Damn good list. I also suggest a 5G system on board and hands free bi directional communicators for the crew so that crew comms can be seamless, hands free and constant. You can seperate function by channels so you don't have over chatter on critical communication.
I agree you cannot have too many power outlets, no matter how many you have you will always be a few short.
Music controller ... yea how did Nico miss that.

      13. Sepetate Heading indicator
      14. Wind direction indicator - switchable to true and relativ
      15. Public address / alarm system
      16. Seperate GPS
      18. Sepetrate AIS controll
      17. Space for Binoculars
      18. engine emergency stop
more space between Steering tiller and other equipment
put fire control system higher and away from stuff you could acidently touch or putt / spill something on
beside the VHF big enough flat space to make some notes on paper

I would go 5 screens: Nav, radar, depth, camera, boat systems. Systems will be your slush screen, for when you want to run a near and far radar, two different charts, etc. I say this as a captain with 25 years of actual time at sea. That's commercial, but a boat is a boat. To put a perspective on it; among other active screens, I have 2 radars, 2 charts, 2 sounders, and 2 cameras, up at the master station, at all times. One each; depth, nav, and radar, at both port, and starboard, helm stations.
That kind of redundancy is probably overkill for you, but you should always have depth, position, radar, and cameras (this is a part of watch standing) up, and fully in view during operation. You then need the fifth screen for doubling up in specific evolutions. Examples are when you want to have your current position up on one chart, and scout ahead on another chart. With radar, you often need a close view in tight traffic, say .5, but would still like to have a larger picture of what's coming next, say 6 miles, on another screen. You never want to give up your base screens, those are 100% uptime, the 5th screen gives you that.
I'd also move the rudder indicator into your line of sight. An ideal location would be in between the window frames, right at eye level. Mounting it there would put it right where you want it.

You can add additional external speakers to one of the radios eg ch16 radio that way you know which one is which. And still mount at the top side by side. All alarms at the top so you can see from any angle/distance. Engine starts i think better at the top less chance for anyone to touch it by accident and they are used that often. Anything that used couple times a day only put at the top. Anything used frequently or during emergency at arms length.

Since you will be in the sun/hot weather a lot, maybe extra cooling for the equipment. Keep in mind, it’s not the ambient temp, it’s the temp inside those consoles and the equipment rack(s). Make sure you are moving enough air to equalize with the room and its easy enough to size, just add up the average running watts and convert that to btu.

Thank you for the very descriptive explanations. Ricco knows the business it is easy to see. He definitely doesn't need anyone's help. Every time he explains something I keep learning. I am sure that Ricco is an excellent captain and that it is very reassuring to see him behind the console, especially when the weather is not good. His wife cuts him off so often to talk about such insignificant things like cupholders. Mr. Ricco has quite a good character. Keep up the great work.

It's hard to tell the angles from the simulation, but I would recommend having the side screens turned in at least 45 degrees, maybe 60. What looks good from 2 meters back is not what will be most clear when you are right up at the helm, and trying to read digital screens at an angle gets all warpy or can reflect side-glare. The centerpoint of each screen should point right at the pilot, like a semicircle.

  • @stingray4540
    @stingray4540 Месяц назад

Of this whole video, the description of the two radio layout was the most heartwarming to me. Being surrounded most of the time by not very smart people, the thought process and logic of the VHF radio placements alone would make me feel honored to be on a boat piloted by him. I don’t need to know anything else about his experience or skills to know what I need to know about him as a capable leader. I could never afford it though, but details like that give me hope for humanity.

I would put in a middle bigger monitor right in the middle and move the left and right side both outwards. This screen would be to have a larger view of things for the current mode you want to see. Or 3 bigger screens, with 2 outboard on each side that has the smaller screens stacked up; for a total of 4 small screens and 3 larger bigger screens.

Usecase for a PA system is pretty clear, the intercom is for the guests mostly, but you would need to speak with the engine room once in a while too.

