Perfect painting tutorial for miniatures, especially 'Zombicide'. Genuinely excited to paint now I've seen Sorastro's guide. Only 140+ to go... You've certainly spring boarded my journey in the right direction! Cheers for such a great set of videos dude!
Dude, you have two of the BEST videos on here. For someone just getting started like myself, it's very nice to see a straightforward technique that is clearly explained and yields great results. Thanks for sharing!!
please make more zombicide videos, the 2 you have made are my favourite tutorials on youtube and I want to see what you can do with the season 3 stuff and characters.
@@Sorastro Some of us are still waiting for your ZombieArt hahaha, could you please paint some miniatures of the second edition Zombicide? Zombies or survivors, just wanna see your stuff (and please, in the 4:21 min, what colour did you use to paint the jeans of the fatty?? In my opinion the best ones by far)
I just watched your first zombie painting guide video, and I have to say, it was one of the best that I have seen, ever. Your tutorials are great. You go step by step, explaining every step in great detail. I recently picked up Mantic Games' Deadzone, with the zombie expansion, Contagion. I'm going to be using your painting method to paint all of my Deadzone miniatures, undead and otherwise! Thanks, and keep up the great work!
Thank you Ron! I'm currently working hard on a couple more tutorials; My next video will actually be for an entirely different game, but I DO still plan to cover some of the survivors. There's just so much I'd like to do, but time is so limited!
Awesome painting. What really helps me is that I also use the citadel paints so these vids are a great start point to see which colours I might want to use. Would love to see which paints you use for the survivors now!
Hi, just wanted to say thanks for your videos!, i follow ALOT of painting videos on youtube, and yours is extremely well put together!, the music, the added sound, the transitions. i know how long this takes in post, but know, some of us really appreciates it! Agian, thanks for your high quality videos!
Wow, great videos! Very professionally done, sir! Your voice is clear throughout. You stick to your subject without diverging into "babble" like many other video-makers. You are obviously prepared with all necessary tools and supplies when you start. You explain each step without a lot of lapses. I just can't compliment your video and you enough! And I should say that I like your technique for painting although I don't know if all your Citadel products are available here in America, I will endeavor to follow your steps as closely as I can with some substitution of available materials. I "like" and I subscribe as I will be watching your other videos and refer to your site when I paint my minis.
Thank you for all the positive feedback! I wouldn't worry too much about using the exact same colors; I tend to use Citadel out of habit and convenience as I have a store nearby that sells them (although I'm not a fan of Games Workshop these days), but I'm sure the other major paint ranges (Vallejo, Reaper etc.) would be just as good. I would definitely try and get hold of Army Painter's Quickshade though as it's such an effective time saver! Good luck with those zombies :)
+Sorastro's Painting I'd love to see more of this series. Seekers, Skinners, Beserkers and Survivors. These are by far the best looking toxics that I've seen and I'd really like to see your solution for the other types sometime. Keep up the good painting work and the well crafted tutorial videos. : )
Thanks again John! I would love to do more zombie videos I'm just so short on time.. I think the next zombie-themed minis I paint will be Zombicide: Black Plague :)
Very well done. I like the addition of the nurgle rot. The Army painter suggestion for toxics were underwhelming for me. This really did it. Thank you.
Thank you so much! This is the best tutorial series I've found for zombiecide so far! Please can you do another tutorial for berserkers and seekers please?
Awesome job! It's been years since I painted minis, and my citadel paints are all dried up now. With the purchase of Zombicide: Black Plague, I'm really looking forward to getting back into the hobby. Your videos are a HUGE inspiration, as I love the very clean matte look of your finished zombies! I'm very much hoping to see some further videos from you when Black Plague comes out. At the least, I am definitely going to use your technique in these 2 videos. Thanks again for the inspiration! Subscribed!
I enjoy your videos every time I watch them. I´m new at Zombicide and it would be nice to see some more Zombicide (modern) painting guides, for exaple some undead dogs or how to make the berserkes a little bit more popping out of the horde.
