Mazda could seriously win this segment if they release a more hardcore version of this for under $40k, with a manual and upgrades to exhaust, brakes, and suspension. I would like a bigger turbo for more of a 300/300 power curve instead of 250/320. I hope the aftermarket has some good offerings for enthusiasts, because this car is just so sexy compared to competitors. Sidenote: I'd rather have 30 or 60fps youtube videos than any resolution @ 24fps. Most people aren't watching on 4k devices, but are watching on 60Hz displays ;) Cheers!

Very nice review. Especially since the turbo has been awaited since the Mazda3's current generation debut in 2019, it should be mentioned that the power ratings you stated were for regular gas. Specifically: Mazda's 2.5-liter turbocharged I4 makes 250 horsepower and 320 pound-feet -- if you run premium fuel, anyway. Stick with 87-octane gas and the power drops to 227 hp and 310 lb-ft.
I bought a CX-30 turbo premium plus.I actually have 93 and 94 octane and just filled it up with what I belive is its first premium tank and took it on the HWy and the vehicle is very fast.It can hit triple digit speeds very easily.I just sold a 2020 AWD stinger GT 3.3TT for a lot more then i paid for it.I bought the CX-30 outright and pocketed thousands.I have 2k in mods and with an exhaust and bigger better performance tires it is easily a low to mid 5 second to 60 car.My stinger had 370 lbs of torque in a 4200 lb car and this has 320 lbs of torque in a 3500 lb car--so its torque to weight ratio is great.I have driven a Type R civic and golf R and they may be slightly faster then this--but you literally have to floor those to get any speed because they do not develop the down low torque--you can definetly take many cars off the line and in midrange with this vehicle.Someone in a forum posted a list of cars this was faster then and it shamed a lot of sport coupes like Civi SI's--Subarus cvts--toyota 86--even base model X1 and Q3--which were 10k more.In fact at 35k and under I believe only the veloster n is faster then this.It is also faster then a Golf GTI--ruclips.net/video/CxDduCfB3Fk/видео.html

Really scratches easily, I guess. 3) Did you look at the non-premium? I don't do leather and was curious about what you give up. 4) You seemed to be saying the console wasn't ideal in a number of respects - wonder if 2022 will fix these? 5) Is the dipstick under the engine cover? Interesting.
1) The sedan does have thick-ish pillars, but for a modern car, the sedan’s outward visibility is pretty good. 2) The gloss black is notorious for being scratch prone. If you buy one of these, I’d get the piano black trim covered in PPF right away. 3) The base Turbo comes with leatherette, which would be fine except the material isn’t perforated. Thus, the seats don’t “breathe” well and your legs and keester are covered in sweat even during short trips on mild days. For me, that makes the Premium Plus (which has perforated leather) a must. 4) Personally I don’t find the console problematic at all. I doubt any/many changes will be made for 2022. 5) The dipstick is just to the left of the oil fill cap - the other hole that’s in the engine cover. Hope this helps!
