Thanks for watching! Here are the song lyrics: DIAMOND MINE Choke on the weight of the trust implicit Unforgiving It’s not your funeral So why should you give a fuck Broke from the decades of rust contingent Indecision But it’s on your schedule So I’m left under the crush I am the crystalizer Biding my time in the Carbon shiner I’ve been waiting all this time for you You’re nothing but a diamond miner Search while the earth Turns the pressure higher I am the crystallizer Now turn your eyes on me Float on the breeze when the gust Is breathing No misgivings As it fills your wings remember I am here when you land Hope is the flow of the sediment Always descending You excavate the harvest Of corpses carbonite I am the crystalizer Biding my time in the Carbon shiner I’ve been waiting all this time for you You’re nothing but a diamond miner Search while the earth Turns the pressure higher I am the crystallizer Now turn your eyes on me Dig Dig Strip the earth away Dig Dig Tap the gleaming vein Dig Dig In the rough unknown Dig Dig Patient as a stone Excavate the quarry To unearth your carnal prize But all you’ve done is uncover the sun So I can shine In my diamond mine Dig
Any video that you make that breaks down how you write music is inspiring and honestly makes the whole process seem less intimidating. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos.
100% agree. Had no idea this was taking place. Very excited at the prospect of another contest with this awesome end result in mind. All you guys got my creative juices flowing, and i want to take part!
Something doesn't need to be in Drop L or triple Drop B to be heavy, much less the alternative tunings and such, cause take "Bloodletter" or "Dismembered Memory" by August Burns Red, both of those are hella heavy songs, and they're both in relatively light tunings in comparison to the more modern metal.
Love that kind of content, moar pls! It was also very nice to used Drop D, it's a very accessible tuning and you showed how heavy and modern it can sound.
I really didn’t like when you took that really cool, proggy riff that you wrote off of his riff, and got rid of all the interesting melody and the fact that it had an actual progression of notes and dumbed it down. Otherwise, good video.
I should have took ur advice .. im now on right right direction ! Im back watching and learning again i got studio one 6 and some packs u suggested ..ill post something some time aheaf
That was inspiring, man! That's a big compliment coming from me because I'm super picky, too. And shit, Stu! Great riff! Trey said you have a really good song that you made out of it too, I'd love to hear it! You oughtta throw it into a Friday stream some time!
Awesome! I love that you actually right lyrics! So many videos are like "eh today let's write a song about... pizza" and there is a place for that in examples etc but it's just awesome to see you complete something fully!
Great video. I really appreciate you explaining how to write songs. I’m a bass player and I come up with riffs all the time or parts if you will. I struggle with where to go next. Have you and I just haven’t seen it yet or can you make a video on how to write a song from a bass riff? That would be awesome. Thank you, Jack
Hey man just wanted to say you obviously have described a LOT of other guitarists/musicians who have written a simple riff and want to take it further. I am that guy. I have so many of those riffs. I suppose I never really looked at the idea of breaking down the original riff to create a new one. I have always bitched that it’s my inability to see good notes I should be using within the key. This is really going to help me. I’m attempting this 7 day song challenge thing but I’m a day behind. Rock on.
So, if you're wondering about the polyrhythm, that riff is basically this: 2x7/16 + 5/8 + 4/8 = 2x4/4 Really well placed syncopations, and banger of a song. GJ, and congrats again Stu for winning!
FUCKING DOPE BUD! ALL new respect. 🤘🏼👀 👅 Always tuned in for the riffs Did not realize you had such good lyrical delivery and content. REFRESHING THANK YOU
I love your song writing videos 😻 Can you please make a video telling us why you only record on one single track and then move the recorded take to another track !? Haven't seen anybody else doing this. I'm so curious about this
Thanks for watching! Here are the song lyrics:
DIAMOND MINE
Choke on the weight of the trust implicit
Unforgiving
It’s not your funeral
So why should you give a fuck
Broke from the decades of rust contingent
Indecision
But it’s on your schedule
So I’m left under the crush
I am the crystalizer
Biding my time in the
Carbon shiner
I’ve been waiting all this time for you
You’re nothing but a diamond miner
Search while the earth
Turns the pressure higher
I am the crystallizer
Now turn your eyes on me
Float on the breeze when the gust
Is breathing
No misgivings
As it fills your wings remember
I am here when you land
Hope is the flow of the sediment
Always descending
You excavate the harvest
Of corpses carbonite
I am the crystalizer
Biding my time in the
Carbon shiner
I’ve been waiting all this time for you
You’re nothing but a diamond miner
Search while the earth
Turns the pressure higher
I am the crystallizer
Now turn your eyes on me
Dig
Dig
Strip the earth away
Dig
Dig
Tap the gleaming vein
Dig
Dig
In the rough unknown
Dig
Dig
Patient as a stone
Excavate the quarry
To unearth your carnal prize
But all you’ve done is uncover the sun
So I can shine
In my diamond mine
Dig
Hey Trey this is God send work! Thank for teaching us how to arrange a songs!