Simply Amazing! You have a good speaking voice and simple narrative in showing us how seemingly easy it to achieve wonderful effects on these minifgiures. Am very tempted to have a try. Thank you Sir :)
Never thought about using Waywatcher Green Glaze(FYI Citadel has discontinued this product because of their new line of Contrast paints) prior the base color! NICE idea!!! Nurgle's Rot is a excellent technical paint and really gives off a nasty effect. I also have found that Vallejo's Game Effects Dried Blood (72.133) and Vomit (72.134) can make a large impact on a model like this as well. Citadels Blood for the Blood God is also an excellent effect paint. Lastly it would be absent minded of me not to mention Vallejo's Environment effects paint as well, specially Slimy Grime Dark (73.822) and Slimy Grime Light (73.823). The environment paints are more geared to scale model makers but can offer up fantastic effects as well when used correctly. LOVE the videos!
Amazing video once again. I've been waiting for this one for a while but it was well worth the wait ! Congratulations. I hope there will be more of them.
An Amazing guide. Again! Looking forward to more. ;) Would love to see a "over all" regarding the heroes. Most regarding how you handle different skincolors and hair.
Sorastro Just went out and bought Nurgle's Rot, Blood for the Blood God and Waywatcher Green just for this! I love how easy you made this. I always tend to spend too much time on a mini, shading and highlighting, while it can be done so much faster.
Nice one! For anyone with a busy life (job, kids etc.) we need to use what time-saving techniques we can.. the survivors may need a little more individual love though :)
I liked the first one, but I loved this one. I can't really express how much I've liked your guides, I go totally fanboy over them, not only do you explain it really well, the presentation is also great. Not only do I think 'wow, the minis look great' when I watch it, I also think 'I'm totally able to pull this off - my minis are also going to look this great!'. I'd love to see more of these, I'm really curious to see how you do the survivors, and we got season 3 next year with new zombie types . . . :) If I can offer a suggestion, it would be nice to see the shopping list at the start at the video or in the description, for us fools that think we can remember it, go to the store to shop and then have to start downloading the video when we couldn't remember it after all.
Youre awesome bro! Make it so easy and no other tutorial videos are quite as helpful. That being said, I would like to request that you make a video on painting survivors. They seem much more daunting of a task and I would love your insights.
Thank you Joe! Glad you found the video helpful :) I'd love to do some survivors; I just have so much on at the moment it might be a while before I get round to it.
Thanks Osqar :) I've got some survivors primed and ready.. just need to get through a couple of busy weeks at work then I can have a proper go at them :)
The two videos you have for the base game of Zombicide (not black plaque) are amazing, I will be painting my zombies like this for sure but do you have any content on how to paint the survivors too
Such a fantastic and well thought out video.. I recently pledged in for the S3 kickstarter and I'm looking at picking up, if I can find them, the S1 and S2 boxes and both of your videos are just fueling my hype for all that is Zombicide. Thank you for what you've put out so far and, as a new subscriber, I can not wait for the next installment of your Zombie Painting Guide. (Also looking forward to seeing some Survivors painted :P )
Very inspirational and excellently produced videos - thank you so much! With the release of the dark souls board game looming, I'm looking to make my first foray into miniature painting for a very long time - your content is going to help me a lot on that journey. If you can get your hands on it, it would be great to see you paint a boss or two from that set. With it being such a successful Kickstarter campaign, I believe many others would be interested in this too :)
I can't believe I've sat through another one of your bloody tutorials Sorastro! However, they are rather splendid particularly the music and careful editing. I want to see MACRO close-ups in future please especially when you're painting the eyes and adding blood. See you later.
Make more videos, please! Your videos are the best on RUclips! I'm from Brazil and have just started researching about this kind of paintings. And your video is the most descriptive and professional I found. You could make a video about tips for beginners, what do you think? Sorry for any mistakes in my English: P Thank you and congratulations for the excellent work!
Thank you very much! I'm glad you have found my videos helpful. I'm currently working on a music project at the moment so it might be a while before my next painting tutorial, but I'd be happy to include more tips for beginners when I do. (Your English is great by the way - a lot better than my Portuguese!)
I really do love the way you present your video. I work at a post, so I know a bit, and this is just awesome. You need to do more videos. Also, I saw a few new tips I didn't used before. Using the waywatcher green glaze for the toxic zombies for example is a neat little touch there. Btw, what song did you use at around 6:20? Love the sound. This is perfect for my Zombicide playlist while playing with friends. Again, respect for your work man.
Thank you Marc! I do really appreciate the feedback. I composed all of the music myself; I've actually just launched a new channel just for my music - which is currently high-fantasy orchestral stuff, but you can see it here: ruclips.net/user/SorastrosMusic. Maybe I should add a zombie-music section!?
