ABOUT ME
Hi! My name is Margot and I am a professional artist and graphic designer. My parents like to joke that I was born with a paintbrush in hand. I started my career after graduating from the renown Parsons School of Design in New York City and spent over 15 years creating and designing for many of the world's top Fortune 500 brands and companies. My painting journey started as a side project and a creative outlet for me to step away from the computer, go back to my "roots" in fine art and to hone my skills as an illustrator and painter. I started posting some of my work on instagram and the rest is history. My work is inspired by all the things that I am passionate about. Ballet, travel, graphic design, color and finding a world of beauty in all facets of everyday life. I hope you'll join me in this RUclips journey as I take you through all the tips, tricks and trade secrets I've gathered throughout the years. Congratulations for your lovely baby girl ! What I would like to see and it would be a real reference for me in the future would be a kind of ‘ battle ‘ swatch, side by side per color… instead of swatching per brand, swatch per color one video for yellows, one for oranges… with your precious comments, your feelings about them… this way when I need a new blue it will be easier to compare I make a better choice based on my needs… just a suggestion if it’s possible… thank you for all your work. It’s really inspiring!
What an excellent idea! I think once I get through each brand I definitely will entertain doing a series on each color family that I own. I also like the idea of putting it in context because we could talk about pigment numbers and lightfastness all day but what’s really important is how we actually put them to use! 👍

I went on a 13 country European bus tour after college and our German tour guide taught us the Van Gogh pronunciation. You’re the first person I’ve ever heard say it correctly! I tell people anytime I say it but nobody cares. Eh. I care! And now I’ve found one other who cares 😀 her mother made us sacher cake when we passed through her town it was charming.

Van Gogh! They are technically student grade but they're basically artist grade in performance, honestly. I use them for my on the go set!
Yes! I was most curious about their Dusk color lineup which is unique. I don't remember if Rembrandt (the pro set of the brand) has them too but I wasn't able to get a Rembrandt swatch sheet.
@@Pointebrush they do! But I watched a few videos from professional artists who own both, and they mentioned the dusk colors are relatively interchangeable between brands! The only shame is the lack of true cobalts in the Van Gogh range, really; am quite fond of true cerulean blue. Otherwise, they perform quite well, especially for more illustrative work! Quite easy to control!

Schmincke is still my absolute favourite, they were the first profession paints I bought myself and I still adore them. This was a great haul! Love Saunders Waterford, being in the UK it's easier to get hold of and is often on great deals at Jackson's Art Supply or my local art shop in the imperial sheet format!
Congrats on the baby (although she's obviously a lot older now!) and I'd love to see watches of all the paints.

Hi Lori! Oh no… I’m sincerely sorry for any fiscal damages l may have caused 😂 😉 Honestly, Academy (while not as cottony and fluffy) is incredible so no need to migrate unless you’re delivering physical products to clients 👍

Thank you very much for this mouthwatering video. I really appreciate your great effort for pronouncing Van Gogh’s name properly, being Dutch myself… Actually we do not have a hard G in Dutch, so both G’s are pronounced soft, like how you pronounced the last one. (It is also the way we used to “smell” out Germans impersonating Dutch citizens in WWII, because they do not have a soft G and can’t pronounce it😂). Am also very happy that you say he is Dutch, because it’s always a thing with our French friends who consider him French! And now off to fulfill some of that craving you gave me for new watercolors, even though we have to order almost everything abroad on this little Dutch island (Curaçao) in the Caribbean. At least we can get the European stuff relatively taxfree nowadays from the Netherlands. Een hele fijne dag en dank je wel! (New sub)

It’s such a great idea to purchase a full set of mini pans from Betsy (whenever I’ve written a message with the proper name it has been automatically deleted by YT). Swatching seems to be a very popular opinion. I’d like to see your palettes in action in a painting please. Though nothing big, taxing, or time consuming. Anything really! Thank you. ❤️
Oh I didn’t know her name! And yes to seeing some of these things in action! It’s tough because I very rarely use more than 4-5 colors for most of my paintings so I’ll have to figure out a creative way to use them all without it looking like a bag of skittles 😂 But I’m up for it!

I LOVE MeowCafeWatercolor. I went to them to see which brand to use as my base watercolors. I tried Schminke, Qor, Mijello, and Sennelier samples. I ended up choosing Mijello, but I enjoyed them all.
Mijello gold is a great watercolor brand and very reasonably priced!

I have only one Umbria and it’s not my favorite. How are you liking yours?
I’m enjoying it for gouache and for anything that requires a stiffer bristle (which is admittedly not all that much). The one I’m really digging lately is Etchr brushes. More deets to come 😜