Any video that you make that breaks down how you write music is inspiring and honestly makes the whole process seem less intimidating. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos.
Wes Borland would be proud.
You should do more of these. Really liked it.
Agreed! Definitely enjoyed this one! 🤘🏼
100% agree. Had no idea this was taking place. Very excited at the prospect of another contest with this awesome end result in mind. All you guys got my creative juices flowing, and i want to take part!
Neat riff but I didnt think it was all that heavy. jmo.
That’s what all the comments on the winning video say.
I feel like he picked a riff that wasn’t the typical heavy “architect” riff. But it combined like a djent/classic rock riff…yeah cool riff 🤘🏻
Might not be the heaviest but it has more of an impact than a bunch of the basic low tuned stuff we hear constantly these days
I wonder if this whole thing came about because of all the Riff Salad entries from the 200k contest
When does the heavy music start!?
🤣
Man you should enter this tune in that 200k contest, I think it would do very well
Sounds like if Tool got 200% angrier! Especially with that "dig" lyric
Nice, but I bet you would have gonged this if someone else submitted it to the other contest
Love that kind of content, moar pls! It was also very nice to used Drop D, it's a very accessible tuning and you showed how heavy and modern it can sound.
This song really kicks ya right in the carbon shiner!!
Really cool, gave me some Periphery vibes
Okay, that bridge was sick. Nice addition to an already sick riff!
Stupendous Riffage
I really didn’t like when you took that really cool, proggy riff that you wrote off of his riff, and got rid of all the interesting melody and the fact that it had an actual progression of notes and dumbed it down. Otherwise, good video.
Stu is going to shit his hoodie when he hears this! Great job yall!
😂😂😂😂😂
Dude - you kick ass
Very well done! Thanks for featuring in the last video and see you next time! 🤘
I should have took ur advice .. im now on right right direction ! Im back watching and learning again i got studio one 6 and some packs u suggested ..ill post something some time aheaf
Hi Trey. Great video. More please. I don't like your guitar. It is ugly. Regards.
That Kiesel model is hilarious. Looks like a baby explorer
Great fuckin tune ! Awesome job Mann!!
this is pretty much treys response to the riff salad entries. good educational video for those who can't turn riffs into songs. great job trey! \m/
That was a nice riff, for sure, but, not a Hidden gem riff lol
Thank you so much for the huge inspiration 💙 this is so amazing!
Yesss!! Let's gooooooooooo!! That turned out KILLER
Wow! That turned out better than I expected! So much talent on RUclips! I love it!
That was inspiring, man! That's a big compliment coming from me because I'm super picky, too. And shit, Stu! Great riff! Trey said you have a really good song that you made out of it too, I'd love to hear it! You oughtta throw it into a Friday stream some time!
Hope the diamond doesn’t mind when I mine it.
Awesome! I love that you actually right lyrics! So many videos are like "eh today let's write a song about... pizza" and there is a place for that in examples etc but it's just awesome to see you complete something fully!
Another banger. Amazing!
This was amazing, thank you.
That was absolutely fucking dope!
Wow, Trey. Damn.
Nice dimebag riff. Speed it up and it would almost be cowboys from hell
That was freaking awesome! haha Great job to the both of you!
you were able to describe how to write a song so well! (GREAT SONG btw)
This was great, and congrats to STU MAYHEM!!!! (Gold). :)
Sick track, the verses and bridge sound fantastic. Where's the chorus though?
