[Reading the Manga] I'm reading the manga and I'm done with the first arc and I almost cried when Mama realized and admitted all the things she did wrong and actually wished them the best. She basically gave up hope when she looked out into the abyss and decided that there are no other options other than being eaten or becoming a Mama. She was even more depressed when her good friend died too, and she didn't want that to happen to her, so she had to go with the latter which was the more hopeful option, but still morbid. That redemption phase was amazing for Mama.

the thing is isabella always loved the children and never faked a second of it, she just did the only thing she could and she had no choice, all she could do was try her best to make the childrens life full of nothing but happiness and was happy when they successfully escaped!