The fantasy channel sounds good, but a Zombie channel would be awesome. You got talent there as well. Not too much, not overloaded but really creepy. Thumbs up.
I started working on my Toxic City Mall Zombie batch just now, unfortunatly the Green Glaze is not for purchase here. (Discontinued I think) I tried using a Citadel Technical paint for a replacement. "Tesseract Glow" I think it does give the Toxic zombie a more radio-active look. But I'm still doubting since I did not use this on my Toxic Crowd box set. (Just necrotic flesh from Army Painter.)
Thank you for all your incredibly detailed videos. Would it be possible to share/show your table setup in more detail? Such as additional lighting, type of palette, how thin should paint really be (something along those lines)
Thank you Jude! I might address the question of paint thinning along with other topics in a FAQ video I'm thinking of making in the near future. I'd be happy to show my painting room etc. I'll most likely do a more extended "behind the scenes" video once I've covered at least the base set of Imperial Assault. I can then share what equipment I use etc in a bit more detail for those who may be interested :)
Good morning @Soroastro's Painting! How are you today? I was wondering if you'll ever make a tutorial about base tufting and/or painting for a urban environment. Thanks for the nice video as always!
+Sulfuria Zumma Hi Sulfuria! I'll happily cover whatever basing is appropriate for the miniatures I'm painting, but don't currently have plans to produce discrete tutorials for the subject. For adding tufts however you might like to check out my AT-ST turorial: ruclips.net/video/VAtgBLy5VEA/видео.html :)
Sorastro's Painting I missed that video, my bad! :) I would love to add tufts to my minis, but I am scared that they'll be ruined playing, not all my friends are as meticulous as I am :D. If I may ask another question, do you play zombicide or you just love to paint those nice miniatures?
hey sorastro, when if at all will you be doing a berserker tutorial, your other two videos have helped me so much and i dont think i would have even attempted painting my sets if it wasnt for them!
Hi Kevin - I'm really happy to hear that my videos have helped give you the confidence to get painting your zombies! I am half way through shooting a video covering the berserkers actually.. It just takes a while as I have to squeeze it in-between job, kids etc.. but I can't wait to get it done so I can begin covering the survivors :)
Hello Sorastro, I love your videos and they gave me the taste of figurine painting. I started with Imperial Assault and I just bought zombicide season 1. Could you make us tutorials for the survivors stp because frankly your videos are the best I found on the internet. Still sorry for my message is Google that translates French / English. Thank you for your work.
Hi Cryil! Thanks for the kind comment! I'm afraid I won't be able to make tutorials for the survivors because I painted them so long ago already.. sorry! :)
Yep me again. i love the bright greens have you played with any other of the Glazes zombies. i have never used Glazes but i think i will try a few when i get the rest of my order.
So happy you are back.. Just ordered zombie and most of the supplies you suggested... Do you plan on doing any other board game painting tutorials? May I suggest Mansions of Madness or Descent :)
Thank you! There's so much I'd like to do.. I have a large collection of Descent 2nd Ed. figures desperate for a paint, and I've also started prepping the Battlelore 2nd Ed figures too. So much to do but so little time!
I got some of my Minis for Descent 2nd Ed. Primed and even did a great paint job one one but failed to let the paint cure before sealing and it turned into a horrible frosted mess. Newbie lesson learned watch humidity and also give things time to cure.
These videos are excellent; your commentary is clear and the quality is superb. Best of all, I'm producing some cool looking creeps. Is there any way you could also put up a list of the Citadel pots you use in the video? I need a shopping list and I'm going through and writing down each one as it goes, but it's a bit of a hassle as I'm sure many would benefit. thanks much.
