Hello Sir, I have the V6 Animal Dyson and the brush head stopped working last year and I put it away in the cupboard. I watched your blog showing how to clean, take apart and cure problems and I thought "I can't do that" so the Dyson went back into the cupboard.....Well today, I watched you again and I took the Dyson apart, cleaned and CURED the problem. So to anyone who thinks they can't do it, watch this man and you can't go wrong. Thank you for being so informative. I am so grateful to you.
I was watching as I was taking it apart. There was a very important detail that should have been pointed from the start... Do Not Wet any part other than the filter!! I did and fingers crossed when it's completely dry, there will be no problem, hopefully.
I found one on the street, so I decided to take it apart and then found your video I went further and I got the motor out including its little rubber housing which you just pull out and then immerse the whole motor in water no harm whatsoever. I put it in the ultrasonic cleaner and then sprayed it with brake cleaner. It’s fine and went back together and it’s good. My reason is that the bearings are dust sealed also water sealed. I went further and took the cyclone apart a little bit more than you did by removing all the screws. It then went in a bucket of warm soapy water. It’s all plastic and there’s no electrical contacts to damage. Even the contacts on electrical contacts were just wires going from A to B, no damage.
AWESOME video with step by step instructions on how to remove all the parts on your Dyson V6 machine and get all the powdered dirt, hair, and all around gunk removed from every nook and cranny to make it run just like new. I actually looked at the roller and really didn't see anything wrapped around it. Thus, I wasn't going to complete the last step Stampy showed on this video. However, when I turned that gray button to the left with a washer and removed the flat part above the roller, I found lots of fuzz, dirt and leaves that were hidden between the roller and the wand. With your help, Stampy, I was able to refurbish my Dyson V6 to like new condition. THANKS SO MUCH!!
just given my v6 the clean of its life. I never did anything but rinse the filter before, I nearly died when I saw the amount of stuff that was still left in there. great video. thankyou. have shared, liked and subscribed. now I am going to buy the extra's that I need.
Super! Thank you so much. Will be doing this immediately. Your video on how to repair the brush bar that won't spin saved me from having to buy a new Dyson. So glad to see these for a V6. Mine was great until 2 days ago and it's about to be rejuvenated. Subscribed, liked, and bookmarked. Thanks again for this tutorial.
Thanks for you clear, precise explanations about cleaning the DC 59. The description of disassembling the cyclone was great. I know mine is extremely dusty and dirty but did not know how to disassemble this part to clean properly. I have bought a new filter,so will now disassemble and clean before installing new filter and brush in bottom.😊
Thanks! Have a 10 year old DC59 and the battery was on its last legs. Thought about replacing it but found a replacement battery and your video. Now it's as good as new!!! You should have seen the s..t that came out of it when I took it apart!!!!!!!
GREAT!! I pick these up on trash days, clean and service them and usually give them away. I have kept 2 for myself a V7Animal and DSC59. Shame the charge doesn't last longer.
I just followed your video and want to thank you for making it. It helped me completely and saved me from buying another. I really appreciate the time you took to make it.
Really great video. Particularly liked the emphasis on not getting the parts wet as another video I viewed washed some of the parts. Many thanks for a very professional presentation.
Really good clear explanation. THIS is why my DC59 had got very smelly ! - I was cleaning the pull out filter in the way Dyson tells you but I could tell it was not very efficient. Now I can give it a thorough overhaul, simply and easily. Thank you Stampy!
Fantastic video! Thank you for creating and sharing 👌🏼 Honest, straightforward and practical display of how to clean a Dyson Stick Vac. I didn’t realise how first mine was until I started the clean 😳Cheers Mate! 👏🏼
Great stuff thanks for the video tutorial. The only part I couldn't do was separating the cyclone head from the motor section. Pushed the two white tabs together but wouldn't unhinge from the back, so I left it and cleaned the unit all in one.
Fantastic video! Especially conformation of the size 8 Torx screws and the need to not get anything wet because of later circuit damage through oxidation,
Thanks a ton, Stampy! I was on the verge of getting a new DC59, but figured I'd check out RUclips before giving up. Ours was cutting off/on...I'd clean the filter and withing a day's use it starting surging off/on again. I did buy a set of 6 filters yesterday, so I'll be golden once I get it all cleaned up. Seriously, thanks a lot.
Thanks a lot! Can’t wait to turn my tuned up Dyson on in a few minutes! A hair clip (which we Americans call a Bobby clip) was blocking the bar from freely rolling. Some compressed air & WD40 in all the right places, along w/ a fresh filter, & I know she’s gonna’ be ready just like new! 💖
Great video. I think the best one I’ve come across for servicing a V6. Full of relevant tips. I haven’t seen anyone else say to use a plastic coin to disassemble the head, but that makes so much sense to avoid damaging the fitting which I’ve done when using a knife or screwdriver! One thing I’ve now done is buy a HEPA filter head and upgraded my original V6. It was quite cheap and came with a new motor-so I have a spare motor as well!
Great how to video, I took my apart and found it full of dust and dry wall dust along with pet hair. I took my further apart than you shown to get at the dry wall dust out that stuck to sides of everything inside. Definitely saved my $$$. I have order a new battery too.
Just received my replacement battery from Dyson & the instructions that came with it are far from clear. Hopefully I will be able to replace it successfully after watching your video. The cleaning tips are really useful too - thanks a lot. :)
Both your Dyson tutorials were easy to understand and the Dyson V6 worked great after following your instructions! Now my trigger to make it go won't work. Have you ever gotten inside to fix that problem? I'd appreciate your help so much! Thank you.
Thanks for the detailed information, please can you show how to clean the 2 filters at the end with the motor in as part of the overall cleaning. I've seen someone else who did it, but they recommend washing the bits n bobs in water. Thanks again for your advice about that.
I just got a free dyson, the same one you have here, because the head doesnt spin. It will only turn 1/4 way around each time i pull the trigger. Hopefully doing these steps will make it work properly. Thanks!
Someone was giving theirs away saying it was a battery issue and died real fast. I tried to run it and see if there was an issue. It would go off and on. I took out the filter and did what you showed and a massive clump of hair and junk came out of the bottom of it. I washed it with dish soap (Because it wasn't smelling that great, now it smells like pumpkin spice dish soap! LOL) and now it's outside to dry. I tried to run it again and it didn't do the off and on. I figure if it runs smoothly after that I can just order more filters instead of a battery. Off to clean the brushes and maybe shove a cloth through the tube with a broom stick and see if I can get this at its cleanest. Thank you for the information!
Can you share a link to purchase the charger? I purchased this from a thrift store for $20. I vacuumed the stores carpet and it worked great. I just need the charger. I’m going to give it a good detailed cleaning following your steps. This is the best video I’ve come across. Thank you
Probably not. I opened mine for the first time after years of use, and it was pristine. Let me emphasize, mine does not have the purple twist-off kind. I'm talking about foam inside the exhaust vents at the back of the motor housing. The piece that contains this is easy to remove if you want to check. However, I did make a small mark in the plastic when I used a screwdriver to pry it off.
Thanks. I have a V11 but many of your tips seem to be applicable to my model. Mine pulses, except on max power. I did find a vent that was blocked with silt, but it still pulses despite being thoroughly cleaned. I replaced the air filter. The only thing I haven’t done yet is open the cyclone part - I will when I get a Torx screwdriver. Any other tips for a pulsing machine?
Hi my Dyson 6 animal has a motor in the head the brush comes out but not the motor can you advise please. Your description of how to clean was great thank you.
This was super helpful, so clear and easy to follow. The only thing I couldn’t do is the little screws as I don’t have the tools, but I managed to get a pipe cleaner in the little crevices. Someone gave me their dyson as they said it was “broken”. Now to see if it runs better once the filter is dried out! 🤞
Any leads on replacing the thin gaskets inside the cyclone assembly? I broke mine down as far as it will go to super deep clean pet odor, and I’m thinking I should just replace the gaskets if possible. Dyson call center had no idea what I was talking about and said they don’t sell gaskets. 🙄 Also, thanks for your great content!
Amazing thank you so much really bloody useful sorted my fluffy 🎉 Dyson with death 😂 indeed. Cleaned the head amazing had a load of hair near the end fixture obviously I clean it off in situ but removing the head is brill. Vacuum cleaner for life anyway when you maintain it
Hi. Thank you so much for such a good video. I was wondering I have hoovered up a fair amount of plasterboard dust with mine. Does this video cover how far it needs to be stripped back? I didn't realise I was killing it!! (PS my dyson does frighten me... all the time!)

