- First Race of the season in the 1926 Morgan Aero with the VSCC at Cadwell Park. After completing Practice / Qualifying in the morning, and finding myself on the first row of the grid Right along side the very fast Ben Maeers in the Parker GN, I managed to get away reasonably well at the start - only loosing a few places (which is always a downside to only having one rear wheel!). Within a couple of laps or so I had regained my second place, only to find myself with the combination of a failed fuel air pressure gauge and an intermittently stuck open throttle on one bank of the engine! With methanol leaking out of the gauge on to my leg along with my fuel pressure, whilst driving on the ignition when the throttle decided to stick open and frantically pumping air pressure when I could, I managed to bring the car home in second place.

I've been a mechanic, jet engine fuel technician, a mechanical engineer and a combat engineer. I have never seen such a wonderful racing vehicle. Cheers!
here's 26 seconds of what I define a wonderful racing vehicle ruclips.net/video/7qdV7PvkJcY/видео.html
Now that's driving, total respect
The real race.
This is real racing baby, totally raw, lots of manual intervention, no computer controls. Love it! Beautiful track too, lovely countryside.
This dude is awesome, pumping while going flat out in an acient three wheeled Morgan! Dude!
What was he pumping?
I think air to keep the pressure up.
Fuel pump basically... the fuel tank is pressurized by pumping the lever. No pumping no fuel. In his description he had a leak which caused him to have to pump more.
@@robertheinkel6225 Pumping up the fuel pressure. There's no fuel pump on it.
Threewheeler... sometime driven on two wheels 😂
Good god that looked like more fun than I've seen with a steering wheel in a long time. I really enjoy watching you guys over there ringing the necks of these real deal classics.
That's now "seat-of-the-pants" racing that's if his pants have got any seat left that's gotta be fun
Living locally, the VSCC meeting is the highlight of the year for me. Great to see the track from the driver's point of view, super driving skills!
It looks like more fun, than just about anything. A completely unique driving experience
nice race ! pumping leaning and sweating with you
Great driving! I feel like I'm right there with you! :D
What a spectacle!!! Outstanding... Thanks so much for posting and letting us share your experience. Just fantastic!!!!!!!
A lot of work to do on board. Pumping, turning or pushing some knobs, and when you save time, driving...
Very pleasant track, very nice vehicle, fantactic engine sound.
Blimey he turned that 3 wheeler into 2 wheeler at one point.
That machine is terrifyingly quick.
Only way this gets any more awesome than it already is,....is period correct clothing with the ole leather helmet and aviator goggles. The coolest racing I've ever seen. This is as pure as it gets imo.
Stuck throttle - driving on the ignition! Great video - thanks.
Thank you! I must have watched this twenty times.
The racing experience (making it work enough to 'drive it') must be fun as f*ck, but you can think to 'properly' repairing whatever you're driving... can't you? That was an incredible, one of a kind, machine.
In any case, thanks for the ride ; )
I love thrashing my M3W on the Spanish mountain roads. THAT is another level of Morgan driving ! Well done on the 2nd place !
Well thats put a silly smile on my face then for the whole day !! Thank you very much ! FANTASTIC !
This is the best thing I've seen on RUclips in a long time. Running that machine at speed with all the inputs looks fantastic and fascinating.
I'm intrigued on how to get involved with this seen.
Thank you. I really enjoyed watching that 👍
A bathtub with 3 wheels, a big ass vtwin with a seat, lets not forget the manual fuel pump literally! Pump pump!! Absolute Legend!
I swear I can smell the gas and oil. This is driving. Pass, pump, shift, pump pump pump, pass, drift rear, oil, pass, shift, pump pump pump. I could watch this all day, well done!
This is the best onboard ride I’ve ever had! 🙏🏻👍👏👏👏👏👏👏😁🥃🥃 I would love to drive one of those! 😅
I think Morgan was producing a more modern version. The 3 wheeler I think is called
This is so interesting! You have to man handle that baby all the way! Great job!!
Thanks for doing this ..you are living out my own childhood dreams (10yo Associate member of the M3WC) Now 71 and this video is a pure delight for me.
And my dear old Dad had a Morgan. Oh how I wish he was alive to see this race.
Bloody awesome. Busier than a 1 armed paper hanger!!!
Now i see why Granddad had a Morgan Three wheeler. What a car.
Absolutely brilliant video and drive! What skill, and such a busy cockpit. No switch and paddle shifting BS and lights. I haven't lived in the UK for many years, but one of the best memories was going with a mate (Rick) up to Cadwell to camp out and watch him race vintage motorcycles. What an inspiring place!
That is 110% effort !
Loved seeing this all-action, skilful driving - there's so much going on! Looks like proper old-school fun. I went to Cadwell Park for the first time recently. Incredible track and a wonderful place to watch (and even better to drive by the looks of this!). Perfect setting for vintage racing. Loved seeing old bikes there too.
fabulous. Cadwell looking lovely..
I've raced all types of things. I absolutely loved this. No computer controls just lots of driver controls. Well done.
¡¡ Fantástico!!,.. eso es pilotar!,... de los mejores vídeos. ¡Cuánto me gustaría ver una carrera de estas! Gracias por publicarlo.
Now that is real racing! Absolutely brilliant! Better than F1, NASCAR and Indy car combined.