Thank you Sarah! I've added a complete (at least I don't think I've missed any!) list of the Citadel paints I used for the zombies in this tutorial at the bottom of the video description. Good luck with the rest of your creeps :)
Very very very well done sir. Nice painting, nice tutorials, nice color schemes, nice editing, nice music and nice references (noticed a few subtle private jokes here and there and a few editing techniques that reminded me some classic movies). Let's face it: you nailed it big time (I mean it). My only regret is that there are so many beautiful colors used (particularly in the toxic video showcase when you browse your zombies collection at the beginning) and there are few chances that I can reproduce them because I don't know their commercial names (I know you say that you are using light base colors from citadelle and I know you named a few of them here and there but still, it remains vague if not for those that you were actually painting live). For instance, what are the various colors you used for all the suits in both videos (black, brown, grey, dark blueish), denim jeans (all shades of blue and grey), some beautiful mauve t-shirts out there and so on...? It'll be the ultimate videos ever if only you name all of the colors used for the clothes (inside the videos or even list them here in youtube). As it is, it's a very very nice showcase but I still feel that, in the end, you are "selling" a dream as what I see is probably not what I'll get anyway. So please please please, take that little extra time to give your tutorials the power of WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) that everyone is looking for by just naming your overall color palette for the clothes. Easy and quick for you, hugely effective for us. It'll be so worth it. Thank you. PS: did I say how much your videos are brilliant?
Thank you for such a detailed and complimentary response to the videos! You raise an interesting and valid point when you ask about which precise paints I used for my base colors. I guess when I made the first video I didn't anticipate just how closely some viewers would wish to follow the guide, and that it was really the process that I wanted to focus on rather than dictating which specific paints ought to be used. You are not the only viewer to have asked me for specific names of paints however, and I will of course do my best to list those that I can, although I would also encourage experimentation; If you were to look at my entire collection you would see that I tried quite a wide range of tones out in the name of experimentation and variety - some to better effect than others! For the video I just picked a few safe colors that I felt worked pretty well, but never intended them to be taken as definitive shades that must be used in order to produce the best result. One thing I did when picking colors that you might also like to try was to search for "suits" say, or "dress" online and copy some of the more typical color combinations that came up (hence I've got lots of zombies with dark suits and white shirts!) Before I list some of the base colors I used, beware that the paints I used for episode 1 were from the older Citadel range that has since been replaced; I'll therefore give the names of the equivalent paints from the current range (which should give you a near-identical result). The base colors for the five zombies in episode 1 that you can see in the final shot from left to right (also used as the title image) we have: -Zombies 1 + 2: Macragge Blue for the suits, Ceramite White (or White Scar) white for the shirt. -Zombie 3: Caledor Sky for the jeans, Averland Sunset for the shirt, Moot Green for the hair. -Zombie 4: Baneblade Brown for the suite, Lothern Blue for the shirt. -Zombie 5: Deamonette Hide for the shorts with Moot Green for the trim, white shirt and trainers. -Zombie 6: Jokaero Orange for the jumpsuit. (Also, for all of the non-runners I used Stormvermin Fur for their shoes) I hope this is helpful. As for the other zombies that appear incidentally throughout the video, I don't think I could name all the color combinations used even if I wanted to as I'm unlikely to remember! I would hope however that once you've painted your first 5-10 zombies or so, you have the confidence to try out some colors of your own - therein lies half the fun after all! Happy painting!
Sorastro It is so helpful, thank you very much. You made my day sir. In fact, you made the whole month! You are right when you say that we must experiment on our own. Still, I first want to try to reproduce your work as it is in order to have something to compare to. when I feel I got the technique right, I will eventually become creative my own way. It's not even an option as there are too many minis not to experiment eventually. Right now, I try to gather the tools you mentioned but here in central Europe, it's not that easy to achieve (for instance, the Testors varnish is not available on the old continent). Different tools + different colors are too many differences to be worth the trouble. But with the right colors (at least the basics, thank you for that) and the Quickshade trick, I'm confident again. Thank you very much and keep it coming as your videos are priceless. Regards.
Another great video Sorastro. I just picked up my quickshade and my white tac. I really like all the little tips and attention to detail. Seeing how you like doing miniatures from CMON, have you done any Rum and Bones miniatures? I plan on painting all 6 of my zombicide and black plague sets and my Rum and Bones sets in the fashion you have here. Very good stuff. Thanks for sharing.
+Captain Amazing Thank you Captain Amazing! I don't yet have Rum and Bones but love the minis from that game; I would think the Quickshade approach would work well for the "minion" pirates :)
You should do one for the season 3 skinner zombies. Would like to see your ideal for their skin tone as it is suppose to be more decayed than the season 1 zombies. You do amazing work, When mine are done will post a link would like you opinion of them. I am not playing a game of zombicide till all zombies are painted. ( was a way to be motivated to get then all done )
Hi! Things are a little crazy at work for me at the moment, and I'd really like to push out a final Season 2 zombie video first too so it's going to be a while I'm afraid :/ (I did actually shoot all the footage for a survivor video over the summer but I wasn't happy with it for various reasons so am going to start from scratch as I simply won't put anything out that I'm not at least 98% happy with.) Sorry I can't be any more specific about an ETA!
