birdnerd, not a photographer) I’ll be sure to send them to you.
Something about even the possibility of seeing a 5 foot tall bird with a 7 and a half foot wingspan just ignites the greatest passion any bird nerd could experience.
Aww Jenn that is super kind of you. If it works out I'll have to do a video on them for you and my followers. 🙂🐦
@@LesleytheBirdNerd you’re too sweet. I would love that, but if nothing else I would just like to share it with someone else who has a passion for birds. There are a lot of us, but it’s not like I have any friends who share the passion.
Crows are beautiful birds
I hope more and more folks learn crows help crops by eating the bugs.
crows are the Metal singers among the song birds.
I've always liked crows. I admire their cleverness and their antics have always cracked me up. I'd like to lure some to my neighborhood (they'd chase the pigeons out, maybe!).
Another great video.
Thank you.
Thank you for such wonderful & informative videos! Crows are amazing!!!🥰🥰🥰
Very well done video, and narration
In suburbia with a huge possum population. I am extremely grateful to the crows magpies and currawongs in helping keep some kind of equaliser.💗
Thanks! It gets me sad to know that people think of crows so negatively, I appreciate you sharing more about them!:)
Me too, they are really awesome birds so intelligent too. Thank you for the kind donation :) Appreciate it a lot
I 💖 crows and ravens!
The Baltimore Ravens NFL team got their name thanks to Edgar Allan Poe's book The Raven. Thanks to Edgar, the species got a far removed jolt of street credibility in a positive vein. Go Ravens!
When I was in grade 5 I had a crow that would follow me to school every day for the entire school year. When the summer break came, I stopped making the walk for two months. So when grade 6 started, the crow never returned. I was sad about it.
"And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered." Genesis 9:2
I love your videos 👍 Can't wait for others🤗I Love "ALL BIRDS"🕊️🕊️🕊️
My crow buddies just love my occasional scraps of salami, chicken trimmings, and its like christmas on a plate of porkchop bones😂
I like crows. They help me find owls and hawks to watch because I know to look when I hear them freaking out. Plus they look so funny when they walk on the ground.
I love crows!
Thanks!
I did not realize that crows were considered songbirds. It does make sense, since Blue Jays are viewed as songbirds, and they are in the same family. As a fellow bird nerd, thank you for teaching me something new, and spawning some personal research! 😄❤️ As for the unreasonable comments… Yeah. I have many friends who dislike crows and ravens, mainly because they enjoy the smaller songbirds and have lost babies to the bigger birds, and I can understand the distaste. But it is the way that life goes currently. As sad as it is to see happen, it is much easier to swallow than unreasonable hate. Thank you for showing the sweet side of these Feathered Funnies. 😊👍🏼
As always, great job! Interesting, educational, fun. Love your vids.
I love crows.
I love it when crows show up while hunting. When deer and turkey see a group of crow feeling safe enough to feed they usually come out of their hiding place.
Crows at my local park know my truck when I pull in. I always bring peanuts.
