A massive thank you to whoever put this on RUclips. I was the 'ugly' girl in leopard skin and I've been looking for this clip for over 20 years to show my daughters! Thanks a million!
Haha... then you are part of my 'youth memories' ;-). I had this whole concert taped on VHS (lost it unfortunately... ;-) and saw it 100s of times ;-). Still looking for the entire concert on tape/youtube or whatever...
Wow Chenoa, how cool ! but I'm of curious ... what is your definition of pretty ? I beg to seriously disagree with the term 'ugly' applied here. Lol, a happy life to you !
Lee Robertson you make the trombone rock rock rock I was there in 83 such happy times Hammersmith Odeon was such a fantastic venue You can’t ever explain to your kids what concerts were like when WE WERE YOUNG kId creole coconuts Mandi bongo and the pond life orchestra Thank you thank you thank you
Meri to Dryl 505 . Kid Dryl, could you tell me when and why the wonderful Lee Robertson died and why? Do you know what age and he had sons? was he newyorker or from where? I'am so glad. I only now know from a video uploaded in year 2017 by Coati Mundi, that next to Lee's name there were the letter (R.I.P) I am Italian and live in Parma. So much to answer me, and thank you so much, Meri
SergioMartelli Well, the only mainstream stuff you'll find that in is probably Hip-Hop and maybe PunkRock but it all get's silenced or censored somehow still, right?! And someone who did that 'ugly girl' thing would probably run into trouble, cause it's so not 'pc'.
I dunno, think we'd get away with it..Where I live in Manchester UK, it's often played at parties, and we never have objections, even Robert Mitchum recorded it and recent punk bands, a funny song, I think there's a riposte version, some great archive here..daily.bandcamp.com/2018/09/14/calypso-classics-list/
I was good friends with a local band in Northampton England who called Eddie in to play at a televised gig some years ago. He needed some timbales so I borrowed some from a drummer friend which did the job. They're still in my attic 17 years on. I still get phone calls from my drummer friend asking if I've finished with them. He's never heard of Bongo Eddie so I just change the subject and say that I'll see if I can find them. He's not getting them back!! RIP Bongo Eddie.
And Bongo Eddie is back with KC... A bit larger than he was back in the day! Annie, I'm Not Your Daddy. Kid Creole and the Coconuts, Nikki Beach Marbella 2011
I was at that concert too! Saw KCATC in London twice in the mid 80's(?) and now have tickets to see them at Hampton Pools 14 July. hamptonpool dot co dot uk
Yes, many people did this tune, a contemporary of Roaring Lion - Sir Lancelot (who wrote the original of 'Shame and Scandal') as well as this chap who gained notoriety later on ruclips.net/video/nUPxElXRTtQ/видео.html

No fucking smartphones ruining the ambiance 😔
A note to "msuppaner". This song was 1st recorded by Jimmy Soul in 1963. Long before Joe Dolce.