Hello! First of all, you work is awesome! My girlfriend and me are going to start painting zombies soon :) You started painting Zombicide 2013, so it's some years ago and recently you're painting Black Plague. I'd like to know, what about the charakters of season 1 and 2 and maybe the VIP Zombies? Are they already done? Or can you do the tutorials for these figures, too? :) Greetings and looking forward to see more Zombistuff from you!
Hi Davi! It was so long ago I honestly can't remember what I used for the tongue, but most shades of pink would be OK I'd imagine. I'm producing the next Black Plague video next week, and the rest will continue to come out every month or so until I've completed at least the core set :)
I found your Flickr page and I was wondering if you could post your survivors from Toxic City mall and Prison outbreak. Also, did you do anything extra for the berserker zombies to make them stand out?
Hi Kyle! I'm afraid I don't think I ever got round to painting the TCM survivors. For the beserker zombies I just gave them prison uniforms and found that was enough :)
LOVE YOUR VIDEOS! your zombies look amazing and you have inspired me to paint mine and I actually think I can do it after seeing your videos. just wondering though if you are going to do a survivor's video? if not would you use necrotic flesh primer on them too? would you use the same quick shade? would you have different flesh color ?
Josh Leong Thank you Josh! I'd like to do some survivor videos; I just have so many other projects to get through at the moment. I wouldn't use the necrotic flesh or quickshade on them though; For a simple approach to painting the survivor's skin you could try Kislev Flesh followed by a Reikland Fleshade wash and then highlight with the Kislev Flesh again (as I did for my Imperial Officers in Episode 6 of the Star Wars series.) Good luck!
Sorastro's Painting I am well underway with painting my base set but I am having an issue with the undercoat and the necrotic flesh... for some reason the undercoat doesn't come out as smooth as yours. It's kind of sandy and rough to touch? am I doing something wrong ?
Hi Josh. Sorry to hear you're having an issue with the primer. Whilst I've never had a problem with the Necrotic Flesh, I did have the exact issue you describe with a can of their white primer. I think we can assume that it's not user error but some inconsistency with the product. I still painted over the primer though and you can't really tell that the texture is slightly rough unless you look really really close. But I have since switched to using Citadel's white primer instead.
Your tutorials are absolutely fabulous, both very entertaining and inspiring! The quality of the image and sound's just perfect. You've motivated me to try painting my Last Night On Earth and Doom minis! Quick question, what do you think of doing the highlights before applying the shade? I thought I'd try that, because I'm afraid to mess up and highlight too much... And do you know if Army Painter's quickshade washes are the same as their quickshades? It seems to me that the washes are just diluted versions, but I'm not sure.
Thank you Monsieur! I think it's not a bad idea to highlight after the shade as a general rule to keep things vibrant, but if you do go too far there's nothing wrong with toning things down with additional shade (or a glaze). Regarding the washes - no they are completely different from the Quickshades (you'll be able to see the difference between them in this video: ruclips.net/video/LMOTmOchKyQ/видео.html) :)
Oh, I didn't see your reply... Thanks a lot! The quickshade's looks awesome! Too bad they don't sell it in smaller quantities... So far, I've been using Army Painter's strong tone quickshade, and the result is quite nice, but I may try the Citadel shades someday! Thanks again for your useful pieces of advice, and thank you for making me understand that I could do it too! :)
Hi, there is no waywatcher green in stores. Which one would you use now? Would you use a Warp lighning contrast like for example? Hexwraith flame tecnichal? Thanks
Your tutorials are the best of the best. I love the final results. But I´m a little concerned to use the Quickshade over the survivors, as I don´t want they to look so dark and dirty as the zombies. What can be done about it? Thanks a lot!
Walter Andrade Thank you Walter! You're absolutely right; I wouldn't use the Quickshade on the survivors (except for the zombivor versions). I just use "traditional" methods of shading and highlighting to keep the colors nice and bright :)
Sorastro's Painting Thanks for the reply! I just started to paint my minis based on your tutorial, I never did it before. Can we get a nice tutorial for the survivors? I´m really afraid I can destroy them :D

Thank you Daniel. It's nice to feel appreciated :)
I used this method to paint my Gremlins from the Malifaux range. They have come out really nicely. Thank you.
