    You named some of the reasons why these techniques aren't taught by doctors, and I'd add one more reason - teaching neuroplasticity is drug-free. There were two multidisciplinary pain clinics in my city 40 years ago that were working with psychology, anger repression, exercise to strengthen weak areas, helping people taper off the pain meds that no longer helped and they were addicted to, along with teaching meditation and coping skills. There was also a pill-pushing pain clinic. Guess which one still exists and gets funding? While the ones that looked at the mind and body fell by the wayside. A tragedy, in my opinion. There's no money for corporations or drug companies in teaching people to heal themselves.

    I just completed emotional awareness and expression therapy (EAET) training with dr. Schubiner and dr. Lumley. I was happy to see was Kent present as well. I cannot recommend their trainings highly enough, very much worth the time and relatively affordable investment. This work is going to transform allopathic medicine. Someday.

      Unless I’ve missed something, then TMS is only about pain that comes & goes. Mine is constant low back pain daily & nightly

      @@Helena-nu3cr Sometimes TMS pain can be constant, or there may be times that it shifts around, get's more or less intense, and you may not be noticing it. Also there are the other factors to look at, diagnostic and functional tests, bilateral or unilateral presentation, etc. A couple of things to do are start working with the material in Dr. Schubiner's book Unlearn Your Pain, or use others materials and see what happens, and consider getting checked out by one of the docs that do this because sometimes the white coat is necessary for us to start to trust that our physical body is really ok. It's a process for sure!

      @@PropheticCoachTheresa I would love to read Dr. Schubiner's book, but it's over $50 to have it sent to Canada and for some strange reason, isn't available in the library like Alan Gordon's The Way Out. It's affordable in the US, however and if I lived there I'd order it in a shot! Love the videos, they're very encouraging and helpful.

      I hear you! There are so many videos online, we can really piece together a good practice for ourselves that way too! I have a confession, I haven't even looked at his book yet, just because I've learned so much from other books and mostly from just practicing journaling and other awareness, including prayer, with myself!@@thedancingdivaofdaviestree2320

    Doctors If you don’t call it stress or anxiety or psychological related pain then you won’t get that response. First and foremost you must use your words appropriately to say your pain is very real…validation… you’re having a neurological response to a previous injury let’s consider a therapeutic intervention to change the neurology. it first be validation that the pain is neurological. And let’s try a Neurological therapy to remediate your very real pain in the response might be a lot better🤷‍♀️
    And possibly if you send them to the neurologist from the medical doctors office such as the general practitioner or even the rheumatologist or even the cardiologists or even the back pain specialist instead of straight to the psychiatrist it might even be a little more effective if the neurologist then explains how pain works and considers brain retraining a therapeutic intervention then that might be a better path for the patient and the doctors. Maybe
    But yes there does to be a need to be extensive medical testing and diagnostics to rule out anything for real and I mean extensive and yet so often that does not happen and they’re simply sent to the psychologist And they don’t do that because they’re like my pain is real and they feel gaslit and people suffer for years upon years upon years in silence processing all of the pain in the prison of their own minds

    This is one of the best discussions I have watched! Thank you for posting it. I just watched "This Might Hurt". Loved it. I have had chronic back pain off and on for 25 years. Read Sarno 20 years ago which helped a lot but still have flare ups. The brain is very stubborn sometimes.

    There is no connection to the mind and body. It's the same thing that can't be separated. The mindbody is one.
    This information and work is really great and makes a lot of sense.

    The pain went away the next day, Kent?! I am deeply envious. I believe in this utterly since I read Dr. Sarno but my fibro and injury pain hasn't disappeared, alas. I do the somatic tracking and face emotions now instead of running from into work, plus trauma work and counseling -but I still have huge inescapable stresses that seem to be keeping the pain alive. But I'm able to dance again daily though there's still pain - but at a lesser level. I've been able to befriend the pain and release the fear, and I'm sure if I keep at it and "Trust the Process" the pain that has eased often will eventually disappear. (But I've got hypervigilance since a traumatic early birth and death threats in the cradle (union leader father) plus later bullying led to extreme hyperalertness that makes me great in crisis but created pain during a period of multiple stresses and trauma.) I have a lifetime of hypervigilance to unlearn! I find these videos hugely helpful and they give me such a lot of hope for the future. Thank you all, and Feldenkrais Education for posting it!

