The efficiency is about spending less time on each task, if you have the time you don't need the efficiency. But it really depends on what kinds of projects you tend to or want to undertake. When it takes 20 hours of resource collection before you can start a build it may make sense to optimize where possible. I'm also not that person, but they exist.

My main source of fuel is regular coal from wither skeletons. Wither skeleton farms give you loads of coal in a short amount of time and it would sort you for life to only use it once.
I adore how simple this Furnace Array is. And while you can farm Shulker Shells now, I can see why people without dedicated farm would cringe at burning them.
Crazy to think that it's possible to automate smelted stone and smooth basalt along with other similar items without any player intervention whatsoever
I would love to see that charcoal farm hooked up to one of these! Maybe even with a composting system for excess stuff from the farm that goes back into the bonemeal part of it
Right even if a moss loop would be sufficient for the bonemeal. Also if the log farm is fast enough you can also keep some logs and have half of the requirement for automatic shulkerboxes covered.
I know hopper locking isn't that important in Vanilla, but it does matter if you play on a public server with an admin that is struggling to have good tps in 1.18 and will just do the spanish Inquisition on all the farms that get built. But it seems easy to adapt the design for that tho Good video btw
2:53 you said later it is possible to use different kind of materials at once as long as it is full stacks. But here you can see that the pickup of the smelted item isn't picked up at the perfect time. So if the there is now a item that smelts into something different it would waste full and fill the furnace a bit so it may be that the next time the fill up minecart is above the furnace it can't drop its items. So the timing of the second minecart should be refined.
actually there's a 10 seconds window. There's no "perfect time", it's a perfect time frame. The collection hopper minecart always perfectly picks up the smelted contents of exactly 1 distributor hopper minecart. So even if you have mixed items that aren't a full stack in a minecart, causing it not loading 320 items, it's not really an issue besides some of the last furnaces not being used, because the other hopper minecart will pick that up exactly again.
@@ilmango I mean if there is a item in the output of the furnace and the item in the input doesn't have the same outcome as the item in the output is. Then the furnace will not start the smelting process until the old item is taken out of the furnace. But the coal is still burning. Now the ending of the smelting process of the furnace is out of sync with the delivering of the next item. So if the next Item is now again not the item that is now smelting the furnace will not pick it up and will burn for 10 seconds without smelting anything. So every time switching to another itemtype has the potential for wasting 1/8 of a coal per furnace.
You need to smelt 1 kelp block per 20 smelted items (ignoring the kelp you have to smelt to make dried kelp) but you only have to craft 1 shulker box per 1728 items smelted. Since crafting shulker boxes takes 3 steps I'll say it takes 3x longer to craft 1 shulker box than 1 kelp block. At this ratio you would have to spend about 30x more time crafting kelp blocks than you do crafting shulker boxes. So 2 minutes crafting boxes would be 1 hour of crafting kelp blocks. Ain't nobody got time for dat. Yes I realise you were just pointing out the irony, but it was worth doing the math anyway.
@@porkeyminch8044 in the spirit of doing the math, it would actually take one shulker box per 13824 items smelted (assuming you're using charcoal like is done in the video) since each piece of charcoal smelts 8 items
@@AgentEm34 You're right, I goofed pretty bad there. So around 4 hours crafting kelp per minute spent crafting shulkers. (Still ignoring the cost of drying kelp)

Hey, mango, I appreciate a choice of your taste for shulker colors at 8:40 :) It's very kind to support my country in such subtle manner, even if it was'nt intentional though ;)
I wasnt even aware that shulkers were more easily farmable as I just spawn a custom villager that accepts 10 emeralds for a shulker shell and then I have tons of other regular villagers to trade tons of stuff for emeralds
I mean, it's not even that hard to get pretty much unlimited shulker shells now. So destroying shulker boxes doesn't seem like that much of an issue. By the time you would ever need a furnace array this size you likely would already have these things as well. So I entirely agree. Great design btw. Will definitely use it at some point.
But if you could save the shulker boxes somehow, you could use them to store the output. That would be really convenient, wouldn't you say? That'd use twice as less shulker boxes than it does now, which saves a lot of hassle in the long run if this genius farm was used a lot, even if designing such a thing would be more difficult. I see no actual downsides to it if it's possible, and I'd love to see you explore the possibility.
Sounds cool. How do you use curved rails? Is there a video on it? If you replaced the chest boat you would probably also have to switch to a more complicated filling station.
@@simonprobert8765 no the filling station gets significantly easier. For the curved rails it would quite literally just be a line of curved rails. The cart moves twice as fast along a ling of curved rails compared to normal power rails.