+Elliot Joyce a Thank you Elliot! I'm happy your gremlins came out well :) I love the Malifaux minis! One day...

Unbelievably easily-explained!
Looking forward for more of your videos..
Best regards!
Thank you sir - glad you found it easy to follow :)
Many thanks for your two classic Zombicide tutorials.
I've never painted minifigures before, and you helped me a lot to do it on my game. =)
+Sebastian Jörback Thanks Sebastian! I'm happy to hear my videos helped you get your zombies painted :)
Amazing job on these toxic zombies. I love the contrast and attention to detail.
Thanks John!
I cant wait.
:)
Very enjoyable series I didn't think the tinting would be very worthwhile but while subtle it did provide interest.
As usual a very effective and nicely led tutorial. Thank you!
Thank you :)
Very well done. I like the addition of the nurgle rot. The Army painter suggestion for toxics were underwhelming for me. This really did it. Thank you.
Thank you Marc! You're most welcome :)
Make more videos!!! Your style and delivery are great! Wonderful learning tool. Well produced videos, mate!
Thank you sir!
Great tutorial. As the last one :D. Makes me want to start painting my toxic zombies now :D.
Thanks Catalin :)
Just wanted to say cheers on producing these brilliant videos! Even the missus can follow them!
Lol thanks Alan!
Thank you and truly appreciate for your videos well put. Clear and straightforward~
Thank you! I do try to keep them clear and simple to follow so glad you like them :)
awwww man!! another set of amazingly painted miniatures, awesome
Thanks again :)
Thank you so much! This is the best tutorial series I've found for zombiecide so far!
Please can you do another tutorial for berserkers and seekers please?
+Dani Hammer Thank you Dani! I'm very limited on time at the moment so not sure if or when I'll be able to cover them but I'll see what I can do :)
Fantastic video! Well produced and a true pleasure to watch. Thanks so much.
Thank you Curtis; very glad you enjoyed it.
Thanks so much Mark, hopefully you will do the same with Berserker Zombies :)
Both tutorials are amazing and have inspired me to gear up in order to paint my Zombiecide figures. Good job!
Thank you sir!
Subscribed!
Thank you Sir! It feels like a long time ago when I made this video but I'm happy to hear it's still spreading joy :)
I enjoy your videos every time I watch them. I´m new at Zombicide and it would be nice to see some more Zombicide (modern) painting guides, for exaple some undead dogs or how to make the berserkes a little bit more popping out of the horde.
Fantastic work there! And even more fantastic work in teaching of how to do it.
Thank you!
Top notch video, thanks for recording it.
Amazing job. You should make a video paiting the survivors now
adriano fraguas Thanks Adriano! I'm planning on doing some survivor videos later this year :)
Simply Amazing!
You have a good speaking voice and simple narrative in showing us how seemingly easy it to achieve wonderful effects on these minifgiures.
Am very tempted to have a try.
Thank you Sir :)
Adam Austin Thanks a lot for the nice comment Adam! I'm glad find the guide easy to follow :)
Really amazing job *-* I never painted a mini before, but I would like to try now! Just amazing work, really!
Thank you very much Marielle!
Thanks Reug. I really appreciate the positive feedback. More content will follow :)
Sorastro Take your time. I still have a lot of standard zombies to finish :P
An Amazing guide. Again! Looking forward to more. ;)
Would love to see a "over all" regarding the heroes. Most regarding how you handle different skincolors and hair.
Thanks Johan. I may well tackle a couple of survivors for my next video - I've got a box of the Season 2 promos screaming at me to paint them :)
Fantastic tutorials! Looking forward to the next one.
LOL @ 8:50 "in a painful manner" xD
Thank you Raymond :)
I'd love to see more of these, I'm really curious to see how you do the survivors, and we got season 3 next year with new zombie types . . . :)
If I can offer a suggestion, it would be nice to see the shopping list at the start at the video or in the description, for us fools that think we can remember it, go to the store to shop and then have to start downloading the video when we couldn't remember it after all.
Thank you for all your comments! Good idea RE the shopping list; I've now included it in the description below each video :)
Great, thanks!
Very nice again! Very good work! Thanks so much for your effort!
Thank you sir!
