In the last year I have gotten back into stationary , journaling, crafts, fountain pens , discovered junk journaling, making junk journals , book binding, scrap booking, planning, and everything in between. I have also discovered brands such as midori, hobinichi and the travellers company notebooks! I have found this incredible world of journaling from RUclips and I am so happy in it. I like to experiment and enjoy the permanence of the result, even if it is not as successful as I would like it to be. These ‘mistakes’ are tangible reminders of the journey I take as a creator. I have been working on journals since I was younger than you (I am now 56) and this practice has made me a better designer. Good luck and let me know when you post a video. I’d love to see!

Another store to visit - especially for washi paper lovers - is Shepherds Inc. Fine Papers, on Gillingham St, Pimlico. They have lots of lovely materials for those who are into making their own journals and other stationary crafts. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly and were super helpful in helping me pick the stationary for wedding invitations. Choosing Keeping is where I buy my Christmas cards. They're expensive but so pretty and have that 'good paper' quality!
Do they do bookbinding too? I purchased a beautifully bound copy of Pride and Prejudice there (is that a bit cringe?) and it is lovely. I think they also do bookbinding courses. Always want to do one but never the right timing. I'll be back in London in November so I will be sure to check it out

I live in Canada, but love London. I knew a couple of these (as an artist, yaay Cornelissen!), but I'm adding some of these shops (and some of your finds) to my next trip. I particularly loved the little Smythson pouch, the leather-case pencil sharpener, and that gorgeous pencil extender set. Thank you! 😊
Great guide. It's well worth going to Stuart R. Stevenson at 68 Clerkenwell Road too. Though more art-supplies than stationery, Cass Art's Islington shop is worth it and so is Cowling & Wilcox in Camberwell if you're south of the river.

Wow, how exciting to see your work on their shelves! Yes, there is a lot of space, and it is nice and bright. I do miss being able to pop into the space on the ground floor, though. I could never leave without buying something. You have to want a card to make it up to the 4th floor- though the card selection is good, as I said in the video, the stationery selection is disappointing. Papersmiths give it a bit of a run for their money. I'll check out your work!

Paperchase closed down over COVID-19. The price point here is slightly higher, emphasising handmade goods. I do miss Paperchase, too, though. There were plenty of things for kids that I didn't cover in this video. I used to take my kids there whenever we visited. I think introducing your kids to creativity is so important and having nice stationery makes the experience fun for them.

Great idea to make this kind of video about London. I come from Bremen, Germany and prepared for at least two shops and bought a Sailor mini at Choosing & Keeping and some more things just around the corner. I had the same experience as you with the journal shop.
I love stationery and I love London! I’ve been to all the of the stores you’ve listed and love Choosing Keeping the most! Green and Stone is another shop I love in South Kensington. If you make it out that way, you should check it out too ;)

I love the London Graphic Centre as it seems to have most things I need. With The Journal Shop in Shoreditch, I believe most of their online stock is held in a warehouse outside of London and that’s where they dispatch orders from. I found this out as I wondered if I could collect an online order from the shop as I was nearby, so I’d defo call ahead if you wanted to check out something in particular because “in stock” online won’t reflect what’s on the shelves.

Yes the color of the kislux is beautiful and it is a great decision, maybe one day they will add feet and straps. It would be nice to have a bigger bag during the colder months when we have to store gloves, beanies, scarves, etc…
Present and Correct had a small range , but the others from memory didn’t have any that I saw. You can get a huge selection online but unfortunately not as fun as shopping in person.
I have been living in london for around 9 years, and visited most of the shops related to the video, plus various that were not presented... and i still feel they are disappointing at some topics (some because of few options, others for not very artsy vibe etc). For London, I would expect much more. Taking out the oldest ones from the equation, the other ones are simply not appealing visually wise, they dont make me feel in a really creative space/place, and some brands that would be lovely to see it, are not there. London graphics does not have the neocolor 2 to buy online separetely , for example. Even so, there are some little gems in each one of them. I definitely prefer the Paris for that type of "hunt" and would love to go one day to the US and japan to check all the vibes of artsy shops. I also like to shop some supplies at cassart and Jackson's art supplies. Thank you for the video!!!

I did also look at stores in Paris and Krakow- but didn't record videos alas. I agree with you that I thought the quality of stores in London would have been better. I found that many had the same things, and the displays were disappointing. I loved Finders Keepers(it might be the vibe), but it is beaten hands down by Point of View in Seoul- 3 floors of absolute stationery bliss. I purposely didn't include Jacksons and Cass, though I went to both because I would classify them as art stores rather than stationery.
Can I ask about the little book of patterned papers at 15.16 please? I am looking for very small pads of varied prints and this is just what I am looking for
Not in London, but if you’re ever near Leamington Spa, Berylune has an amazing range of really desirable stationary. (And loads of other beautiful lifestyle and homeware items too….)

Smythson has a great outlet store and as long as you like colour, you can sometimes pick up a bargain. It is well worth a look.

I think Tim Holtz is stocked by craft stores more than stationery stores- mostly found online. I’ve never seen any in a bricks and mortar store.

Do these stores also carry stamps? Clear silicon or wood is both fine. They all look so tempting, somehow I have to focus XD