@@ilmango it isnt directly about the speed, the curved rails allow it to hit both hoppers on the side. That means you dont need the chest cart. Side note: No worries, but i wasnt credited for the cart yeeter.
In a furnace array I prefer to reuse the shulkers from input for output. Constantly crafting new shulkers is as annoying as crafting kelp blocks for fuel.
This is a great design. As soon as you showed the shulker box unloader yesterday, I knew it would be fast. I've designed my own smelter around a year ago and I felt like the bottle neck was unloading the input in a timely manner. Definitely gonna try revising my design with some of the new changes. But there were 2 things that stuck out to me a bit 1. I just don't really know how charcoal farms work bc I haven't ever looked into them. Is it just a wither skele farm that separates drops? Or is would a wood farm that smelts the logs be better? 2. I think for general servers, disposing of the shulker boxes would cause a lot of headache. Even though they're technically disposable now, shulker farms are often made by one person on a small server and then they maybe sell the shells. I'd be worried about upsetting other people due to a potential in game monetary or sentimental value. People are also not reliable so I could totally see a situation where someone forgets to take out their shovel from the shulker of sand and then there's a shovel clogging the furnaces But this is still a really good smelter and I love the use of the hopper minecart changes. For my smelter, I used some funky hopper minecart positioning and a double chest to split the input 4 ways, I'm curious if an approach like that could be applied here as well. Or a potential 8 way split with chest boats
1. Easiest way is to make a simple 2x2 spruce tree farm and a furnace array that automatically turns the logs into charcoal. A wither skeleton farm to get coal is also a good option. 2. A lot of people think similar. I want to make a 160 furnace array that I think will be better for a lot of players, which will keep the box. It's basically impossible to make a furnace array that is perfect for everyone.
What kind of automatic tree farm could keep up with the log demand to fuel this farm automatically? I can't find an azalea tree farm design fast enough that's also lag efficient enough to combat am automatic bamboo farm refueling design
carpet duper is decent lag if you’re okay with it.. I just modified this design to use carpet dupers that can turn itself on/off automatically and I can send you the schematic if you want
i just made a cobble stone generator (120k an hour) and made 16 carpet duplicators and smelting cobble in a 128 mega furnace. yeah i got 60 double chests of stone in no time LOL
If I made this with 3 spaces between furnace rows instead of 1 it looks like it would be possible to lock all the hoppers using repeaters pointed into the furnaces. I would use the method RaPsCaLLioN1138 used for the Khaos forge.
It makes me a bit sad that the shilkers get destroyed and the output is just an item stream, but I guess that's probably easy to adapt for the user's preferences. Anyway, great video and lovely design!
So, since you can now fill hoppers adjacently with chest boats, does that mean you can put blocks on top of those adjacent hoppers? If so, you can put blocks which lower the hopper lag, correct? Not sure exactly how much this helps, but in a huge server, who knows how many hoppers can have reduced lag using this way. Every little bit of optimization matters.
How excactly does the part work where the items get loaded into the hopper minecart at the start, I don't quite understand how the hopper clock is powering the observers and then the dispenser.
I get an odd bug with this design, occasionally the "to cook" hopper minecart returns to cactus with items remaining, as a result said items are pick up by the hoppers causing issues with item distribution, anyone else had this issue?
Shulker dispensed => BURNT in the lava =>items land in the water What? Am I missing something or why are we destroying the shulkas and why do the items get dropped when it is burnt? Or is this something I missunderstood?

This is an autosmelter all you need is a log farm. You make the charcoal using this auto smelter.
"The downside of using kelp blocks is that you have to craft them"
.
.
*Uses shulker yeeter*
I'm loving these build videos! btw what happened to the 3x3 chunk challenge?
There will be 5 more episodes. For various reasons we stopped for a while and its hard to get going again. Inertia is a bitch. After that Scicraft season 2. Hopefully soon
@@ilmango looking forward to it!
4x4 chunk challenge and SciCraft Season 2!?
That's fantastic.
Awe amn! Now i see wjat you mean by boats being game changing
Disposable shulker box is great but you still need to craft shulker box and also craft chest
Hey, mango, I appreciate a choice of your taste for shulker colors at 8:40 :) It's very kind to support my country in such subtle manner, even if it was'nt intentional though ;)
Russia!!!
I wasnt even aware that shulkers were more easily farmable as I just spawn a custom villager that accepts 10 emeralds for a shulker shell and then I have tons of other regular villagers to trade tons of stuff for emeralds
Interesting idea-never thought of this
I mean, it's not even that hard to get pretty much unlimited shulker shells now. So destroying shulker boxes doesn't seem like that much of an issue. By the time you would ever need a furnace array this size you likely would already have these things as well. So I entirely agree.