Hey man just wanted to say you obviously have described a LOT of other guitarists/musicians who have written a simple riff and want to take it further. I am that guy. I have so many of those riffs. I suppose I never really looked at the idea of breaking down the original riff to create a new one. I have always bitched that it’s my inability to see good notes I should be using within the key. This is really going to help me. I’m attempting this 7 day song challenge thing but I’m a day behind. Rock on.
That was just epic!
never thumbed up faster for a video thanks to that intro S I P.
Just to let you know the very beginning of the video where you take a nasty gurgly slurpee sip of whatever is in that cup made me not watch your video
Absolutely sick 🤟
Cool song, Trey.
Great song... was hoping for a cool lead break though.
I love that after you turn down thousands of songs in the song writing contest , you proved that you know what you’re talking about!!!
That was frikken awesome! Before you put vox to it I was getting some serious Sonic Mayhem Quake 2 vibes!
I enjoy ur videos but u didn’t really use his riff. You chopped it up so much it’s not even close to his riff anymore.
I mean I played it verbatim like 3 times in the song
You have to have evolution, repeating one riff over and over isn't a song.
Banger. I'm always amazed by how talented you are in everything (songwriting, guitar, singing)
I was using EZ Bass until I went mad and went out and bought a real bass LOL.
that riff has dt written all over it, sick riff
This is sick man you should release this song. Love how it came together creatively.
Disturbed meets some techy riffage nice riff
and then it went to korn?
You're a Metal God. I salute you.
So, if you're wondering about the polyrhythm, that riff is basically this: 2x7/16 + 5/8 + 4/8 = 2x4/4
Really well placed syncopations, and banger of a song. GJ, and congrats again Stu for winning!
Make sure you measure twice and cut once.
@@dt7667 actually its terrible advice for working with any degree of precision. You mark once, cut once ;)
Not too shabby…I woulda made it a weeeee big heavier but it’s really good…bottom line you really made a great video to help me out….cheers Trey
Nothin' wrong with a little... um... Progressive... Groove Metal? Is that an oxymoron!?
We're can I send riff or song to get your feedback
Definition of desktop metal 🤣🤣
Well, this turned out quite well.
Congratulations to Stu & nice son @Trey
remind me of Textures somehow
My god!!!! Thats amazing!!!!.More!!!! More !!!!
Wow. Pretty badass.
Please do more of these!!
Gong Gong Gong ! Triple Gong.......
Treys true sound.
Huge Chimiara vibes here
earning my sub
2023 and i still like it
When I s the next contest?
How’d you make your velocity overlayed on the sequence like that?
Switch it to velocity view on the track in Pro Tools
@@treyxaviermusic cheers thanks
We have Lamb of God at home
I'm using your 7 day course to write a song for your latest song writing contest. So...if it sucks it's partially your fault. Just kidding.
YEAH!!!!!💯👁️👁️🏁
I got lyrics
Badass
FUCKING DOPE BUD! ALL new respect.
🤘🏼👀
👅
Always tuned in for the riffs
Did not realize you had such good lyrical delivery and content.
REFRESHING THANK YOU
@TreyXavier Maybe for the next contest you do send this video to all the contestant's emails as an example of how to write a riff.
Congratulations, you ripped off a musician to make a few bucks .
NOICE
Add a synth and it's Fear Factory? Cool song though :D
I feel like it flat lines tbh, but this is an awesome positive educational video for those wanting to wet their toes!
when you buy periphery from wish (but like in a good way?)
Got a Soen vibe from it
Edit: Until the vocals came in lol
This is a neat video concept
the riff reminds me a bit of "Hyro The Hero - Bullet"
hey Trey it's been awhile i hope you like eggs boi
For a $1 you could join Nail the mix
Sounds like a Disturbed song lol
I forgot how HEAVY drop d is
Chris patt here is still alive. I am impressed
I bought your songwriting course yesterday, curious will these videos from your youtube channel about songwriting be added there also?
Awesome, thanks! Hope you like the course! These videos will not be added to the course though, gonna just leave them here for everyone
The song is way too good please release it
12:00 had some serious KSE vibes
How to make riff boring?
I love your song writing videos 😻 Can you please make a video telling us why you only record on one single track and then move the recorded take to another track !? Haven't seen anybody else doing this. I'm so curious about this
He's creating a scratch track
.
Love these kinda videos
that riff is fantastic!
That was sick!
