    Let's goooooooo!!! Starting off this journey into the Hamilton Auxiliary Content with a BANG on this one!! If you have certain Hamilton content you'd like me to react to make sure to leave that in the comment section down below!! 👇🦁
    Edit: Guys I know who Barack & Michelle are (*obviously*) 😭. What I said was "Is that Michelle's Mama?" not "Is that Michelle Obama?". The woman I was asking about was the woman sitting on the far side of Pres Obama (she's wearing white & black hence my "in the snazzy, not zebra print" comment). If you follow my cursor you'll see I even swirl it on her to specify who I meant.

      Ok, so you just saw/heard President Obama use his first name, and then you ho back to shortening it. It's almost like you want people to take your treatment of Lin-Manuel as an example and start calling LeBron James "Le." I know that you don't MEAN to disrespect him, but I think you do accidentally.

    Stage shows are in production and rehearsals for YEARS before anyone sees them. This is something I learned from watching the TV show "Smash," which is about a (fictional) musical about Marilyn Monroe's life. GUESS WHO ELSE IS IN IT?!

    Woohoo more Hamilton content!! So Alex Lacamoire is a frequent collaborator with Lin, he’s an orchestrator and music director- so basically Lin wrote all the music, and Alex arranged it for the full band/orchestra. He also conducted the pit during the original run (that guy popping out at the bottom of the stage that they hand a Reynolds pamphlet to and who waves to the audience at the end- that’s him). He was also music director for Wicked, In The Heights, and Dear Evan Hansen 🏠

    • @vivianburrus8085
      @vivianburrus8085 3 дня назад +11

      There is a CBS Morning video here on You Tube ('Hamilton Creators On Crafting a Revolutionary Musical") interviewing Lin, Alex, stage Director Thomas Kail and Choregrapher Andy Blankenbueler and they talk about their history working together both prior and through the development of the show.
      And yes, that was Michelle Obama's mother sitting next to her and the President. She lived with them at the WH when Obama was in office to help with their daughters.
      And I may be getting ahead of myself as I am typing this after just listening to you listen to the poerty jam performance: the lyrics you talk about not being in the final song in fact are, it's just that they are sung by the company not Burr.
      Okay, am now in the second part: the reason Lin had been invited to the first poetry jam was because of his writing and Tony award for "In the Heights" which I believe the Obamas saw on a trip to NY. So it's not a surprise to see the Hamilton cast brought in once that show also won a Tony --- not to mention as Obama noted, the bi-partisan appeal of the show!

I also appreciated your depth and breadth of knowledge about music, dance and staging, as well as your authentic emotional reactions - the laughter and the tears. Thank you for giving me all this time with my favorite musical! I saw it in 2017, and bought tickets for my family in 2020.... which got canceled. About the different artistic choices: probably my favorite thing about live performances is that every performance is different. Whether it's intentional choices or just how things fall out, every performance is its own distinct work of art that can never be perfectly duplicated.

    Random thoughts: I loved your reaction to seeing the cast in the wild. Too funny. Also, Amari if you can, go back and listen for about 10 seconds starting at about 44:30, the drum beat on "do they know you rewrote the game" is SOO good... I've never noticed it before. Also speaking of never noticed, I don't know how but I have literally never heard the "shot him, shot him" echoes that you pointed out... how in the world did I miss that? I've only listened to that song 1000 times.
    Thanks again for another great video -- you have such a great vibe and make everything so enjoyable. Question, can I send you a direct message on instagram or twitter? One of the things I love about Lin's performance is that he *knew* people would think (at first) that it was a comedy song written for this specific White-House event, so he had to play into that a little bit to get them on his side. His delivery of "Alexander Hamilton... his name is Alexander Hamilton...." so completely deadpan the first time is 100% giving the audience permission to laugh at how ludicrous the whole idea of the "concept" is. (Because it is ludicrous. BUT. It's also genius. And he knew he'd have them by the end.) Re: Burr - originally Lin thought he would play Burr and they would have someone else as Hamilton. Ultimately (and thank everything) he took on Hamilton and had someone else play Burr. -- Oh, as far as other musicals being invited to perform at the White House while they were on Broadway - "1776," the first musical about the birth of America, was the first to be invited back in 1970. Gotta love coming full circle.

    Alex Lacamore is the Music Director and in charge of the orchestration, which is the arrangement of the instrumentation. Lin is the composer AND lyricist, but Alex brings the music into its fullness. Someday, when the production rights become available to other companies, the orchestration will be sent out to the Music Director, who generally selects the musicians.