Great design btw. Will definitely use it at some point.
Dang, I'm early early, excited about this furnace array
Update: The furnace array is awesome
Yep
I read this really in the morning, had to do a double take
But if you could save the shulker boxes somehow, you could use them to store the output.
If you use curved rails the fuel distribution carts can go faster as well as not need the chest boat.
But there's no need for it to go faster in this design. You can also use a piston bolt to make it even faster, but no need really.
I feel like it going slower with waterlogged rails would be even better, then 2 coal would be put in every hopper
Coolest furnace ever
Just build a good wither skeleton farm. Basically unlimited coal. No tree farms needed.
Oh damn I was just making one in my survival world
Trying imagining how many items can be smelted in Iron Furnaces mod
Cant wait to see shulkercrafts version of this😂😂
This is a great design. As soon as you showed the shulker box unloader yesterday, I knew it would be fast. I've designed my own smelter around a year ago and I felt like the bottle neck was unloading the input in a timely manner. Definitely gonna try revising my design with some of the new changes.
But there were 2 things that stuck out to me a bit
People are also not reliable so I could totally see a situation where someone forgets to take out their shovel from the shulker of sand and then there's a shovel clogging the furnaces
But this is still a really good smelter and I love the use of the hopper minecart changes.
I'm not really understanding how it's more work to bring over empty boxes than bringing over shells and logs and still having to craft new boxes.
yellowo mango boxes !
Now we just need auto crafters to automatically make shulkerboxes
where there is an ilmango, there is a way.
@@YuuseiKurobanecan I get the schematic
Very good.
Very interesting :)
I wonder if you could fit a system like this inside a single chunk
i just made a cobble stone generator (120k an hour) and made 16 carpet duplicators and smelting cobble in a 128 mega furnace. yeah i got 60 double chests of stone in no time LOL
ilmanGOAT
Fully hopper unlocked
I think you can really make money with this bot.
If I made this with 3 spaces between furnace rows instead of 1 it looks like it would be possible to lock all the hoppers using repeaters pointed into the furnaces. I would use the method RaPsCaLLioN1138 used for the Khaos forge.
It really is pretty simple
It makes me a bit sad that the shilkers get destroyed and the output is just an item stream, but I guess that's probably easy to adapt for the user's preferences.
Anyway, great video and lovely design!
how do you get the chest boats in place?
So, since you can now fill hoppers adjacently with chest boats, does that mean you can put blocks on top of those adjacent hoppers? If so, you can put blocks which lower the hopper lag, correct? Not sure exactly how much this helps, but in a huge server, who knows how many hoppers can have reduced lag using this way. Every little bit of optimization matters.
I have a strong suspicion that putting a block ontop will disable the hopper from interacting with entities
New video leets goo
when scicraft?
i can't get used to renewable shulker box. for that i made a grave for each shulker boxes. it did not go well.
How excactly does the part work where the items get loaded into the hopper minecart at the start, I don't quite understand how the hopper clock is powering the observers and then the dispenser.
how do i line up the boat properly to make sure all 6 hoppers are getting dispensed into and making everything timed correctly
Took me a bit to make but it works amazing!!
hey do know if it uses a minecart with hopper and a boat on top? or if its regular minecart with boat in it? im trying to build it but dont know
@@johnny9437 its hopper minecart in a boat, from what I remember you place the boat first and then ride the hopperminecart into it. hope this helps
Yay! \0/
*ilmango:* As simple as possible.
*Also ilmango:* 320 furnaces, over 100,000 items per hour.
*My brain:* So how do those rails go?
I get an odd bug with this design, occasionally the "to cook" hopper minecart returns to cactus with items remaining, as a result said items are pick up by the hoppers causing issues with item distribution, anyone else had this issue?
Wondrous design.
thats cool
How many items do you put into the hopper clock system to make it function properly?
for shulker unloader/loader couldnt you make it so that it is the same shulker? gets unloaded then sent to the shulker loader station?
Shulker dispensed => BURNT in the lava =>items land in the water
What?
Am I missing something or why are we destroying the shulkas and why do the items get dropped when it is burnt?
Or is this something I missunderstood?
new game mechanic for burnt shulkers to drop the items inside
He answers this at the end of the video.
@@Josh-ed7ui ah okay
But you atill lose the shulker....
That is really lategame to keep burning all your shulkers.... XD
@@chrinschbro It's the "tree farm + shulker farm" endgame stage
Is there a "smaller" version of this? I love the new mechanics but im not very good at timing all the things so perfectly :P