I still think you should put a compass dead center on top of your room, monitor screens, and all the old cleaning that has the liquid in it. And I think you should put some lights underneath your counter with the lip of your counter that can light up the floor area for when you drop some thing in the middle of night etc.. I think your little side reading lamps are a good idea. I just like you to be able to switch them from red to like regular reading light back-and-forth meaning is a switch on them and I’d also like to see a couple on the opposite ends of the couch that’s behind you for the person sitting there maybe the reading When you’re tied up in porch, or in a beautiful little cove, and I want to read a book where they want to war do their emails and so on and they can do it by red light. At one point you talked about wanting some kind of mapping system throughout, the boat where people could look and see where they are versus where you’re going to I like that idea and I hope you have that in various places throughout the boat like in the kitchen area maybe even in your private bathroom for when you step away from the wheel for a minute And a few other places throughout the boat. I’m surprised he didn’t put some kind of music control station above. The helm is your calling if there or the consult or whatever you’re calling them and will you be having loud speakers that you can speak to other boats as you’re pulling up beside them or shouting at somebody on the dock? Have you thought about maybe an easier color on your eyes like maybe brown leathers instead of the real stark black that holds all the heat? And what about your hand controls that you could take from the helm, and go out on the side or out to the Bauer Someone to move the boat around where are those going to be incorporated into the home so that you can maintain them at all times make sure that they’re charged and ready? And I think you really need to think about your storage in there I think you’re gonna want, maybe some overhead club compartments and some of that leftover space for various things I do know you’re gonna want some drawer space to have those random things that you need at all times where are you going to put your binoculars without making that you’re your counters in so long will cluttered. She’s gonna want some drawers. Where are you gonna keep all those logs you know when you did your oil the history of what you’ve done to the motors, and all the other various charts that you must maintain are you gonna have some files like drawers underneath the bench or you gonna have places for Maps ? I think you need to design a spot where you keep your daily notes I’m your forever gonna be thinking of something that you want to check on or fix. And like any other couple I find it when I’m comfortable there either too cold or when I’m hot they’re comfortable so I would look into heating both your captain seats and the bench, but with individual controls so that you can both be very very comfortable. And I would probably plan also with additional drink holder or drink holders on your captains chair because I don’t think you’re gonna want to get up every time and lean that far over to get a cup when you’re sitting down and there will be times you’ll be there for many hours,2,4,6,8 and a time in that chair be nice if it almost folded up to a little counter next year she could can bring your grilled cheese and ham and a little mescaline salad and roasted tomato soup. But it’s not. They’re constantly in your way, but falls down when not needed. Are you gonna put in one of those alarms to make sure that the person staying awake when they’re on night watch? Because this boat will probably be traveling a lot around the world slowly over time I think that you should also put in some clocks to show the different time zones so that you’re always correct when trying to reach out to somebody because you will need to reach out from time to time. So you know that in Seattle, you could reach some supplier at this hour and your time zone is six hours or eight hours difference and someone be nice to see that Inc. somewhere end of the helm. I also like to see a charging place for your laptops and your iPads because when you’re not on watch but you’re still hanging out with the captain and you could be doing things checking emails writing emails and someone plus your phones etc. a place to store all that bus. Keep it charged.. design a place to store the cleaning supplies for them for wiping down your screens and etc. wiping off the shifters and so I’m just it from time to time. I’d have flashlights up there for a number of people already in it inside a cabinet where they can always be charged at all times but when you put it back it charges up. Just like your your radios with a headset so you can talk to one another without having to yell. With backup charging points like in the cruise quarters maybe next to your bed. You didn’t talk about where your horns buttons are going to be and I think you’re gonna want a number of very big horns so I thought maybe you’d want to have a very prominent position to be able to go over play the various mariachi songs and things through your horn system. Are you going to have a place to put out a map that is under glass that you can use a wax pen to write on and possibly even flip a switch and it can be under lit? For the person that’s on the bench behind a little table, I hope you’ve made storage for a comfy blankets and possibly even a real pillow. Maybe the backside of that table on the underside has a couple of drawers old is pens and various things maybe even just a straight up junk drawer, where you find some multi tools and glass repair kitchen, etc. place to put people in emergency pair of sunglasses for when it’s too bright.