      Yeah, the next day IS enviable. I have started Feldenkrais (on RUclips) probably an hour to 2 hours at night. Fibro here also . The worst of it is the exhaustion. Pain I can handle, but exhaustion is another thing. I’ll keep plugging away cause I believe all of this with my heart and soul but I really envy the “it went away the next day” comment.

      @@elainehewitt6813 It took me a looong time - I've had CFS/ME and fibro for 54 years - but I have MUCH less fatigue and exhaustion. Realizing it's neuroplastic and NOT a lifelong "disability" made a huge difference, and learning not to fear the "relapses" after activity I was told were inevitable. They're not. I'm now doing WAY more than I ever have - but for me it was a slow gradual process, with lots of improvements and setbacks. Best of luck, and may we all recovery fully!

    Dr. Schubiner I'm with lin health now. I have a coach but I'm suffering my back. Can you please set me up with a Doctor or yourself so I can get better because I can't go on anymore having my husband suffer because of my chronic back pain. I have money and the best insurance please help me!? 😢 I've done pills, physical therapy, chiro, music therapy, ablations, burning of the nerves, trigger points and epidurals.

    You say ALL injuries heal? Even in the back? I had a spinal cord compression that led to spinal cord myelomalacia. What do I do now. I take all meds and still pain. I'm with Lin and have a coach. I CAN'T take the pain anymore Dr. Schubiner. Im reaching out and asking for help. I can pay you. Help me please. I've been in chronic, debilitating pain since July 2020. 💔 Im going to lose everything being home bound. 😢😢

      When I found out Dr. Shubiner answered his phone to Alan Gordon when he was having a meltdown about HIS pain relapse, I too wanted to hug him. (We could start a "Hug Dr. Schubie" fan club!

    I've got severe osteoporosis and had 9 surgeries in a row in 2020. I have a Spinal Chord Stimulator, but implant, but have not had relief. How can I help myself?

      9 surgeries in a row? What happened? I was thinking about a spinal cord stimulator but I'm hearing they don't usually work? I'm praying for you. I have been in back pain since July 2020. I'm working with Lin health I need help and fast because I can no longer go on with this pain.

    This is not new I have had chronic pain for 5 decades! I am not able to reprocess it anymore. No Dr. Ever taught me it is just what I did to live. Now I can no longer live with the lieing to myself that I don't hurt or have pain as you put it anymore!

      I'd watch the pain reprocessing videos by Tanner Murtagh. They help you calm and rewire your brain. He's a fine teacher who like most went through chronic pain himself and learned how to heal it. Pain Outside the Box has some good somatic tracking videos as well. Pain in the night sucks! I have fibromyalgia, and that can be brutal. But learning not to fear it and be calmer makes a huge difference. Best of luck!

    Very interesting. However, I live with severe chronic pain, including my arm, where the tendon has ruptured and surgery at my age offers little chance of success. This pain is very intense, even though I remain appropriately active in my garden. My back and hips are one degree worse, constant pain radiating to my legs and upper body. The RMI scan shows several worn intervertebral discs and surgery is recommended with screwing of the vertebrae. With a limited chance of success.... ("Otherwise you won't be able to walk anymore"). Seems like a real physical damage to me, so how can I learn to tolerate the associated pain?

    It always seems to be bad timing when these live questions and answers come out cause. I can't never seem to attend they always in the morning when I'm working. I don't get off until 2:30 PM of my time. I just wish there was a better time you guys could come on live so I can join on and I would love to learn a lot more about this. I've been going through this pain for the last eight years now

    you can only "unlearn" pain if the pain is indeed healed, and your just on a "feedback loop"... if its still sending pain signals, a damaged nerve for example, then it can NOT be un learned...

    what "if" your pain is from a damaged nerve and can only be "unlearned" by so much... As its the multiple Dr's that cannot diagnose the actual cause, or location of the pain.