Cant wait to see you paint the heroes and the season 3 stuff amazing work
Thanks Steve :)
awesome tutorial dude... gonna help me with my puppetswar zombie corps. thanx a ton for the video!
+Jugger G You're welcome Jugger! Thanks for the comment :)
I really love your videos! Keep them coming for the other expansions and seasons!
Thank you Eddie - I will keep them coming :)
Right on man, keep fighting the good fight!
great video been looking for a way to paint my zombies and this might be the way i go easy and fast, but looks ace.
Thanks - go for it!
Love your videos, please do the berserkers also to give us newbies some ideas to start with :)
Thanks Magnus. I could do a short video perhaps just going over the colors I used for the beserkers..
Excellent video, I really enjoyed watching it. Hope you make another tutorial painting some survivors :-)
thanks for sharing your work!
Thanks Osqar :) I've got some survivors primed and ready.. just need to get through a couple of busy weeks at work then I can have a proper go at them :)
The two videos you have for the base game of Zombicide (not black plaque) are amazing, I will be painting my zombies like this for sure but do you have any content on how to paint the survivors too
Thank you Loki! I'm afraid I painted my survivor minis several years ago and didn't "tutorialize" them. Sorry! :)
Sorastro's Painting that is okay it was worth a try, I will use the same process but not with the blood and gore elements. Thank you for replying
No problem :)
Thanks for the comments; I don't think you'll have trouble finding the first two seasons.. Happy hunting!
Can't wait for the next set of zombie guides
Thank you Ryan :)
+Skabinflaff Thanks a lot Skabinflaff! I'll give some thought to Dark Souls but can't promise anything :)
Amazing video. Thank you for sharing this.
Another excellent video, May I ask where does one purchase zombie figures like the ones in your videos. TY
Thank you! These zombies are from CMON's game: Zombicide :)
Sorastro's Painting TY
Thanks for all the help on this! I was scratching my head over over how to paint these guys up, with no source material on the box
+Rob's Hobby's Thank you sir!
fantastic painting, thanks for sharing
+war gaming with Garry Thanks Gary! Seems like a long time ago when I made this video :)
forgot to say I'm working through your archives, really enjoying them.
I can't believe I've sat through another one of your bloody tutorials Sorastro! However, they are rather splendid particularly the music and careful editing. I want to see MACRO close-ups in future please especially when you're painting the eyes and adding blood. See you later.
Lol Lymer.. I've got something you can have a macro close up of when I see you tomorrow :)
Spectacular vídeo!!! Perfect!!
Thank you sir! :)
fantastic video!
(Discontinued I think)
I tried using a Citadel Technical paint for a replacement. "Tesseract Glow"
I think it does give the Toxic zombie a more radio-active look. But I'm still doubting since I did not use this on my Toxic Crowd box set. (Just necrotic flesh from Army Painter.)
I love ur videos Cant wait for more!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can then share what equipment I use etc in a bit more detail for those who may be interested :)
nice work. I have never been more wowed about zombies. lol
Lol - thanks!
Wooooooooow nice job dude !
Thanks Fernando! I'd glad you liked it :)
Awsome videos man keep up the great work
Z0MB13FRE4K weekly Thanks Z0MB!
Common, make the Season 3 painting! Your work is awesome!
+Edmar Gomes Thanks Edmar! I'd like to but there are just so many games I'd love to cover but have so little time :/
Good morning @Soroastro's Painting!
Sorastro's Painting
I missed that video, my bad! :)
I would love to add tufts to my minis, but I am scared that they'll be ruined playing, not all my friends are as meticulous as I am :D. If I may ask another question, do you play zombicide or you just love to paint those nice miniatures?
Hi again! Yes I do like to play Zombicide, although Black Plague has pretty much replaced the original Zombicide for me :)
+Sorastro's Painting I'm in love with Rue Morgue, 12 players for the win :D
+Sulfuria Zumma Ah.. Well you're fortunate to have 12 friends to play with :)
hey sorastro, when if at all will you be doing a berserker tutorial, your other two videos have helped me so much and i dont think i would have even attempted painting my sets if it wasnt for them!
Good production, please make more if you can :)
Thank you sir! I shall.. :)
Look amazing.
Would be great to see the dogz done.
One thing I did when picking colors that you might also like to try was to search for "suits" say, or "dress" online and copy some of the more typical color combinations that came up (hence I've got lots of zombies with dark suits and white shirts!)