Looks GREAT! However. Have you ever seen a Console with the Screens Tiltable? That way you can angle the Screens up or down as you prefer. Also, I see there are storage/ Breakers under the Starboard side. What about the Port side? If there was the possibility of Storage there too, then it would balance the look of the Helm better IMHO.

I guess, add a table in the helm room. For food.
And, a place to lay down, for a nap, in the helm room.
Intercom radio, to call to the living room or back deck, et cetera.
Stickem notes, as reminders for fuel, food, stops, in the helm.( They are 2" by 2" notes that stick on to refrigerators, countertops, etc cetera).
Not sure, if there is a wind direction reader. Or, if it's necessary.
Maybe that's in the screen chart reader. With direction of currents.
    Binoculars.

I agree with some of the comments about having maybe another monitor and possibly spreading them out some more and/or making slightly tiltable for any glare encountered. Also the recessed counter tops for keeping things from sliding off or a small railing to hold things if you don't want to lose storage space. I think since you will have red lighting for night time, you guys need to live it up some and put in a mirrored disco ball to set the mood when Rico is blasting some music. 😉 Also down here in the south we call those grab bars "Jesus Christ" bars.🤣 Can't wait for the boat to get finished...keep the video's coming. Eventually captains will have optional use of small hand held controllers and a helmet with a screen that displays where the captain looks through the use of dozens of remote cameras. The captain will have 100% control over the boat. Fighter pilots have something similar to this now, helmet is close to 1/2 million dollars, with the rest of the hardware all in close to $1million. Rico thinking, I bet Loon doesn't have one of these. I'll take it!!!

The Fireboy indicator, lower alarm panel, engine room fan control and generator control panels should all move to the upper console. They are rarely used but still can be easily seen and monitored up there. Swap the location of the windshield wiper control and the Fireboy indicators. That gives the very important fire panels pride of place on the upper console and puts a control that you will be continually fussing with, the wiper control, in a much more easily accessible place.
Move the radios back to the space that was occupied by the fan and lower alarm panels. But, your point about using spatial diversity (yes, I'm an audio geek, too, Rico!) to discriminate which radio is carrying the traffic is a very good one. Provision external speakers on the overhead (ceiling) left and right of the helm chair. The external speakers will provide MUCH better sound quality than the tiny, tinny, internal radio speakers and will be closer to your ears that way, also. Indeed, flex some of your audio muscles, Rico, and provision some professional powered speakers rather than use the almost-as-bad Furuno external speakers. Try a mock up of this on the test bench. You might be very surprised at how much better and more articulate a VHF marine radio can sound!
Where is your Class A AIS? Did I miss it? Strongly suggest you provision an Iridium GMDSS terminal (not INMARSAT): www.iridium.com/products/lt-3100s-gmdss-system/
Where will the inevitable laptop, printer and Starlink equipment live?
Maybe I'm getting ahead of the game, but where are the helm air conditioning controls? Helm lighting controls? Convenience outlets and charging ports? Consider built-in wireless charging spots for phones and such to eliminate nasty cables. Strongly consider putting an autopilot steering control and Furuno remote control on the arms of the helm chair alongside the inevitable cupholders, of course 😉

you have INFINITELY more experience that I do but, I would consider putting LIKE ITEMS together thinking about getting assistance on your bridge.
For example, if you bring in someone to handle all communications for you, the radio heads should be next to each other so they aren't walking back and forth behind you to adjust the radios?
you did mention that the CCTV controller should and will be closer to the CCTV screen, of course that makes sense.
but any task you may want to delegate to an assistant during a time of need, ALL of those controls should be gathered together.
just a thought, I've enjoyed filling along with your build.
