This got recommended to me and I can't help but click because of the cover picture. I am leaving Japan soon after having studied here for almost 2 years for a graduate institute in Tokyo. Of course, I am very sad about leaving. But I want to reunite with my family back home for a while. I will never forget that day I hopped a train to Kamakura, just to watch the sun dip below the horizon against the pinkish sky and stroll around for a few hours, aimlessly and not glued to my phone. This exact spot is popular, a lot of local tourists also come to enjoy the coastal scenery. I will come back someday in the future and fulfill my dream of living in Japan for quite a while, even though I am not ready yet now (I am still in my early to middle 20's haha, I will come back when I am in my late 20's). Maybe not Tokyo because I've had enough of it, but living in Kamakura sounds like a dream. 💞
As someone who has lived in Japan for a long while, with a very similar start to you (but 15ish years ago) - do it, you won't regret it. Just be very picky about your job, there are a lot of companies that take advantage of their employees in Japan, and there isn't a good outlet to fight it, nor is it an easy social structure TO fight or complain within. Just don't move to Japan when you're desperate for a job there, go when the opportunity is ripe :) That time will come!

Kamakura is one of the first places i visited in Japan. It was a breath of fresh air amidst my days in busy Tokyo. It was last october, the weather still very pleasant and warm. I had my first proper Ramen there, freshly made by a nice man who just pointed at his vending machine to choose the style. Went for Curry, no regrets. With this Ramen and the serene vibes of the coastal town of Kamakura i finally arrived in the land of the rising sun.
