One of my mate's old man had an E Series Fairmont Ghia with a Windsor 351ci (benefits of working for Ford Oz 30+ years, and the days when special orders still slipped down the line). It also had the cruise buttons modded for "manual" shift- if cruise was off, gears could be changed (well, kicked down) back to 2nd, and shifted up
Parked up since his old man's Parkinsons got worse- the 3 sons are doing a resto & freshen up on it, maybe a mild cam, bit more compression too. Auto needs some TLC as it didnt really like the "manual" shifts all the time. It was also painted in a Liberty Blue type color that wasn't in Fords early E series range; has the XR8 sprint bodykit on it, and "big" (haha) AJR 16" x 8" 5 spokes all around. Only thing i know about the engine, was that it (and a few others- reportedly) were Ford Motorsport USA crate motors used in house at Ford Oz for R & D. When Skylines & such were coming in big time in the very late 90's & early 2000's, that old girl would still hold her own- the ricers would beat it off the line, but anything over 200kmh that ED would reel them in like nothing else; and it gave my brand new MK 2 BF XR8 a run for its money (before i jammed a GT500 engine & box in it!)
Back in 2010 i use to own 1992 Ford Fairmont/Falcon ED XR6 S it was black and red and with xr6 sports wheels so great car's of all time in New Zealand and Aussie but your's is so wicked as 👌🏼
Those odo cogs pretty easy to replace pitty your not in nz done soooo many lol 🤦♂️🤣 ive got an ed xr6 thats an ongoing project just typed in ed falcon on you tube and here we are funny how the momo steering wheels are worth a small fortune i paid 30 bux for mine both e series are sick but you need a cobalt blue one 😎🤣🤟🤙
Yeah I’ve heard they are pretty easy although we left it with the experts to check over everything to make sure it’s all running sweet! Yep those momo steering wheels cost a few limbs at times ahah! Thanks for watching :)
I love your work fellas. I've got a couple of cars that need your magic touch. I don't have the time to spend on detailing them that I once did (or is it the energy?). Very keen to hear what exhaust setup you have on the white sprint. I've got an AU Windsor ute that has a nice exhaust but the drone at 3000rpm is bloody annoying. Yours just sounds so mint! I've also recently started on an EB2 GL-classic grandpa car-low km, mechanically great but with 1000 little scuffs and scrapes.
Much appreciated Ben! Love hearing feedback like this from like minded enthusiasts. Get in touch with us via Facebook, Instagram or find our number on Google. We’d love to help you bring these beauties back to life
@@smoothasbrothers cheers fellas. One of them is a bugeye STI that’s done lots of laps of Wakefield (and Oran Park/Eastern Creek) and earned a few trophies. I always fought the urge to strip it out and make it a track-only car and while I’ve been pretty careful with it, the blue/black mica paint really shows my lack of attention lately. I’ll drop you a line.
At 9:06 I hear that the EB S-XR8 has a blown head gasket no offence but that shouldn't be driven far or else if it is driven far with a blown head gasket it may catch on fire.
Head gasket was definitely not blown. It was driven for a few thousand kms after this video and also taken to the race track never skipped a beat or got hot. Rob being a Mechanic for over 25years prior to this detailing he would be the first person to pick up on something like that if it was. Appreciate the concern tho!
Thanks Mark appreciate the follow & feedback! Thats our Tyre Milk that we have up on our site for purchase. A 550mL bottle will last longer than most E series roof liners haha. smoothasdetailing.com.au/products/tyre-milk
Really loving the E-Series content! Such great cars, with a lot of funny little quirks. Hard to keep them in OCD friendly condition with the ageing plastics etc, but they’re worth it in the end. Just did the roof lining in my EB II GLi wagon, and replaced all the broken interior trim. It’s like a different car now. So much quieter with the thicker fabric material, no more rattles, etc etc. Time to slap on the bumper and guard I painted, then fix the bonnet. Slowly but surely!
Ah yes the good old roof lining we’ve done one now time for the EB. Plastics are so brittle when they are this old wish us luck haha. Keep the E Series alive mate good one 👌🏻💪🏻
Just got my self a white 92 falcon that imma fix up and daily
Nice nate well done!
that sounds mint mate

That’s crazy! Where does it live now? 351 would have been awesome

Awesome ride good to see they’re being recognised now and well treated!

Hey gents bit late on my behalf to see your video, but great one, what is the link for the steering wheels pls?
Thanks Peter!
Search up BM Leather Creations in Cremorne, Victoria. Bloke is a wizard!
Nice, love to see these e series getting some love. I got myself a SVO EB1 fairmont ghia v8 manual. Absolutely love the note of the old windsor.
Dammit. Should have kept my EB XR6 Wagon. I spent my entire 20s working on that car. Good to see young fellas working on and restoring E series.
They are all going up now hey!
Thanks mate, sadly sold the black one youll see in another episode BUT white one lives on :)

One of our favourite models! 👑
