    Just found your channel a few days ago. Sean from Corporals Corner recommended your channel.
    Loving your content and no bullcrap reviews. Thanks to you I've found Decathlon and wow, they do have great prices! You've put me on to somewhere I can actually get good outdoor gear at sane prices.
    And not to be missed, THANKS for your service!! 🤘

    Excellent testing man! I wasn't sure how it would hold up when I first saw the car wash the other day. Solignac or however it's spelled is some kick ass stuff. I have never been into the ultrapussy gear scene. So many years getting soaked through all of my layers working construction I've never looked for stuff to keep me dry. This stuff seems like it would be great investment for anyone that needs it. I really like how the pants are designed to fit or stretch if needed. Keep up the awesome work. Grunt-Proof is definitely a level of testing I can trust.

    Hey Randall, that's amazing how waterproof the jacket and pants are. Thanks for the review. My Gore-Tex rain jacket is starting to get old. I didn't wan't to spend a fortune on new rain gear. 👍

      Thanks! I still have and use my DCU goretex, but it's nice to have a lighter alternative. I'd say their heavy WP100 would hold up just as well as the goretex

    Solignac is awesome gear at an affordable price. Decathlon sell a massive range of kit, I have got some of the Quecha range from there. It's good too. Thanks for sharing this Randall, as ever fun to watch.

    As a size 14 US those pants would suck. Calf zip dont cut it. UK mtp or black or Berghause make a full zip version. A tad more expensive but worth it I believe. If hiking rain stops it heats up but rain may come back, just unzip to mid thigh leave them on

    I use a US military surplus rain suit. It's great, tough, but is neither light nor compact to carry. For most hikers, the Solognac you showed here is probably better. ✌️

    Hello Randall,
    The endurance test in the car wash is awesome. You must have had a lot of fun doing it.
    Do you know the US style poncho from HELIKON? Some RUclipsrs refer to it as a copy of the original US GI poncho.
    What is usually given to soldiers in the US Army as housing? I mean, as with the Germans, it's the two-man tent (Dachshund garage), with the British it's BASHA, etc.
    Maybe you can tell me something about it first hand :)
    Ciao Torsten

    Those jackets look awesome and I just found out that they are cheep as hell 15 EUR for the ligt one and 25 EUR for the heavier one in the UK. I'm sweating a lot when moving around and walking, are there any kind of breathability in the jackets?
    Thanks for the video!

    • @GruntProof
      @GruntProof  3 года назад

      Honestly I've never seen a rain jacket be both breathable AND waterproof. I honestly believe that such a feature is impossible. So yea, these are just as warm as any other rain jacket I've played with.

    Thanks man!! I’m a long range hunter and my load out several days a week all year long including my pack weight is around 55-60 pounds. Maybe not heavy for some. The problem I have is in no time my rain jackets seem to fail. I think the weight of the pack messes the seems up in the jackets and coats. The military gore-tex works but eventually the seems come apart from the membranes. Is there a good chance this brand of gear won’t be destroyed by my pack? I’d pay whatever it takes to find a rain jacket that will last at least a couple of years. Been waiting for someone to do a vid on this type of content. Any information would be appreciated!!!

    • @GruntProof
      @GruntProof  4 года назад +2

      Thank you! I'd recommend the heavier WP100 jacket, but if you want one even tougher, they have heavier jackets. And they're all 1/3 the price you'll pay on the big name brands. Click the link to the heavy jacket in the description, and go from there 👍

    What rain-gear spec is most important? Breathability. All rain-jackets are waterproof. Who cares how durable, they're all adequate. Where do rain-jackets fail? Breathability. It's 98% about breathability. And what's the breathability spec? g/m^2/24hr. What's best-in-class breathability? 75,000 [g/m^2/24hr] by Enlightened Equipment Visp. Second best? 56,000 [g/m^2/24hr] by Zpacks Vertice. What is Gore-Tex estimated (since they refuse to publish a spec? 30.000 [g/m^2/24hr]. What is the second most important rain-jacket spec? Weight. Third? How long; does the jacket extend below shorts (knee-length)?
    Anyone not discussing these three specs, in that order, is a noob. With absolutely no grasp or expertise of any sort.

    • @GruntProof

      nothing is waterproof and breathable

    • @tomnoyb8301
      @tomnoyb8301 Год назад

      @@GruntProof - Just listed the top-two that are breathable, along with the dozens of lesser-spec'd (but still somewhat breathable GoreTex jackets). Materials are key to breathability, but other features, such as pit-zips help further increase breathability. And as was pointed-out, anyone not understanding the importance of breathability and breathability-technologies, has no business reviewing rain-jackets, because they are unskilled and unqualified.
      Never imagined you'd intentionally admit to being in that category?