I was thinking that was a manual oil pump and kept shouting at my screen DON;T FORGET THE OIL, but it turns out it wasn't! Phew what a ride, what a drive! Certainly giving the old Moggie some stick, well done!!!
I was watching this, spellbound. Just when I thought I couldn't get more impressed, you found time to acknowledge your mate at 11.06.
Thanks for posting. Awesome
having to pump fuel pressure wow!! old school!!
Excellent! I can really feel the G-forces.... That performance from a car that is nearly 100 years old speaks volumes about its design and construction - and the skills of its driver too! 😀
Passing cars like fenceposts, man!
Love it, momentum momentum momentum !!!! Great skills
I doubt if it's possible to have more fun on wheels then this 😍
So many people say they have a "Drivers Car" but haven't seen you wrestling this old dear around Cadwell... XD
That exhaust note... I think I'm in love... >O.O
1: Respect
2: Respect
3: Respect
Absolutely fantastic to watch. This would have been impressive back in the day when even town driving involved effort and skill but these cars are approaching 100 years old and still being driven like the track was on fire.....Awesome!
Pure motor racing!
So damn cool. Totally in awe of you tallent.
Absolutely amazing!!
Thrilling, edge of the seat stuff! Thank you.
NICE Driving! Anyone that think driving a race car is not physical needs to watch this!
That subtle balance between sounding like a combustion engine and a machine gun... ;-)
Wow! That was an amazing race. Looks really hard work to drive, but great fun. Congratulations. It was a brilliant drive.
This is fantastic
Amazing, thank you for sharing
Like racing a Sopwith Camel without the wings!
This is a true driving experience!! Wow! Thanks for the video!! Bravo!
I read a clive cussler book where the main character raced cross country in a locomobile race car.. his experience was something very similar to your video description.
That was good fun to watch!
absolutely fantastic!
A cool video perspective 👍😁
this is piloting👍🏻👍🏻
Great driving and love when you lift a wheel (!)
Cadwell's a lovely track also...
Thanx
Excellent....thanks!
Oh man i would enjoy driving it😍😍
Fantastic result considering the mechanical issues. GREAT drive!
I didn't realize Morgan's were that fast. Lots of body language on the driving technique, almost like sidecar motos. And skinny little tires. Looks like a lot of fun!
Now this is REAL racing! Let's see Lewis Hamilton do this...
He would do this easy im sure
@@neiltitmus9744 not so sure
All racers have it in their blood
I don’t think cryboy can do this. He would probably wet his own pants. This is proper racing…👏👏
I’m pretty sure Sir Hamster would do pretty well at this, with big old smile on his face. I’ll bet the whole F1 grid would get a kick out this racing and this circuit.
My favorite car and favorite track in sim racing! So fun !
that was a classy race well done Stamford clap clap
That looks like more fun than playing leepfrog in a nudist colony!
If only F1 was this much fun,
It must be amazing fun.. I driven Cadwell 20 plus times in a Lancer Turbo the drifters dream car, the Morgan your riding the drift!
Just great!
Heroic!
that must have felt like riding a rocket in 1926. Amazing!
I don’t know if I should be terrified or smiling ear to ear!
Unbelievable Awesome.
Lord..I use to think I raced wild vehicles. Well played!
Having built a JZR , Morgan replica I can appreciate the fun you had. Although I did have 5 gears and disc brakes 😎
Good stuff - my brakes are small drums on the front, cable operated, and a hand operated band brake on the rear!
Heroic drive!
Vicious little rig 😍
Gotta love the way she waves a wheel in the air at the slightest excuse on a bend! More alternating 2 wheeler than three wheeler.
Unbeknown to the casual observer, Sandford was driving on the ignition switch from half way through this race.
The top of one of the carbs came undone causing the throttle to not shut off!!
Note as he approaches the hairpin he is turning off the ignition to enable changing gear but avoid the engine blowing up!
Nutcase😅
Fabulous driving!! Hopefully the the casual observer watches to the end where he explains his predicament!
They are towards the end he was driving his car like he was flying a Old Radial gnome engine….!!
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
What fun!
The tachometer almost falling out of the dashboard, 5000 rpm as maximum. Methanol leak, and a quart turn on the steering for full turn.....Nice to see....People are not afraid of using the old stuff. 😎
Was the tachy loose? Was that why it seemed to be turning?
@@ianbutler3172 Yes, when you turned the wheel. You have around 2000 ccm twin, with metanol it gives you 80 hp or so ?
That looked a real workout but fantastic
wow wee that looks like fun!
I've driven a customer's Morgan, never been more ecstatic and terrified at the same time!
What a fun way to work out 🎉
Fantastic
We need some outside shots of this tearing it up, on this crazy machine!
Anyone else found themselves leaning with him on the corners ?
It's amusing that some thing that sounds like a lawn mower can be so quick.
What an awesome video, and excellent camera placement. Love the body English and in a car where the driver needs to stay engaged all the time. Who needs to go 100mph to feel terrified!?
Appreciate the kind words! I'm topping out at just under 100mph or so with this gearing, and can confirm, it feels like it!
One for the list headed ''The most fun you can have with your clothes on.''
Still thrashing it after nearly 100 years
That engine sounds good.
wow bravo sir
WOW I'm riding with him , thanks
Awesome..full respect...and im a racer❤❤❤
One of these cars has to be named, "Drapers Revenge."
Kudos fella, it cohonies
