How blessed we are to have Paul in our lives. At 73, his voice still soars like an angel. This song, so beautiful and meaningful, touches the hearts of so many.
"The Living Years" is one of the best songs of alltime by the brilliant Paul Carrack and his backing group! Can listen to this song over and over and never tire!! God bless, Paul!!🥰🤩❤🙏🙏🙏
I had a great relationship with my Dad. I appreciate the lyrics of this song though and when do Father and son not see eye to eye on something. He died so, so long ago, but this song brings a tear to my eye every time I hear it. Thanks Paul for such a heartfelt melody
The greatest singer the uk ever had, hands down, Paul carrack has it all in a vocal, delivered perfectly every time, masterclass, been to see him live maybe 5 times always a true perfectionist, and a lovely guy, keep it goin Paul, we need u forever, 👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I remember when this song came out. Was a huge Mike and Mechanics fan and still am. I bought the cassette and then it hit me... Tears... I still have my Dad today but I know the day is coming.
Paul and Mike Rutherford created one of the greatest songs ever written. Take these words to heart…mend as many fences as you can before your time is up. ❤️😔
I swear I saw him play in Bloomington Minnesota in 1987 playing keys for Roger Waters on the Radio KAOS tour. He played a solo that blew my 17 year old mind away. And his voice was phenomenal. This song reminds me of my own dad. What a testimony this man had reached into his heart to share with others who felt and feel the same. Much love.
No matter how many times I hear The Living Years I still get goosebumps that I got the first time I heard it at Christmas 1988... Btw, I'll be 72 years young this Christmas.
I didn't have as they say that Ward Cleaver relationship with my father, but I really miss him, wished things were better, but I've learned & am trying to not copy that with my son. I hold him in my thoughts daily & am.glad I did things differently as he grew up , to be therr for him as he got older

When you have to sing and never faked it! His voice is a talent on another level!! WOW!
Paul carrac is definetly one of my favorite male singers. He deserves so much more cred for his musicianship. ❤

written by BA Robertson and Mike Rutherford. 🙂

It was actually written by Mike Rutherford and B.A. Robertson 👍
Paul didn't write it but his father passed away when Paul was 10, so he said he could relate to the lyrics

His voice is still as beautiful as when I first heard him sing 20 years ago.
Poetic words, masterful performance. Gets me teary-eyed every time.
Paul sounds SO wonderful! Warms my heart to hear and see that a man I adored in 1982 is still worthy of that adoration for his talent today.

Seen Paul a few times. Legend.
Carrack is a true master!
Ranks right up there with Dan Fogelberg’s “Leader of the Band” when it comes to feeling the emotion of fatherhood!
😊❤
His voice is as pure as it was in the 70s. What a legend!

Miss you, mom. 😔 01/17/2011
They used to play this to us in school assembly. I never understood why until I was in my late 30s and a father
Still keeps the voice
