Ray who stole little bunny and set the whole thing up, knowing full well he is about to traumatize his best friends for life be like: Ah yes, Emma is screaming in the field. The escape plan has started.

The way the animation fits in with the lyrics: "Let's escape this cage *together*" and then her face when she realizes that's not happening, it'a absolutely superb. And when it goes back and instead of giving her a comfort hug it's a hug for goodbye, and he's in the clothes he left it, just amazing. The adults in these shows make fun of other teams that incurr penalties because of losing the first challenge, and then act righteous and merciful when they rescue that team's items from the oven... Playing around with their chances at the competition! Essentially 'I might as well give you a fighting shot. Oh look at me, so nice.' I can't imagine how they'd handle a situation like this. Freaking anarchy. These kids on the other hand, in cooking shows, even sometimes help other kids finish their dishes when their's is done and run things over to them. They're kind and helpful to one another, and their atmosphere is friendly, where you can ask someone to turn off your pan while you're grabbing something without seeming demanding or rude, unlike the more cold, competitive air most adults/adult teams in cooking and baking shows bring. When thrown into the situation they'd definitely realize that they need one another and wouldn't abandon each other. There'd definitely be Rays but at the end, if they found out one by one, of the day they'd cooperate instead of fight and ruin the opportunities others have to escape with unorganized, botched attempts.
When Norman hugs Emma and Emma felt the sigh of relief and then when she saw the demon is right besides Norman she knows that Norman is going to be taken away that was really sad 😢. And in the ending the trio in the first pic is shown that they are enjoying their lives, the 2nd one is "shit about to go down" with Norman and the depressing part of the trio, the 3rd one is they need to keep moving forward. It really aches my heart 😭😭

This animatic is AMAZING! I especially loved 1:11 because I feel like that scene has a lot of symbolism regarding Norman’s character. There, we see pictures of Emma’s family flashing behind her, as Emma collapses to the ground covering her ears, as if she’s in distress. She’s scared for the sake of her family. But within all that catastrophe, a hand reaches out to help her and comfort her, to take her out of that distress. That hand is Norman. Norman is also there for Emma, comforting her, making her want to smile. He gives Emma a hug. Even tho he is experiencing the same distress as Emma, he stays calm, and instead of crying out, he reaches out to comfort others, to comfort Emma. As Norman hugs Emma, he smiles giving her reassurance she is not alone. That Norman and Ray and there to help her in this distress. But then, it transitions to Norman in his shipping clothes with a demon behind him. If you can see, Norman is no longer smiling. This time, he’s genuinely scared himself. He is showing his fear of his life. For me, it looks like he was hugging Emma, as if he was asking for help. A side he always wants to hide from others. Emma is the only one who can see that side tho. This could be a reference to that one time during Norman’s shipment where Enma says “No way! I’ll respect any other wish besides that, especially because I know deep down I know you don’t want to go!” That, or he was shielding Emma from the demon. Sacrificing his own life for her and her wish to let her family escape safely. Either way, Norman is best boi 🤧
I agree, that scene was so emotional. And Norman deserves respect for remaining so level-headed and selfless while he himself was in the most danger. He did what he could with his remaining time at the house to help his family escape, and because of his plan, they did. He really is amazing.
I'll always say ray is my fav character, but Norman is really amazing. Smart, nice and just overall a perfect character. i can tell the animation studio really worked hard the norman personality and character all together.

It was all very Norman-like. Edit: And Ray's amazing too. He's willing to selflessly do whatever he can for his family. I got chills. The way you cleverly animated parts in the earlier episodes to correspond with the later parts of the anime was amazing. Each transition, especially at 1:50, 2:04, and 1:18 really stood out. It didn’t feel awkward at all. Every part of the animation felt essential. Edit: Also, great song choice. It fits very well.