Thanks I went and got a new battery thinking that was the problem. Wish I watched this first.
Best video on how to keep your Dyson vacuum running smoothly!!! Thanks for making the video!
I was watching as I was taking it apart. There was a very important detail that should have been pointed from the start... Do Not Wet any part other than the filter!! I did and fingers crossed when it's completely dry, there will be no problem, hopefully.

You have helped me immensely. Thoroughly serviced our’s today. Thank you. 🇺🇸Ohio.

This is the best Dyson V6 maintenance video I have seen yet!
Just purchased one from a pawnshop and this is the most informative video I have found that’s far.
Thank you so much, this is the best service instructions,I couldn’t have accomplished this task without it.
I echo the above. Great podcast
I was given a free Dyson, but the motor turned on and off. I cleaned it out like you did and it works great! Thank you for your help!!

Great, easy to follow tutorial, just wish I had watched before rinsing the filter under water, thank you.

You just reinvented my 6 year old Dyson V6 😘
Thank you so much for your video. You have just saved us from buying a new Dyson.
Brilliant!
This was the most helpful video. Thank you!

I was able to get mine off. It wasn't easy but then torc screws were rusted on. Disappointing as I could see so much dust inside! 😕
Excellent video, very clear explanations !
Thank you it’s helped a lot as I didn’t have a manual.
Thanks for the tips, was ready to buy a new foot pedal but hoover working perfectly now 😊
Fantastic video! Especially conformation of the size 8 Torx screws and the need to not get anything wet because of later circuit damage through oxidation,

Where did you purchase your hepa filter head? Thanks in advance
@@slrcouture found an original Dyson replacement on eBay through a UK seller. But there are also unbranded Chinese versions available.
@@ginovairo6487 ok. Thanks
You just saved me from having to replace my Dyson. I already had a new V11 in my Amazon cart. Instead I ordered a RoboRock S6 MaxV AI robot. Woot!
Great how to video, I took my apart and found it full of dust and dry wall dust along with pet hair. I took my further apart than you shown to get at the dry wall dust out that stuck to sides of everything inside. Definitely saved my $$$. I have order a new battery too.

I just got a free dyson, the same one you have here, because the head doesnt spin. It will only turn 1/4 way around each time i pull the trigger. Hopefully doing these steps will make it work properly. Thanks!

would you recommend cleaning the rear motor housing filter or swapping for hepa?
Very helpful.
