Thank you for the IRs, looking forward to trying them out! I had downloaded the free Oval cab IRs and loved them, bought the full pack and it's great - they replaced my Celestion IRs and are a great match for my Vox AC30 through a dummy load, especially of course the Blue. I suspect the other side would work amazingly well with a Marshall amp for a slightly more BB-like tone. Keep up the great work Michael!
I have question the irs for the dumble amp can i use it with my HeadRush gigboard? Yer amp dumble build sounds awesome amazing rock on dude best ive heard ❤
I'm curious how you would characterize what's different about this Dumble you've built, compared to other amps you've played: i.e. what do you notice different as you play? And related to that, what did you notice is different from other amps in the circuitry, as you delved deep into the amp garage rabbit hole -- and can you see a relation in the difference in the circuit to the difference in the playing experience? Thanks for posting this and the great first-hand look at such an amazing amp!
I’d love to do this build actually. I am curious what the relative cost was to do it. I’ve never built an amp but I’m somewhat tech savvy and don’t own any dumble style amps. They are so cost prohibitive for me I was thinking this would be a good way into that world
I’m not sure of the exact cost but I’d guess around 1k to 1200…. You can get a ball park by thinking of the bigger expenses - Transformers, Chassis, Tubes. Those 3 things might be roughly around $700 but can vary a good bit. Next larger expenses are large caps, pots/knobs, tube sockets, jacks. The small parts can vary depending on how you approach it - NOS, high end modern parts, standard stuff, etc..
Absolutely loved watching your Dumble Amp build. Some of the neatest wiring layout I've ever seen. Have you considered buying an Universal Audio OX-Amp Top Box, so you can really crank your amp to find it's sweet spot, without blowing your ears out?
124 is interesting. Everybody seems to build 183 or of course 102, both of which use 220&150k plate resistors (and corresponding cath. res.) 124 uses 100k & 1.5k thru out. I have 3 amps I use, all the same except 1 is 50w, 2 are 20w. I have reworked them a lot incorperating much of Dumbles ideas. They use 100k/1.8k. The 124 sounds scarey close to mine. I think I like yours over most 102's & 183's I've heard.
Thanks! I’m not as familiar with the sounds from the #183 but mine has proven to be quite the tool for recording. I was kind of afraid it would be a 1 trick pony but it gives me lots of variety once you figure it out. I need to do a follow video when I have the time!
I’ve got videos of my 5e3 build here on the channel. Not the Dumble version though. I have bumped up the filtering ala Dumble but actually went back down a touch… took some of the tweed out of it for me
Ciao - i trasformatori che hai usato sono degli Hammond ? devo sostituire sul mio Ceriatone OTS 50 il power trasformer con Hammond che modello può essere compatibile? Grazie
Sounds great! That's quite an impressive accomplishment 👍
The IR is awesome by the way! Thank you!!!
The amp sounds awesome and I'm impressed it fired up without issue. Great job on a tough build.

that’s not terrible for a ballpark! I think that’s going to be my window in. I appreciate the response!

Nice job! Transformers look pretty big.
Beautiful! Working on my 124 clone now. How did you set the drive and PI balance trim pots?
Tried a few different things recommended on TAG. The drive one was more by ear in the end
Yup, Now you gotto tweak a Dumble cab too. 👽🎸🏁🏁🏁
Just curious what guitar you consider your #1? I think you sound great with that Les Paul in your hands.
Hard to say my Les Paul is definitely one of my favorites. If I had a good 335 that would be my go to. Maybe one day!
Knows his way around a T style also good stuff !!!

Michael can u build a smaller model of a dumble amp like a 5e3 1x12 combo

Hi Mate, what output transformer and choke have you used for this amp.
I have a v2 timmy , do I also need a light speed ? Thk u
For me I end up using them in a similar way but I think the Timmy is a bit more versatile because of how the eq works
Ok , thank u very much .
Stop turning the amp down. Turn it up with no pedals. Have you ever heard Robben play live. It is loud and proud. That is where they shine.
Is this a kit I can buy
No sir. Be sure to watch my other video about the process
is this amp 100 watts? that's what I find on google. I thought it was 15
Very much 100. Why did you think it was 15?
a lot of those early fender amps were around there. I just assumed it would be based on those. 100 is a lot.@@MichaelWWestbrook