Before I list some of the base colors I used, beware that the paints I used for episode 1 were from the older Citadel range that has since been replaced; I'll therefore give the names of the equivalent paints from the current range (which should give you a near-identical result).
The base colors for the five zombies in episode 1 that you can see in the final shot from left to right (also used as the title image) we have:
-Zombies 1 + 2: Macragge Blue for the suits, Ceramite White (or White Scar) white for the shirt.
(Also, for all of the non-runners I used Stormvermin Fur for their shoes)
I hope this is helpful.
Regards.
This, and you previous video, are inspiring. Thank you. Did you do any videos for the Berserker, Stalker or Crawler zombies?
Thank you! Not yet, but I'd like to (ideally before Black Plague comes out!)
Best tutorial.
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
Methos VonKing Thanks Methos! I'd love to tackle the skinners; Just need to find the time :)
awesome stuff. great production quality on the videos as well. any chance there's a survivor video in the works?
Thanks! Yes - I have begun filming the first of a series of individual survivor videos :)
Sorastro Great news!! Can't wait for these new videos! :) [...also can't wait for the Berserk tutorial...]
any chance there's an ETA on that first survivor video? looking forward to it.
Hi! Things are a little crazy at work for me at the moment, and I'd really like to push out a final Season 2 zombie video first too so it's going to be a while I'm afraid :/
(I did actually shoot all the footage for a survivor video over the summer but I wasn't happy with it for various reasons so am going to start from scratch as I simply won't put anything out that I'm not at least 98% happy with.)
Sorry I can't be any more specific about an ETA!
Hello!
First of all, you work is awesome! My girlfriend and me are going to start painting zombies soon :)
You started painting Zombicide 2013, so it's some years ago and recently you're painting Black Plague.
I'd like to know, what about the charakters of season 1 and 2 and maybe the VIP Zombies? Are they already done?
Or can you do the tutorials for these figures, too? :)
Greetings and looking forward to see more Zombistuff from you!
The mouth of the fatty is really great! How did you achieve that? Please make a video about such details.
Thanks Asaloy! For the mouth I just mixed quite light pink colour for the base layer and let the Quckshade do the rest :)
Thanks Asaloy! For the mouth I just mixed quite light pink colour for the base layer and let the Quckshade do the rest :)
Super awesome vids bro...subbed and liked Hard to believe anyone gave you a thumbs down
+DraklithsDen Vids Thanks DraklithsDen! Much appreciated :)
Hi!
I am very fan of your channel.
Which color did you use in the Abomination's tongue?
When will you finish the black plague ones?
Hi Sorastro! Is there any chance this painting guide will get more episodes?
Amaizing!
Thanks Aleksandar :)
this is exactly what i am waiting for :D
Thx btw :D
Hynek Jandus Thanks :)
Hello Sorastro! I have been wondering that what's the usage of the glass of water at 4:30 of this video?
Hi Summer! That's actually mineral turpentine which is needed to clean the Quickshade off the brushes :)
Sorastro's Painting Oh, thanks, I need to add it in my list :)
Don't forget - you only need it if you're using the Quickshade! :)
Sorastro's Painting What about the Citadel shade or Vallejo wash? I can only get them.
You can just use water to clean your brushes for Citadel or Vallejo :)
Hi! Pretty good painting job on those zombies! Question for you: do you put a last clear varnish coat after finissing the paint job to seal all that?
Thanks
Hi! Yes - any bright green like that, thinned with medium should do the trick. :)
+Sorastro's Painting would the "soft" version of quickshade will be better?
Hey, great video. Are you going to do a segment on prison outbreak?
Thank you Tracy! I have actually started filming the next episode which includes the prison guards and inmates; I'm just not sure when it'll be done.
Did you paint the prison outbreaks beserker zombies to? I would love to see a tutorial for them to.
Hi. I'm actually working on a 3rd zombie tutorial at the moment which will include the berserkers, after that I'll take a look at the survivors :)
Great job! beserker zombies will be red?)
Great video! Thank you so much!!! Can you advise any alternative to "Army Painters Necrotic flesh"? I have only Citadel paints.
+NoBigBoss Thank you! Yes - Citadel's Nurgling Green is a pretty close match :)
+Sorastro's Painting Thank you for your reply! Keep up the good work, you're awesome!!!!)))
No problem boss!
